wondering if this deal has made more people to buy or bring forward their Iphone 15 and other purchases?

  • Do you add Card number or PCN number to Google Wallet?

Bought successfully with Commbank credit card.

    • you can use the camera to add or enter details manually, use CARD no and CVV 3 digit.

  • +3

OK just wanted to share my experience here in case some of you are on the fence. I read through 15 pages of everyone's comments and negative experiences before I thought I'd give it a go.

Got the Ultimate Home. First time I tried to pay I was met with a Transaction Fail, please contact customer service. I gave up for about a few mins and then decided to give it another go. It went through.

Tried to add it to my usual Google Wallet, met with an error. I tried again but this time with the email I used when purchasing the cards. Also I used the camera on my phone to add the card (although this shouldn't make any difference since it only scans the card number) to add all 3 cards ($500 each). Wasn't prompted for any verification code.

Nervously went down to Total Tools and wanted to buy the Festool I've been eyeing off along with some other accessories. Told the guy at the counter I needed to do split payments in 3 cards of $500 each because they have limits. It all worked and went through. I'm not going to upload the photo of my receipts so you're just going to have to take my word for it.

Best of luck to the rest of you! Happy camper here and in true blue style, you've got to just give it a go!

    • Hey mate, do you only add the card number and pin to the Google wallet ?

      • Yeah just the card number (not PCV) and CVV not pin Basically like how you enter a VISA or MasterCard

  • I know it says one per customer… is this tied to address/card or phone or something?
I can prob name my partner or family etc. but was wanting to get maybe 7500 worth or so

    • You should be able to purchase multiple GCs separately. I know it says one transaction per customer, and I had a scare myself earlier, but I did buy a $100 just to work out the whole process, as I didnt want to risk purchasing the whole sum. Once I was happy, I made another purchase with the rest of the amount. And it went fine as well.

      • yeah my worry is pushing the 2500 limit twice over etc.
definately don't want to have things cancelled on me after the fact.

    • +3

I just use the same email, same credit card to pay, same everything, $5,000 purchased over 3 orders. I'm not sure how do they limit 1 order/$2500 per customer.

    • +1

I bought $5799 worth across three orders and have successfully spent them all at 99bikes. All used same email address, etc.

      • expensive bike?

        • Yeah, was waiting for a discount on a particular eMTB and this made me pull the trigger.

  • One way to use specific amounts/remaining balances/etc. on your Ultimate GC is to use custom GCs, for example Macquarie Marketplace sells JB Hi-Fi GCs of any amount from $20 to $1500.

I gave up on buying a JB Hi-Fi GC online, it worked once yesterday but not since.

  • Back and forth and back and forth with the website and my banks….

Far out, it's obviously an issue on their website but they refuse to acknowledge or fix it. It's getting to the point it's almost not worth the hassle.

  • Hey All

Am trying to purchase a $2200 gift card which comes down to $1870. I get to the step 3, Payments Section and the wheel just spins..
    I have tried on 3 x different browsers…
    Can anyone advise?

Okay so update from me, Ive tried on my mobile phone now and I could get through and enter my payment details. I am trying to use AMEX, and just started with a 1x $100 card incase any difficulties arise. Well, lo and behold, the transaction doesnt go through. It says " Transaction Failed, please contact customer service"

  • Purchased but wondering if an ultimate HOME card can be used at outlets listed under ultimate him for example?

  • I've been trying all morning and same issue - verifies my card then says transaction failed. I called their customer support line and they said it was an issue with my Bank not verifying… I told them I was paying via Zip Pay so had nothing to do with my bank.. Even went through my Zip app and same issue - problem definitely at their end

    • Yeah I have been getting the same feedback, that it's supposed to be my bank. My banks have said it's absolutely not, it's the site.

    • Hi, I contacted Zip pay and they advised they do not support the purchase of gift cards with their virtual credit card from other retailers. They want you to buy it through their app.

  • hey guys, how can I pay with google pay without NFC ( tap option ) on my phone ?
    thank you

  • I guess it's ended now. Tried to pay but got rejected a few times. Now it's showing the full price to me.

    • Nope discount still shows at checkout for me :)

  • same card, transaction wernt through 2 days ago, gift cards all good, wanna purchase another 2500, same CC, transaction failed, WTF

I pre-ordered an iPhone from JB store as following:
    - Purchased Ultimate home GC
    - Added them to apple wallet
    - Paid in 5 separate transactions instore at JB HiFi to pre-order the iPhone.

    HTH

Edit: Used St George Visa CC to purchase the GCs. It took 5 minutes for the GCs to arrive in the email.

    • Good for you.. many (including me) weren't able to add more than 2 UCs to the apple wallet. Samsung wallet came as a saviour though.

