Royal Kludge RK84 Wireless Bluetooth/2.4GHz 75% RGB Mechanical Keyboard (Red Switch) $62.65 + Delivery @ Umart

380

Seems like a pretty good deal for a 75% RGB wireless keyboard. Switches are fully hot-swappable, comes stock with Royal Kludge's own red switches. Excellent modding potential.

Terrible brand name, good keyboard manufacturer.

A melamine magic eraser removes the gaudy logo easily

      • +8

Or breaks it down to the more classy Royal Klunge

      • +4

the frame can be removed and rotated so the brand and logo is facing the back of the keyboard…

      • Crazy, I was just trying to remember the word for the plasticy layer that sits on top of particle board, within 5 seconds I open this link and see your comment mentioning melamine 🤯

The name sounds like a Donkey Kong boss to me and I like it

      • +1

his full name is actually king k(ludge) rool, not many know

    • That one is brown switches, not the red in the original deal.

Fantastic brandname - I need to buy this just because it is a Royal Kludge

Royal Klutz already trademarked by Prince Harry

  • nuphy sales please

Normally Royal Kludge is what you find between the keys

Black OOS. White in Stock, but the delivery is $17 to SA. The delivery is a total deal breaker

  • With the delivery cost in mind, is it worth paying a bit extra for the RK87? $84.99 delivered from Amazon with the $5 coupon.

    • I wonder if it will be even cheaper in the upcoming big Amazon sale in october

      • +2

3camels showed it cheaper recently so quite likely I guess?

    • Its TKL so slightly less compact than this

  • What's the battery like? I have a RK61 and I'm about to retire it, I've had it for a week, takes ages to recharge and seems to go flat in a day (I do use the computer a lot. I'm on holidays atm). I dunno I'm not a fan.

    • +1

in my experience no RGB keyboards will last long on battery unless you turn off the RGB lights

  • +2

I'm so tempted, but I have already like 5 keyboards I recently bought because I plan to start a YT channel to review and mod,
Might have to pull the trigger on this one too (3 of the ones I have are RK lol)

Maybe this will be your end game /s

  • I want the Royal Kludge H81!

  • I purchased this a year ago. every now and then it would misbehave, sometimes once a week, sometimes multiple times a day where it would have an insane amount of input delay every few seconds or so, that when typing some characters would either not register at all, or register way too late so it would like I had severe dyslexia. got it exchanged, same issue. so switched to logitech MX keys, no issues.

  • Have this keyboard and I love it, no complaints at all from me. I'd recommend it, especially at this price

    • I thought the 2.4GHz wireless sucks on it?

      • I've never used it so I wouldn't know, sorry :( I only use the Bluetooth connection since I had the adaptor already, and that worked well

        • All good, it's just I wanted to buy this and this was the main complaint of the keyboard was that the 2.4GHz wireless dropped out, had missing keys or slow typing and that it was terrible for range on reviews.

  • 75% ? Whats not rgb?

Suggest skipping this and instead getting one of their newer gasket mount models like the H81 or R75 instead. Better selection of bundled switches, also they have a knob. You like knobs right?

Oddly enough there appears to be a VIA compat R75 firmware package going around, being sent by the Chinese sellers. (Which is a big wtf from me, given that RK were mostly using fairly crappy Sinowealth MCU. I'm not sure if they switched vendor or some madman ported QMK to the closed source 8051 that is the Sinowealth)

    • I have this since 2021 and got Kailh Box White switches on it.

Yes, this keyboard can be better but it feels much nicer after I changed to MDA profile keycaps which make it similar to my Epomaker TH80 which is a 75% keyboard.

An 84-key keyboard can be better as you retain the Home and End keys which I use a lot.

      See: https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/41247/106848/20230928_…

      • You can always just rebind Home and End to PgUp and PgDn if you prefer.

        • Yes I did, with Epomaker TH80 i end up using vol down on the knob to Home and vol up on the knob to End.

TH80 has FN combinations for vol up and down.

However, with Gamakay LK67, there were no other alternatives for vol up and down.

  • for this price it isn't too bad! my usecase for this maybe to use it as a work keyboard…

  • Got a red RK87, as I personally need arrows and it is fantastic!!!

    • RK84 has arrows

      • oh crap, you're right Lol

But I guess my preference was still a slightly bigger keyboard and more spaced out keys haha.

  • How thocky is this?

    • not thocky, default keycaps are very plasticky and the switches are TTC switches, will not be nice out of the box

      • Gotcha. What do you recommend for maximum thock? 65%-75% is fine

        • I have no idea what the maximum thock is but I reckon Epomaker TH80 i got from a deal posted here is the thockiest keyboard i've got now…

  • I purchased this keyboard and the top row of letters and numbers row seem to be combined…. what the f.

eg when I hit 1… I get 1q. If I hit Q…I also get 1q. in BT or wired… decent build though.

      DOA, get it swapped

      • +1

yep… got it refunded immediately as the shop replicated the issue. got a Corsair K70 Pro instead after being royally kludged.
