  • Any restrictions to use for online payment ?

    • They can't be used online. These are EFTPOS gift cards. Pay your bills with these cards at Post office.

      • Am not sure, but can we buy these cards using visa card purchased from coles recently.

        • +2

          No. Woolworths has blocked this.

          • @WookieMonster: Oh not good. Just one more question, i had purchased visa card but unable to use online for bill payment like tango. its working for rate payment. any workaround to pay the bills using visa prepaid card?

            • +4

@Ozfanmel: One suggestion is to pay using an intermediary. For example:

              • You can use this at Australia Post to pay bills in-person, as long as the staff member is happy for you to do signature verification and do split payments and lets you use prepaid gift cards as a payment method.

              • You may be able to directly use this online through Post Billpay (or by linking the Visa prepaid gift card to PayPal and then going through Post Billpay online), but you cannot do split payments, which may make things tricky for billers who are expecting a full payment upfront.

              • You can link a Visa prepaid gift card to Sniip and then use this to send BPAY payments (at a 0.85% fee) to BPAY billers who choose to accept payments from prepaid cards.

              • +1

@WookieMonster: Thank you, i will try one of these option.

              • @WookieMonster: Tried using these at couple of Aus Posts to pay Strata. Told can't use GC's. Thinking of masking the front side of these cards lol!

                • @maverick1: You can't use these to pay bills? Okay, I ain't gonna risk it anymore.

                  Not worth the effort.

                  • @[Deactivated]: ya its a bit of effort. You can buy one with small denomination to test if your local Aus Post let's ya.

                    • @maverick1: i cbf going back and forth, no thanx
I dont shop at wollies, so its a pain in the ass over 3% profit in pts.

prepaid credit cards are so easy, i think they do this as a joke! no thanx, just so limited. good for shopping but then again, why wouldnt you just buy 10k in pre paid credit cards which save you 7%? so makes no sense

                      • @[Deactivated]: Have bills to pay now so can't wait for 7% and these are alright for meeting cc signup bonus + Qantas points which helps in qualifying for Qantas Points club plus.
I do buy tons of Coles MC but don't carry them for more than a day or 2 as they are prone to hacking.

                        • @maverick1: I get that these give you Qantas points, it's much easier to flip credit cards like I mean easier. I mean like a thousand times easier for the points you get

I understand what you're saying, but these are so limited in your ability to use them and someone just said they wouldn't accept that at Australia Post. So if I have to spend an hour driving to different post officers to save 3% which it will cost me in time and fuel it's not worth it

I just find that the prepaid credit cards I can literally use like 10 different ways and these feel very limited to in-store only

I understand it can work for groceries and stuff, but like I said, if you're planning to do that, you would already have a huge outlay of those prepaid mastercards

I have bills to pay at the moment too, however I'm not going to go and outlay hundreds of dollars and then get rejected by my post office

                • @maverick1: Dang.. was tempting to buy some of these to pay my strata at AusPost..

              • @WookieMonster: Can I use this perfect eftpos gift card to purchase TCN him gift card at woolworths? Thanks in advance for answering

                • +1

                  @dsesaz: Probably.

I was able to use a Perfect eftpos gift card in June 2023 to purchase Ultimate gift cards (a closed-loop gift card). By extension, I should have been able to use a Perfect eftpos gift card at the same time to purchase a TCN Him gift card, because that is also a closed-loop gift card. I have no idea if it works now though.

Just keep in mind that Perfect eftpos gift cards may have a supermarket redemption limit enforced by Blackhawk Network (the gift card issuer). OzBargainers have previously found that the limit is most likely $400 across multiple Blackhawk Network gift cards within 3-10 minutes, so be mindful of that.

            • +2

@Ozfanmel: @Ozfanmel. I paid my tango bill last week with the Visa Vanilla using their telephone option

              • @springneap: oh okay thank you for the update. i will try.

              • @springneap: don't think you can use EFTPOS card to pay over the phone. The card# starts with 6 and is 19digits.

  • +12

10x isn't worth the effort tbh, 20x makes it 10%. You can get a standard 5% off most gift cards via multiple methods like Shopback, rewards gateway, HSBC etc etc

3.35% is poor in today's market, considering 15% is also on at the moment.

    • link or details for the 15% please and thankyou

    • +3

There are 2 points that you are missing. Firstly, you can buy these cards in cash too. You can't use any of those deals if your money is in cash. Secondly, these are EFTPOS cards which can be accepted at any retail location which has a POS even at Aldi without paying anything extra.

