  • Ordered 1500 of the Ultimate home gc, received it 7 mins later (used a Bendigo Bank CC)

    • Bought 5 x500 and got them all emailed in 8 minutes. Paid using Westpac card via chrome browser on Android phone.

  • +1

    Hi, can someone assist.

I plan to buy 5x500 Ultimate GC to buy the new iPhone 15 Pro Max 256 GB in December. Plan is to order within 60 days of travelling overseas in early Jan for additional savings by claiming gst.

From what I have read in the above comments, am I correct is saying that, I’ll have to add the cards on to my Apple Pay and physically walk into a JB HIFI store to purchase the iPhone. I may have to visit the store multiple times as the store may not have the phone in stock. Is that correct?

Also I cannot use split payment using Ultimate Home card on JB website to order the phone online. Is this correct?

Also, there is no way to use the Ultimate Home gift card to be used online at JB to make the purchase, is this correct?

    • +1

You could also get Apple gift cards from JB using the Ultimate GC (just don’t tell them it’s a gift card) and then use that to buy from Apple directly

    • +3

You can add the GC to Apple Pay and then use it at jbhifi stores to purchase Apple gc, just like using a regular bank card. Once you've bought the cards, redeem them to your Apple id. After that, you can use the balance in your Apple account to buy an iPhone on the Apple website.

However, there's an issue with Ultimate GC and Apple Wallet. An "invalid card" error might occur after adding 1-2 cards to Apple Wallet. It depends on your luck. I faced this issue too, so I borrowed my friend's phone. If you have friends with GooglePay/ApplePay who are willing to add the GC for you and accompany you to the store, you'll be fine.

If you insist on buying an iphone at JBHIFI store, just use the ultimate gc to purchase the JBHIFI giftcards.

    • +2

You can use 1x $500 Ultimate GC to buy 1x $500 JB Hifi gift card in a transaction. 2 transactions a day. Do this over 2 days.
Once you've done this, you can use an (almost) unlimited amount of JB cards in a transaction online and up to 1 Ultimate GC.

I bought a iPhone 15 using 2x $500 JB cards (purchased using Ultimate GCs) and the remaining $499 on another Ultimate GC.

  • Just got an email from customer service after calling this morning, my card had been blocked, they lifted the block and it worked straight away.

All the people who are getting transaction error it is 100% their fault, call customer service and get it unblocked.

15% off a iPhone 15 PM pretty happy with that , hopefully dont have to wait to long for stock

Was able to load them all into google wallet no problem, hopefully work fine tomorrow.

  • +1

Just to share my experience - also had the 'Authentication Failed' issue when adding the GCs to Google Wallet. Wasn't able to validate the CVC as it just showed an error message. Was able to use 2 different GCs at Officeworks in a split payment, using contactless and Google Wallet.

    Good outcome!

    • So just to confirm - you could still pay with the GCs using Google Pay even though it had the "Authentication Failed" error?

      • +2

Yes, exactly - I removed and added the GCs a few times but never got rid of the Authentication Failed error.

No dramas using the GCs with Google Wallet at the Officeworks terminal.

Seem to be stuck at the Payment detail screen for me. Both on Chrome and Safari…. maybe third time is a charm… IE aka. Edge, here i come

    • Had issues with all the browsers. Luckily i had an instance of firefox running via a VPN server… the transaction went through smoothly. Paid using a CBA Mastercard and now waiting for the gift cards to come through

  • I’ve tried Zippay, ANZ DC, Citi CC, Macquarie DC, Qudos DC. Still get same transaction failed error…

    • I used Revolut visa card and had no issues if that helps

  • +1

Question: say I add 2x $500 ultimate gift cards to my google wallet and want to buy something from JB HI FI for $1000. Will using google pay for this allow me to do it in one transaction?

    • +3

I did in store the other day. Left the staff know, do a split transaction $500 each and tap your phone using google wallet to pay.

      • Thanks!!

      • So you got the GC to work on Google wallet even though it says verification required ?

  • Bought 3x $500 just now and added them into Apple Wallet np one after the other! Good deal 😎

  • Anyone tried online purchase with temple and Webster? Enter GC details like cc number? Thanks

  • Ultimate Him doesn't show the Uber/Uber eats logo. Where do I confirm if it's applicable for Uber eats?

    • Ultimate Gift Cards website

  • I bought $500 and used it to purchase $500 PlayStation cards from JB Hi-Fi. Cards came within 10 minutes.

  • anyone having trouble using these at Officeworks this morning?

    • What is the issue? are you using at store or online and are you using the image of ultimate card or loaded on your to pay with apple pay/google pay?

