[PS5] Death Stranding: Director's Cut $29 + Shipping @ JB Hi-Fi & Amazon AU

610

Death Stranding: Director's Cut is back to the lowest we've found on OzBargain at JB Hi-Fi, but it seems it's almost certainly only available to order online — with store set to Chatswood in Sydney, the closest pickup said Nowra. So, there will be shipping costs to factor in. The deal has also appeared on Amazon! Free Amazon Prime delivery or with $39 spend.

Death Stranding is director Hideo Kojima's most recent game — and there's a sequel on the horizon. True to form it is bizarre, disturbing and somehow makes perfect sense. The Director's Cut includes some not-particularly-earth-shattering features, but is definitely worth it for those who have not played the original release:

Main points from the marketing:
— Expanded content – use additional weapons and vehicles, take on new enemies and explore new locations with extra missions and minigames.
— New discoveries – experience an extended storyline in an expanded area.

Rebuilding the world with other players via the online functionality was a real stand-out for the game for us.
Appears on PS5 the 3D Audio headphone feature is available — we haven't played it with that, so hopefully community can give potential buyers the heads-up.

Obviously the best thing is you get to be Norman Reedus. What more do you need?

FYI also included in Playstation Plus library, but a very good price for physical collectors.

Considering stop my subscription. The price is becoming ridiculous.

  • +1

    Same price @ Amazon

    • I think that JUST happened! Thanks GoonSack69.

    best walking simulator

    • +4

Jokes aside, one of the best gaming experiences I’ve had in recent years.

      • +1

I loved the story but it felt tedius at times, the payoff was worth it.
I'm playing starfield now and that was slow to get going but is also starting to get me hooked, I remember FO4 was the same.
I bet a few people have given up early and missed out.

      • +2

idk man the lore was exciting at first but then it got boring.

  • Why is " it's almost certainly only available to order online" ?

  • +5

game so boring I gave up.

    • +3

Game so beautiful I gave in.

    • The first ~10 hours was a bit of a slog, but put in the time and it gets better. Not the best for first impressions though.

      • i actually thought first 2 hrs or so was pretty good but then it just put me to sleep and couldnt pick it up again.
directing failed there to set the pace, you have games like TLOS 2 which are slow to kick off as well but at least its interesting and has something to keep you in

  • Kojima jumped the shark with this one…the signs were there with MGS V

    • +1

I really enjoyed it. The market clearly exists, it didn't do poorly.

  • +2

The best strand-type game I've played.

  • Not bad as a delivery man!

  • +3

Got this free on Epic with the PC a few months ago - finally finished. Apart from the interesting storyline - it was actually a game I enjoyed!

    • you should pair it with red dead redemption 2, if you liked walking, im sure you will love all the horse riding too

      • +2

no i used a bike whenever . I hate walking

      • +1

If you play it for long enough you'll find that the walking decreases significantly. Its really the first part (10 hrs) where you need to walk everywhere.

        • Yeah, I got to the bike, then it broke and I gave up

          • +1

@botchie: Yeah that's still in the first area of the game. When you move on from there the game starts ramping up.

  • +3

Definitely a polarising game. I didn't like it at first, but found after persevering for first few hours it really had me hooked.

    • +1

Agreed. I read good advice to treat the first area like a tutorial. Push through till it opens up then think about side missions

    • I loved it and got entirely absorbed by it. I also probably hate some games that haters of this game love. Whatcha gonna do?

The game is well worth a shot anyway.

  • +2

I loved this game after the first 10 hours.

  • I have this in my Epic account, cant remember if it was a free game of the week or I bought it and forgot it.

Might give it a go this weekend, from the comments it seems to be worth it.

  • What is this game about? I watched a trailer and it's confusing

    • +3

The barrier between the land of living and the afterlife is weakened, so dead spirits come into our world and wreak havoc. If they eat a human it causes an explosion and wipes out entire cities (something about antimatter). It now rains "time", so if rain touches you, time passes fast where it touches you and you age quickly.

Game is set after civilisation has collapsed, people live in disconnected cities. Only way to communicate is via "porters" i.e. delivery people. Main character is a delivery person tasked with connecting America to a new "internet" so everyone can communicate, while tracking down his adopted sister.

Pretty simple, classic storytelling really. I can't imagine Kojima ever creating anything that's ridiculously convoluted and confusing.