      • +3

What do you mean in cash too?

Most instore GCs/Visa/Avtiv can be bought by cash too.

With the second one, I agree EFTPOS will be more acceptable at certain places but again the 3.5% off doesn't make it that attractive. If you pay with a 10% discounted visa card at Aldi and pay the 1% transaction, you are still in 6% profit.

      • +1

you forgot about the limit blackhawk enforced on the supermarket such as ALDI /wws/coles etc
you cannot spend more than $450 each time, it has count down of maybe 10 minutes.

If someone else spend $200 for example right before you , you can only spend $250 on your perfect gift card . Anything more than this, your transaction will be declined.

problem is you would not know who spend how much at when

        • Thanks for the info. May I ask the source of the spending limit of $450? Last time I tried to pay $500, got declined. Later tried $400, it went through. Next time, I will try $450 first.

      • 3.35% or 2500 qantas points @ 0.32c + 3x points on amex plat edge to earn krisflyer points. These gc are perfect for my trips to Costco where discounted gc aren't available anywhere else.

    • Was there ever a 20x points on Eftpos cards?

      • I don't think so. It's always been either straight up gift cards or Visa

    • I agree, the early reason I'm trying to work this out is because I'm very close to Qantas points club plus and I can't flip anymore credit cards lol

  • 3.35% pass

  • Can you purchase these with egift cards?

    • +1

      No

      • Bugger. Thanks for the response.

      1. We can not use any Woolworth group gift cards (wish and Woolworth grocery either physical or e-gift card. (Stopped long-time ago)
      2. As per my knowledge, We can not use any prepaid physical or e- visa/MasterCard or eftpos card including coles MasterCard(recently), only one visa card, prepaid eftpos card, active card, vanilla visa card and “shopback supermarket prepaid active e-visa card too.”
      3. It means Woolworth “almost” stopped all kinds of loopholes to buy these gift card. No more double-triple dips. If still there, let me know, i would be more than happy.
      • Check out Mastercards that can be added to mobile wallet. MC doesn't report them as prepaid cards, unlike the Visa counterparts.

  • -1

Can you pay ATO online using this gift card?

    • No.

This gift card operates on the eftpos network and does not support any online transactions (nor any other card-not-present transactions).

      • Thanks

Can we use this to buy gift card at Coles ? If and when we get next 10% discount Vanilla card?

        • +1

          Maybe.

I have not heard of any restrictions Coles has placed on the redemption of Perfect eftpos gift cards.

Blackhawk Network has been known in the past to enforce spending restrictions on gift cards owned by them (including Perfect eftpos gift cards), but I am not sure what the restrictions currently look like. Someone recently told me that they only had to wait three minutes for the cooldown period, rather than ten minutes.

          • @WookieMonster: This is eftop so we can't even use BPAY or Australia Post to pay the bill ?

            • @SydBoy: I do not know how you can make a BPAY payment using an eftpos card, because you would need to do a card-present transaction through some intermediary. Even if that was possible, that intermediary may use a cash-equivalent merchant category code that is blocked by Blackhawk Network (the gift card issuer).

You may be able to pay a bill through Post Billpay at Australia Post using this gift card, but it will rely on a number of factors, such as:

              • The biller would need to accept eftpos payments. (Not all billers do so.)

              • The Australia Post staff member would need to be okay for you to make a payment using a prepaid gift card. (Not all staff members do so.)

              • Blackhawk Network would need to be okay with you making a payment at Australia Post. Someone told me early this year that Blackhawk Network declines some payment attempts in-person at Australia Post, although they could not discern a pattern. Some payment attempts would be approved, yet some would be declined with error code 12 (Invalid Transaction).

  • +3

Other way to look at it is 2500 qantas points for $7.95 for $500 card

    • Which CC gives 5x qantas points per $1 spend? I know my Amex does 3x MR points at supermarkets, but thats for other redemption partners

      • +1

10x500 = 5000 every day reward points converts to 2500 qantas points. This is on top of any credit card points you earn.

    • Recently redeemed 215,400 Qantas points for Singapore-Melbourne return flight in Emirates first class, $184 taxes.
      Basically $685 (points cost) + $184 = $869 total.

      • Yeah, but 330k gets you return to Europe
Business Krisflyer is 130k with 200 taxes man

Just depends how much you fly, and how much you want to waste to points on a single trip.

First class is great, it's only good value for money if you're smashing champagne and fine wine.