    • Officeworks is still an eligible retailer on the Ultimate cards

Were you trying to purchase a third party gift card? If so, that has been blocked by the system ages ago

      • just trying to buy a computer- tried both instore and online- no workie- trying multiple browsers as well.

getting an error "There was an error processing your order. Please try again or contact customer service centre on 1300 OFFICE (633 423)." called them and they said not our problem- talk to the gift card people.

rang giftcards, who referred me on to the ultimate gift cards people, who only have an automated system and no way to speak to a human.

I had no dramas using any of this yesterday, and it all worked well for buying an iPad at Officeworks.

When I check my balance, it shows the amounts correctly. I've also successfully added the cards to my Apple wallet as well, which suggests that they are valid.

I have no idea what to do now - any suggestions? Do I just asked for a refund?

        • +2

When you call the gift cards number select the "I want to report travelling overseas" option. That seems to be the only option that would direct you to humans (or really advanced ai)

          • @krisspy: thank you. yes I finally got through to someone- problem solved (as below)!!

            • @derdew: im having issues how did you get this solved??
There was an error processing your order. Please try again or contact customer service centre on 1300 OFFICE (633 423).

              • @Rukiata: the item you are buying needs to cost less than the card value, otherwise it won't work. if it costs more, then go into the store and do split transactions of smaller amounts. good luck!

  • +1

Just had issues with converting Ultimate card to JB Hifi gift cards. Purchase a $100 JB GC initially, which went fine.
Did 2 separate transactions to purchase 2x $500 JB GCs, both transactions went fine, but received emails shortly to mention orders have been cancelled.

The email states "Unfortunately, your recent order of $500.00 has failed our verification process and been cancelled."

They have provided an email address to contact the verificatiom team for this issue ([email protected]). But not sure how long they take to respond back.

    • +2

There’s nothing to worry about, that’s just the fraud detection kicking in for suspicious activity

Give it some time or email the team and they will lift the block as some users reported on this thread

    • normal stuff. Just add it to the samsung wallet n convert to gc in store.

      • +1

Guessing adding the Ultimate gift cards individually to Apple Pay/Google Wallet and using to pay in store will be a good alternate ? iPhone user here, so Apple Pay for me.

        • +1

many users (including me) had issue adding more than 2 cards to the apple wallet. Google wallet also has issues. no problem adding it to the samsung wallet n buying from the store.

or, you could try to buy from the jbhifi website n enter the UC details in the credit card section n buy it. it may work for 1 or 2 orders, next orders will be cancelled due to riskified check.

          • +1

@shanlee: I had no issues adding 4x Ultimate GCs to my Apple Wallet. And 2x JB Hifi GCs.

Will head to my local JB later to grab my iPhone.
            Thanks.

Payment page is loading forever anyone?

  • +1

Not sure if this has been answered. Could someone please share their experience on how one can purchase above the max limit of $2,500 gc? I would like to purchase $5,000. Do I use the same account and same credit card on each transaction? Or a separate account and different credit and debit card on each transaction?

    • +2

Just use two different email addresses, everything else can be the same. It worked for me.

    • +2

      Separate account works fine

    • +3

if you have a gmail account, just add a full stop anywhere in the email address and it will take it as being different and the emails will still be delivered as gmail ignores fullstops.

      • WoW I never new this trick. I just sent from my yahoo email to my gmail email with a dot and received it.

        • +2

Or add a + after your username

For example, your main email is abc@gmail, you can do abc+123@gmail and abc+random@gmail. All will go to your main abc@gmail

    • +1

I just use the same email, same credit card to pay, same everything, $5,000 purchased over 3 orders. I'm not sure how do they limit 1 order/$2500 per customer.

  • +6

The card provider really needs to get their act together. 15% is a great discount but you really have to work for it. I just wanted to buy something at JB, online.

    1. Spent nearly an hour trying to order - unable to checkout, with various error codes.
    2. Ordered later successfully - 2 x $500 cards. Invoice received but waited over 3 hours for the cards.
    3. Added cards to Google Wallet. It states "To use your card online, verify card info", which requires typing in the CVV (again) and clicking "update". This comes back with "An unexpected error has occurred. Please try later". Happens every time. This is ridiculous.
    4. Want to order an item for $1300 at JB Fi. It's not possible to do online because these are VISA cards and you can't split payment.
    5. Followed the advice on this thread to purchase JB gift cards. Order went through but then later, cancelled.
    6. Read that to sort this requires emailing the fraud department and getting the block lifted. Jeez.
    7. Tried instead to place my order online using these as gift cards, with the long 19 digit number and PIN. System does accept the last digit.
    8. In the end I added the cards to Apple Wallet, took both phones on a trek to the store. Finally made my purchase using contactless Google wallet, split payment.