    Update on my experience -

Order 5X $500 Ultimate Home GC. Used Safari private browsing (on iPhone). The process went super smooth. No issues.

Got the receipt within 2mins and all the 5 GC within 10mins.

Followed the step by step process to add each GC onto Apple Pay, went through in one go. No issues at all.

Note - while adding it will ask for the card number and a security number. The security number is the CCV number.

    Overall smooth process.

Next up, planning to go to JB later today and get few Apple gift cards. Let’s see if that works.
Goal - Buy iPhone 15 Pro Max and AirPods Pro 2 in Dec before international travel and claim 10% GST.

any advantage of buying IP15PM from apple store vs JB? May be you could get better price or discounted apple care from JB?

      • +1

Only advantage to buy from Apple is I can order online from the Apple website.

With JB, I cannot order online as it doesn’t not allow split payment using Ultimate card and the only option is to walk in to buy the phone and that will depend on the stock availability.

      • The other advantage is sometimes Apple store/Education store has cashback.

        • +1

But afaik iPhones not on the education store?

    • hi, when did you purchase the card? thx

      • Right when I added the message to this thread around half an hour back today (3:45pm).

    • Can we buy Apple gift card using Ultimate gift card? How? thank you.

    • Tip: best to buy at the airport, rather than claim back at the airport - will be a super long queue

  • Can I buy GC's in Life rewards through Home UGC's?

  • +1

Tried several times with bank card. Transaction failed contact support.

Contacted support - It's your bank not honouring the charge.
Contacted Bank - It's their system, no reason for dishonour.
Tried with zip, got code, same error.
Re-Contact Support - It's your bank not us. We also don't accept zip.

    This site is a joke.

    • Exactly the same responses for me too.

    • I bought 5% off JB e gift cards earlier in life rewards with HSBC debit card, but other cards haven't worked for me either.
I hope it works with Ultimate GC's

    • Me:
      Transaction failed contact support.
Bank contacted: verified and approved, should be ok after 30m
After 30m: Transaction failed contact support.
Contacted support: it is your bank, 3DS issue
Contacted bank: No problem at all. It is thier system
Contacted support: I will forward to technical team
Technical team: resolved problem, should be ok after 24hrs
      After 24hrs = Transaction failed
Too much effort to give some body money…

Just bought 4 x $500 Ultimate Home GC with Commbank Mastercard so i can go to JBHIFI and pick up an iPhone. Took 5mins to buy and another 10misn for the emails to come through with the cards. Another 10mins to add each one manually to Apple Wallet. Just wish there was a way to name each one so i know which is which when im in store!

    • You can use the last four digits to tell them apart.

  • Question: I have $28 remaining on my Ultimate GC. Can I purchase an additional $22 gift card to get a $50 Apple GC and ask the Jbhifi cashier to do a split payment on a single transaction for me?

And does anyone know if I can use Apple GC to purchase AppleCare+ in-store.

    • +1

Yes. But i got told if you just purchased a new device it has a default 7 day apple care coverage so need to buy after that. It wouldnt allow me to use apple account credit.

  • Just tried buying the Ultimate Home GC on Google Chrome on my phone, after the payment verification it says, "Transaction failed, please contact customer service".

Called the customer service and they said it is a known issue with many users and the IT team will get back to me within 1-2 business days. This is so frustrating though ngl

    • does the payment get deducted in this case

      • Mostly it doesn't, it's a common issue faced by many users

    • Try disabling ad blocker if any and give a try.

    • same thing happen to me. dont know why

  • Are they blocking the use of coles digital master card to purchase this giftcards?

  • Tried two credit cards(mastercard and amex) to get $2k worth of GCs, both had the same error (contact customer service). But instantly went through after using an Up Debit.

  • +5

    Great offer for most retailers.

I would caution against buying it for Hellofresh, it will automatically remove all discounts existing on your hellofresh account.
It does not treat gift cards as cash equivalent.

Have lodged a complaint and honestly might lodge a complaint with the ACCC for misleading conduct.

    • +1

      same for red balloon

  • got 5 x$500 home. order processed with citi prestige and recieved cards within 10mins

    • Did you get charged a cash advance fee?

      • No. Did you?

        • Haven't bought yet, I thought I'd ask to check

          Thanks!

  • +1

Ordered 5x500 cards using hsbc cc.
No errors. Cards arrived within 10mins.
Went to JB placed my order for 15pro max 512gb. Split payment 6 ways. All done within the hour

  • hi all

    i purcahsd 2x $500 utimate him GC,

why dopppl then convert into jb hifi?

i plan to buy ps5 on behalf of my son

    • Just to use it online as well. If buying in-store, no issues of this extra work

  • ok i can see why for jbhi

i redeemed my first $500 ultimate awards card fir jbhifi

just tried twice for my second ultimate card for jbhifi and it keeps getting cancelled - twice. any idea?