Technically you sell those points, you can go to any restaurant in your city and have a better time dining! I thought business class was so overrated, and I'm quite a muscular well-built guy
I think premium economy is probably the happy medium, but technically when you can sell points and fly a lot cheaper economy. I'm not sure if I value even business class

Class would be nice, however you need to use an absurd amount of points other than that Singapore to Melbourne flight which is a very unique flight because of the low taxes

      • +1

You should probably look at the opportunity cost instead. You can sell them for $140-$150/10k pts which means the ticket actually costs you $3k+
Like Adelv mentioned, for most bargain-conscious (stingy) souls here Biz award tickets or al-cheapo economy cash tickets are definitely the way to go:)

        • -3

No idea why people are paying so much for Qantas pts? Lol
People are so pathetic, they're so desperate to fly business class to feel important and it's still costing them 70% of a flight 🤣

I know so many people that are filthy, rich, and they'll generally fly economy unless using points. But I know for a fact multiple friends of mine that drive Lamborghini is a McLaren's would never buy points!

I guess for first class redemption, but if you don't drink, it would be very hard to get that much value out of a first class redemption.

I would be smashing champagne and French Bordeaux LOL

Of course, if you build up the points from credit card flipping, it's a lot better value for money!

          • @[Deactivated]: Because the price is generally set by professional ticket flippers who knows how to maximize the value of the tickets and do it solely for profits.

  • Does this stack with Everyday Extra's 2x

  • Yay to pay for my regos, maybe ctp and car insurance hahah!

HSBC debit card give you 2% cashback

    • So does a lot of credit cards. It's a different game my friend

      • Hi abs898 which credit card gives you 2% cashback ?

        • Amex platinum, sits at about 1-1.5% is you do hard points to cash. Much higher when converted to frequent flyer

    • You will earn 2% cashback on eligible purchases under $100 when you tap and pay with Visa payWave, Apple Pay or Google Pay. This will be paid into your Everyday Global Account with the maximum cashback you can earn being $50 per calendar month.

    • +1

Split the $507.95 into 6 payments and pay for it using HSBC to get your 2% cashback still.

  • 7.95 activation fee is killing it

    • That’s apples for the variable load only, the fixed amount for $50 and $100 have $1-2 dollars less for activation.
      *$50 fixed load - $5.95 purchase fee
      *$100 fixed load - $6.95 purchase fee

FAQs on The Perfect Gift Card.

      https://perfecteftposcard.com.au/faqs/

    • @WookieMonster

Do you know if the shopback supermarket card will work for this?

      • +1

I do not know whether Woolworths has blocked Shopback Supermarket Visa gift cards from paying for Perfect eftpos gift cards.

Woolworths should have blocked regular Activ Visa gift cards (e.g. Congrats, Birthday, Luxury, Petrol & Auto) from paying for Perfect eftpos gift cards. That should have been blocked late last year.

      • +2

        no it does not work

        Item not allowed

    • -1

I was planning to use vanilla. thanks for saving me the trip!

  • Lol I been using these to pay my Citi ready credit… earn points while paying back loan at 4.9% interest

    • +1

      Whoa, hang on,

Are you saying you bought The Perfect GC with your Citibank and then pay off the Citibank biill with using The Perfect GC?

      • +1

Well not directly. Once U draw down on your ready credit then U get a statement each month. Bring it to post office and pay it with the EFTPOS card. U can tell staff U want to do a $500 to clear the whole card at once.

I haven't tried it with credit card statements, so if anyone knows would be good.

I think EFTPOS is different cos I tried doing it with sniip (to pay my ready credit) and they blocked using credit card to pay with credit card.

        • interesting this way. tried post billpay online, seems no billpay code listed on Ready credit statement. may have to pay in store.

          • @test8888: Okay an update. I paid it again $500 at auspost. Went through however this was a different Aus post and the lady wasn't too happy I used a gift card saying the rules are not to allow gift cards to pay bills as they might get penalized. It still went through before she realised. So I think it depends which person is working there.

She mentioned if would be okay to pay using that card if it was retail purchases at the post office.

            • @MaxHashrate: Same. I had a bit of argument at one of the local Aus Posts and they eventually said you can try but it won't work, but oh well it worked.
I then used one of these cards to pay my rego at service nsw. Had to go in store, so costed about 20-30mins of time.

              • @maverick1: After that I went to my usual Aus post, and paid my electric bill, young kid working there didn't care.

Did they notice U had a gift card? If they don't they wouldn't know if U are paying with a debit card or not.