These cards are advertised as use online or in-store but the online part is deeply flawed and you have to revert to workarounds, which clearly don't always work either.

The whole thing is way more hassle than it should be.

    • sorry, are you saying that you can't use multiple cards to purchase an item of greater value?

      • +1

yes is the answer!! finally got it to work instore by splitting my transaction into smaller amounts!! thanks again for the heads up gadgeguy!!

      • Online, that's correct, You cannot do this. Only way is to purchase gift cards, but as I said above, this is also problematic.

    • When you use multiple cards instore for pay for a phone, do you have to enter PINs for each card ? I have 6 gift cards locaded into my Apple Wallet now.

      • +2

You need to ask the sales person to split the payment into 6. Then for each payment/card tell them how much. When ready then on Google Pay just tap and pay with the first card. No PIN required. I suspect similar for Apple Pay.

Then move on to the next card and so on.

    • I bought 2 Ultimate GC and I experienced the same issue while trying to purchase JB Hi-Fi GC (order cancelled). Can I just add the Ultimate GC to my Google Wallet and use them to purchase stuff in JB Hi-Fi store ? (sorry noob here, which one should I choose when adding the Ultimate GC to my Google Wallet ? I saw options like Payment Card, Transit Pass, Loyalty, and Gift Card ?) Thanks.

      • +1

Can I just add the Ultimate GC to my Google Wallet and use them to purchase stuff in JB Hi-Fi store ?

That should be fine, except there have been a few reports of people getting stuck on a card verification step when trying to add an Ultimate gift card to Google Wallet (as pointed out in the comment you replied to).

which one should I choose when adding the Ultimate GC to my Google Wallet ? I saw options like Payment Card, Transit Pass, Loyalty, and Gift Card ?

        Payment Card.

Ultimate gift cards are prepaid Visa gift cards that are restricted to specific participating retailers. If you think about it, when you add a supported Visa debit/credit card to Google Wallet, you choose Payment Card.

    • Going through a similar nightmare right now. Regretting everything.

    • Did you ever get the "To use your card online, verify card info" thing to work? I cannot. Not sure if this affects in-store usability?

      • Update - I just tried it in-store & it worked like a charm, despite that "verify card info" message remaining.

  • Can I get 2 ultimate cards and use 2 to checkout online for a single product? e.g. 649 apple watch at JB Hifi, can i use a 149 and 500 ultimate card in the one transaction online?

    • +1

No, as this is a prepaid visa egift card

You gotta convert it into the relevant store gift card first

      • Can i convert 2 ultimates to a single JB Gift card of $649?

        • +1

No. Go in store, you can do split payment there.

          • @capslock: I bought two jb gift cards using the 2 ultimates. Then added the 2 jb cards to my online order. Worked ok a bit of stuffing around tho.

  • (profanity) gift cards lol

was going to buy some shoes from Nike for $190.. so got a card for that amount.

Forgot about the shipping of $10…. 'card cant use split payments and need to be equal or lower value' #fml

So cant use it now :( have to use it for something else or try and get a refund mowwwww :(

    • Why not just buy a $10 Nike gift card so that you still can use your Ultimate egift card?

      • That's what i ended up doing with Total Tools as the things I wanted were all above $500. Worked fine

      • They don't do gift cards online.

Also, the (profanity) don't accept the cards for online purchases either… So fighting with them to get a refund now :/

Bit dodgy that its not clear what sites are and are not eligible for online vs instore.

        • Bit dodgy that its not clear what sites are and are not eligible for online vs instore.

I just had a look at the Ultimate gift card website (which is the source of truth for participating retailers of the Ultimate gift card scheme), and the webpages for the Active & Wellness, Her, Him, Style/Shopping and Teens gift cards all clearly say that Nike only accepts Ultimate gift cards instore.

I have never seen Nike listed on the Ultimate gift card website as accepting Ultimate gift cards on their online store.

  • +2

Day 3 of Transaction Failed. None of the alleged solutions by the banks and site did anything.

  • First day bought fine, now go to buy again on the SAME card, get the verification sms, gets approved then: Transaction failed, please contact customer service.

Tried on separate CC get sms verification: Transaction failed, please contact customer service.

    • Nothing to do with credit cards.. just need different person to buy it for you.

Ask a friend to buy it and it works fine with my own credit card.

  • Hello, I am a new to using these gift cards and was wondering if someone could please help me out
I am wanting to purchase from IKEA. When I am on the giftcards.com.au site, where it asks select card value can I just put the amount I need in 'other' box for eg. $479?
And once I purchase the card do I go to the https://www.ultimategiftcards.com.au/ and exchange it for an IKEA gift card?
Sorry if the questions are silly but I have never done this before and can't afford to stuff this up

    • Yes - but i'd suggest you get 500 gift card because when you exchange to Ikea gift card, they only do up to 200 max/card. So you'll need to get 2 x 200 and 1 x 100. Either that or 450 (2 x 200 and 1 x 50)

    • I suggest you read this earlier comment in this deal, because it will tell you in detail how Ultimate gift cards work for IKEA.

