Spend $500, get $75 back on my Platinum

Buy a gift card and use it at a later date during a sale etc.

    • -1

      Not possible last time.

      • Can you please clarify? I just checked the terms and it doesn't seem to exclude the purchase of gift cards.

        • +1

Kogan does not process the giftcard transaction made by AmEx, Ultimate.

          However, situation may change.

          • @Neoika: Thanks.

            • @WookieMonster: It looks like pictures are from last discussion, not in September.

@Neoika: Just used amex for a $50 kogan gift card. Appears as processed by Kogan. Got amex trigger email. All seems fine to me

@clx: Just tried, still "Sorry, there was an error processing your payment. Please try another payment method or try again".

Webpage failed. Strangely, App does not accept AmEx 4 digit CVN, only 3 digit allowed. Did you enter the 3 digit one? I don't have it at hand (and need to find it at home).

Possibly first time use allowed? I used my card before.

              • +2

@Neoika: Hmm the first time worked but I tried it again just now with another Amex and got the same error that you did. Will try again tomorrow. But good to know at least that if it somehow does get through that it will trigger the Amex cashback email (based on my initial successful transaction).

                • @clx: I think it definitely works for a fresh account to buy eGC, but may not for old accounts(depending on the purchase history).

                • @clx: It worked with 2 cards for me but not on 3rd one.

  • Doesn't seem to be targeted; got it on my three primary Amexes

    • Definitely targeted. Didn't get it on my Explorer, got it on my Qantas.

  • Nothing on mine cards :(

  • Got on my qantas amex ultimate, thanks OP

    OFFER TERMS

    • Excludes purchases made at all Kogan Essentials websites (including, but not limited to, Kogan Mobile, Kogan Internet, Kogan Energy, Kogan Credit Card, Kogan Insurance, Kogan Pet Insurance, Kogan Life Insurance, Kogan Travel, Kogan Cars and Kogan Super).
    • Excludes purchases made at Matt Blatt Furniture and Brosa.
    • Offer is limited to one credit per Card to which the offer is saved and only spend on this Card counts towards the Offer.
    • Excludes transactions where you do not spend directly with your Card to which the offer is saved, in-app via the Kogan Shopping app or online at www.kogan.com/au. Offer valid at Australian website and app only.
    • Excludes transactions made through a third party establishment or payment processor.
    • Credit is not redeemable for cash or other payment form.
    • Credit should appear on your billing statement within 15 business days from qualifying spend but may take up to 90 days from the offer end date.
    • Credit will not be applied to your Card Account if your Card has been suspended or cancelled.
    • Credit may be reversed if your qualifying purchase is refunded or cancelled.
    • Full Offer Terms available here.

Kogan Mobile plans do not count. I believe this is the main thing that's purchased by the typical OzBargainer (and even then, only on sale).

Unless there's a specific item that you already want, is listed on Kogan for a reasonable price (but still over $50) and can be made more reasonable by this $10 cashback, then it isn't worth it.

    • Deal updated. Thanks.

  • Good luck

Just ordered something with Kogan. Not all of it arrived. Had to chase up their courier service. Kogan says they will check but their courier is more responsive. Still items missing.

  • There's also an Amazon 5 points for every dollar spent, up to 2,500 points ($500 spend). Expires 22/10.

The card I have every dollar is 200 points, 2,500 points equals $12.50.

So $12.50 back when spending $500, equivalent to 2.5%, this is a very weak offer. Many reward gateways offer 3% GC on demand.

4 x TA specials only require $120 spend to earn $13.20, sometimes $13.80.

I dont know why a lots of shops dont accepted Ammex :((

    • +1

Amex transactions are more expensive than visa and Mastercard, so many shops choose not to accept it.

  • Got it on the cashback card. Thanks for the heads up!

  • Hrm, the payment page is only allowed to enter 3 digits on CVV field. How do you pay by Amex?

  • +1

I didn't notice we can use the 3 digits at back of Amex cards - always used 4 digits before.

So apparently it worked with getting gift cards. But couldn't purchase more than 2. I bought 1 last night and 1 today. All ok (with 2 different cards) until trying to buy another one using a 3rd amex card.

May be they limit 1 a day. Will try again tomorrow