I made the mistake of scratching for the pin with the first lady so she noticed it.

                • @MaxHashrate: couple of them did and said no straight away. Then at the next store they didnt notice so paid some of my strata.

            • @MaxHashrate: You have to know your Ausposts. For example, I know two that definitely don't take the cards. Their machines always reject them. At others there is no problem at all BUT it's best to be discreet. Keep the card covered as much as possible and remember the pin.

Generally I have no problems at all but the more savvy ones' attention could be drawn to the fact that you swipe the card rather than tap or insert.

Always be ready with an excuse if things go wrong. Use it and walk away to try on another day with someone else at the counter or try another Auspost.

I've managed without any problems at 8 or 9 without any problems.

  • Since this is EFTPOS, it is not very likely to get hacked, right, @WookieMonster? Would it be sensible then to stock up on these?

Also, do you know if these can be used for DEFT payments at Aus Post?

    • Deft doesn't accept prepaid cards but I would be keen to know if these get accepted.

      • Maybe your are just answering the part about the Eftpos cards in auspost, but Deft accepted the Coles digital prepaid mastercard card that was in sale in the previous deals, when paying online.

        • Which one? Activ? Mine was rejected. I was trying to pay my owners corp via DEFT.

          • @abs898: This one https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/14174176/redir

And as mentioned in the deal comments, pay online without logging in to avoid account locking

            • @zrmx: the Giftcards one, that was rejected too for me. Maybe depends on what you are paying for on DEFT.

              • @abs898: That's a bummer =S

I guess it depends on your owner Corp/strata, as others were able to pay their strata

    • +1

Since this is EFTPOS, it is not very likely to get hacked, right, @WookieMonster? Would it be sensible then to stock up on these?

It is very unlikely these gift cards will be “hacked”, because they do not (and cannot) support card-not-present transactions. However, if you are like one OzBargainer I previously helped and had a Perfect eftpos gift card where $490 was fraudulently spent by someone else, have fun trying to get Blackhawk Network to help you. (Blackhawk Network does not let you dispute any transactions on a Perfect eftpos gift cards.)

Also, do you know if these can be used for DEFT payments at Aus Post?

      No idea.

      • +1

Thanks! Appreciate your insights, as always :)

  • -1

It would be ideal, if I could use it as a credit card online

But I literally never bought anything in store, so I find these cards rather useless personally

  • -1

Worth it if we can pay with Vanilla Visa Card

  • +1

    Limit applies this time

The purchase limits for this promotion vary depending on which gift cards you buy:

For cards with a fixed value (eg. “$50”, “$100” etc), the limit is five cards per day which can be purchased across multiple transactions.

For variable load cards where you choose the amount on the gift card (eg. “$20-500”, the limit is two cards per day and they must be purchased in a single transaction each day.

  • Am I correct in assuming that the bonus EDR points are instead of the usual 1 point per dollar? And if you have Everyday Extras, you don't get the extra 1 point per dollar on top of that either? e.g: $500 gift card gets 500 EDR points + 500 extra points + 5,000 bonus points via this promo?

    • +1

Am I correct in assuming that the bonus EDR points are instead of the usual 1 point per dollar?

At Woolworths you don't earn any standard points on gift card purchases. At Coles you do but only on third-party gift cards.

And if you have Everyday Extras, you don't get the extra 1 point per dollar on top of that either?

Sadly, no. You will only earn 5,000 EDR points on a $500 Eftpos gift card, regardless of Everyday Extra or any other offer you may have.

      • Cheers for the clarification :)

  • +4

Wow. Reading all the comments + Q & A's above, I am in awe at what a cunning & stategic bunch of people Ozbargainers are!

  • Don't people find, that they've got a few dollars left over on these?

With credit cards I can just buy gift vouchers and stack them in my accounts, but this seems a little bit annoying to calculate the right amount to get the most out of it.

I guess you'd have to buy chocolate bars or something? I assume you can check online what values on the card?

Does this stack with any reward bonuses in the app?? Like Woolworths, spend $40, get 2000 points etc
I also have get 4x bonus points for my birthday?

    Lol

    • +3

Once you get to low balance you just split payment at ColesWorth to clear it

      • I rarely go in-store to do my shopping, that's the problem

Can I select an exact amount?
Say my bills are _320 and a haircut 30
        I can select 350?

I don't really want excess cards like this, prepaid credit cards are really easy for me to use but these generally aren't

        • +1

If it's too hard to go into a ColesWorth then you can just throw them in the bin