  • I was able to buy 5x $500 home gift cards, although had to use my WBC debit card as ANZ credit card kept getting blocked. The browser I used was google chrome if that's of interest.

Converted 2 into JB HiFi gift cards with no issues, but then was unable to convert more due to the 24hr restriction mentioned a few times in this thread.

I had no dramas loading the remaining Ultimate cards into Samsung wallet.

Went to JB today to pre order the iPhone 15 Pro Max 256GB. First person I spoke to insisted I needed to buy online via JB direct and they could not process the transaction instore. Called BS and spoke to someone reasonable who processed the order at one of the terminals. Told him straight up I was paying via a mix of JB cards and ultimate home cards, no issues at all and he preferred it to some of the people that have turned up with 20+ gift cards.

  • Hey guys, I’ve bought two cards that value $500 and $220 because I want Jbhifi to price match a TV for $720 that they currently have selling for $799.

I’ve added them to my Apple Wallet.

Is it as simple as heading into my local store, getting the price match done, and then saying I’ll be paying by card but using two cards, and then proceeding to pay via my Apple Wallet?

Will I run into any difficulties? 🙃

    • +1

get them to split the transaction to your 2 gift card sizes

    • Okay an update: I purchased one JB gift card for $500.

So from what I’ve read I can just go in store and use split payment of my jb giftcard and the $220 ultimate gift card in my Apple Wallet? 🙂

  • Caved in and did a purchase via Chrome Incognito, thankfully all smooth of 1x $500 HOME and 1x $500 TEEN (just for store variation) in one transaction, used Commbank’s STEPPAY card so I dont have to pay $850 upfront.
Wasn’t gonna buy $2500 and in case faced with difficulty funds in limbo.

  • +1

    [email protected] wasn't very helpful.

Unfortunately we are unable to accept pre-paid visa cards through our online store, if you would like to continue with your purchase, you will need to do this in-store.

This is due to high velocity of purchases in a short period of time and each will continue to decline, especially as different pre-paid cards are being redeemed.

I just waited a bit more and was able to buy another JB Hi-Fi Gift Card online.

Having to go through all this, I don't think I ever will buy Ultimate Gift Cards again unless there is 15% discount or more. Too much hassle…

  • will this count towards (minimum spend on credit cards) to fufill credit card promotion?

    • This depends on the T&C of your card, but generally gift cards do not qualify for meeting minimum spend criteria.

      • -1

        Huh?
Gift card purchase = money spent
If your gift card has a minimum spend requirement, this is very likely going to be fine.. Unless "giftcards.com.au" is specifically excluded, however if you purchased gift cards at Coles/Woolies there is no way the credit card company can read your purchases and find out they are gift cards vs. groceries

  • any tricks on how to check out? I keep getting "Transaction failed, please contact customer service."

    • Try a different card(another bank), make sure you check they didn't charge your failed transaction.

  • +1

    Thanks OP!

Added card to wallet no problem, it didn't ask for PIN, would I be asked for the PIN when I pay at the store?

    • +1

It didn't ask for a pin for me. Just tap and pay as you ordinarily would.

  • +1

Thanks OP. Just grabbed 2x $500 cards, added them to my wallet within 10 mins. Saved $150 for my new phone.

    • Which phone you buying?

      • iPhone 15 Pro Max at Apple tomorrow.

Just went into JB to buy $1K worth in 2 transactions. Easy as.

        • Why not buy phone from JB and wouldn't you need at least $2000?
I bought 3x$500 and thinking to upgrade from Galaxy 10 to iPhone 15 pro, may be I need another $500

          • @huntabargain: I would have, but they had no stock of the 15 Pro Max in any colour. I have a reservation at Apple tomorrow for the colour I really wanted, so nothing lost.

  • Bought the GCs this morning, received them within 5 mins.

Just visited JB HIFI in Hurstville NSW and put down the full payment for an iPhone 15 PM.

    No issue whatsoever.

Unless you are adamant you will have to buy through Apple, this works great. Thanks OP for sharing.

    • What card did you use? I've tried every combo and it just wont process. I'm still awaiting a response from their IT department…

      • I used a uBank debit/credit card. Had to go through a text verification but otherwise no problem.

        • My uBank wont work at all even after verificaiton :/

  • Can anyone help with how to use these jbhifi online, as the giftcard option doesn’t work. I am trying to buy iphone 15 pro max

    • +1