    • Try after 24 hrs.

    • Didd you buy jb hifi card online?

    • I couldn't even get one to work, says payment declined :(

  • I managed to buy over $5k worth of cards across three transactions with no issues. The 12th card took 24 hours before I could install it into Apple pay.

    • Is this with the same payment card, or 3 different payment cards?

      • Same payment card.

All have been successfully spent in one transaction this morning.

  • Also been trying and have had every transaction fail. Boo.

    • Same. Very frustrating

  • +1

For those stuck in payment details, try to disable you ad block. That works for me.

  • Will the physical card be posted to me to use in store?

  • In Which shop can Moogoo skin care be bought?

  • I went straight ahead to use CBA debit and went through with 4 x $500 very smooth. It seems credit payment more likely end up with errors. Loading them one by one to apple wallet was also very easy. What next guys? Head to jb-hifi to swap them with Apple Giftcard and buy iPhone at apple?

    • Keen to know if this works…

      • Keen to know as well

        • +1

I had success getting Apple Giftcards at JB!! THANK YOU OP!

I tried Officeworks first and they recognised that I was trying to use a giftcard and the payment didn’t go through.

No issues at JB at all. Just tap and go per normal eftpos transaction with Apple Pay. They were happy to split the payments too. No need for a pin even for $500 payments.

The only issue is to find a JB with Giftcards with large denominations. The first JB I went to only have $30 cards.

JB has a $1000/per person per day policy. I had to get a friend to assist me with getting enough Giftcards for an iPhone.

All the best to everyone else!

PS: make sure you load all the Giftcards to you Apple account before purchasing - this overcomes the 8 Giftcards per transaction restriction

    • Any reason for not buying the iphone directly from jb hifi?

    • That will not work. The max denomination is $200, and you can’t use more than 8 gift cards with Apple.

    • I went to buy a iPhone 15 Pro Max at Apple yesterday using Apple gift cards I bought from previous deal. The Apple staff advised me that the max number of gift cards that could be used in a transaction is 7.

      • +1

The Apple staff advised me that the max number of gift cards that could be used in a transaction is 7.

        Incorrect, it's 8:

        https://www.apple.com/au/shop/help/gifting#:~:text=You%20can….

"You can use up to eight Apple Gift Cards for one transaction at apple.com and the Apple Retail Store."

The easy way around this is to add the cards to your Apple Account. You can have up to AU$4,999 on your Australian Apple Account Associated Balance at any one time.
Then you can mix payments: https://www.apple.com/au/shop/help/payments

Using more than one payment method
You can also combine payment methods to pay for your purchase. Choose from the following combinations of credit cards and Apple Gift Cards:

        Credit card
Apple Gift Card(s) - up to eight
Apple Gift Card(s) - up to eight + one credit card
Apple Gift Card(s) - up to eight + Apple Account Balance
Apple Gift Card(s) - up to eight + Apple Account Balance + one credit card
Apple Gift Card(s) - up to eight + Apple Pay
Apple Gift Card(s) - up to eight + Apple Account Balance + Apple Pay
Apple Account Balance + one credit card
Apple Account Balance + Apple Pay

        • Pretty sure the online store limit is 8, but if you’re gonna buy through the Apple Store anyway you should add all the Giftcards on your apple account balance so you’re not affected by the giftcard limit.

          • @Munnie: I thought you couldn’t use your account balance for in store purchases? Some had successes in the past but I’m not sure you can still do it now.

        • I kinda remember the limit was 8 but two (yes two, not one) of the Apple staff told me the gift card limit was 7 and the girl who handled my order reminded me again that the limit was 7. I brought 5 of $500 GCs with me and I was going to use just 5 anyway so I didn’t ask her to double check.

  • +2

Don't get confused with Ultimate Thanks and Ultimate Thank You :(

  • Just bought a $500 Gift Card and activated it using the email link they sent me but when I am trying to add it to Apple Wallet it says "Invalid Card", have already emailed the contact support, any help?

Which card can use for Chemist Warehouse? Thanks

    • None

  • +1

Can this add to google wallet and then tap and pay in different retailers in store? Or just online payment?

    • +3

In theory yes, but many people reporting that google wallet asking to verify card before using on-line, and when clicking to verify and enter CVV, it says error. So not clear if you actually need to verify before using in store or not. But I and others reported you can enter in Samsung Pay with no issue.

      • Thank you. And why do they need address details when this is egift card?
