  • I think it was slightly cheaper previously: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/791364. Haven't tested with new codes; the price might gone back up again.

anyone can comment on the quality of this monitor? thanks

    • +1

It's excellent. Grabbed one recently for $369 refurbed, and am tempted to grab a second one from this deal now.

Seems to have more than a few fans here in the community. However, I found contrast and backlight uniformity to be poor, colour accuracy worse than expected with a an obvious green tint, and 4K at 27" less than ideal for use with Windows 11 machines. I paid less than this and wasn't satisfied enough to keep it. Although, with monitor pricing seemingly spiralling out of control, this is probably a "decent buy" if you need USB-C.

      • Any suggestions of a basic monitor at 27" at 1440? Just after one not for any gaming.

      • Interested in why it doesn't work well with Win 11?

        • +1

Windows scaling for UHD at 27" is okay, but not great. You'll find elements of the UI/text in certain apps feels slightly too big, or slightly too small. A 28"-30" UHD monitor imoroves this somewhat. 32" is the goldilocks size, I think, but requires adequate desk depth to push it far enough away that you arent giving yourself a mad neck workout.

It’s quality, a really good productivity and design oriented monitor for its price.

I have both this and an LG 27ul850 which cost much more. This is basically the same minus a few very minor gaming oriented features.

Not the darkest blacks of all time but perfect for what it’s designed for.

I got this for $200 2nd hand on Facebook Marketplace.

I am very happy with it. My hearing is very sensitive and can hear the coil whine at night when sleeping (solution: turn it off at the wall).

      • +1

This! Whine whilst in sleep is super irritating and am considering returning mine. Otherwise a fantastic product.

        • Why not just turn it off at the wall?

In my opinion this is the best value 4k monitor that's not massive.

    • Great for non-gaming use!

    • +1

I have this for work purpose. Happy with the performance.

    • +1

Excellent office monitor with USB C. I’ve got one and will probably pick up a second.

  • +2

Can you daisy chain this so you can connected 2 of these monitors to laptop?

    • +2

Not this one. Doesn’t have the required port.

    • the Dell monitors that start with P27 or U27 can usually daisy chain, need to look out for DisplayPort out
Prices are typically $500+ for these models though

    • You cannot daisy chain another USB-C monitor but you can 'daisy chain' another monitor that supports DisplayLink through the USB 3 port.

  • I'd buy this if I hadn't recently bought a dock because I was waiting too long for a special.

  • I know this might go against the ozb fans wishes (maybe not?) But I decided to start buying used ones. I've picked up 3x27" 4k dells for 200 dollars each, all recent models, all IPS.

furthermore, one of them was the full on one with USB C hub

I have also seen one for only 100 (!!) But I didn't need any more.

Oh and all of them have been flawless

    • What has been the best place to find this kind of tech secondhand? (Sorry if it's a stupid question)

      • +1

Gumtree and FB marketplace. 3 of them! Great condition

Wish I needed the 100 dollar one!

if you are not sharing the deal you are Ozbragging than Ozbargaining

      • +5

Dude they're used.. .? Once I bought them they're gone.

Now you have to look for them

  • +1

Thanks Kev you will always have my vote

    I got 55” 4k tv for $50 more ama

    4 times the size

    • Both of these are significantly cheaper directly through Dell ($299, $275 - not taking student discount into account)

        • I wanted a FHD with PD for one cable connection to my rog ally but I don’t think they really do any PD at that resolution. Only higher resolution.

  • +3

I have the same. I believe it was a bit cheaper when I bought it a year or so ago. Still, a great value!

Nothing beats one cable. MacBook Air plus this is the perfect low key productivity setup imo.

  • Aww i want this in 24inch and cheaper 😔

  • I got the 2K version of this (S2722DC) for $339 previously. Excellent choice for wfh use. Very sharp display. Can imagine the 4K model being a bit better. (S2722DC has 75 Hz display while this one is 60Hz)
Speaker is a joke but idc

    • +1

The 1440p model will be better for Windows users imo. I find the 4k great for Mac use though (m1 13 pro)

      • Had the same thought. But maybe scaling the texts could help. I currently set mine at 125% and it works great! Maybe setting 150% for 4K? Hmm

        • +1

Yeah needs 150% for 4k but my main screen is a 1440p and I have this Dell 4k secondary and moving windows between them kinda stuffs some windows or UIs still.

  • Almost perfect for what I want, but my current monitor is 75hz, and I kind of don't want to downgrade…

  • +2

got mine about a year ago for $349 from Dell outlet

solid productivity monitor, was a joy to work with

but once I built a gaming machine low refresh rate started to be a problem

recently replaced with G3223Q for $500 from that awesome deal and sold this S2722QC on for about the same as I paid for it.

it's a very good monitor for every use except gaming.

  • This monitor is fine almost all the time, but I've had what seems to be some sort of temporary image retention issue that pops up once every 6 months.
I don't quite know how to describe it as a ghost of the screen staying there even after turning it off for 5 minutes and back on and changing input types. It's almost like the screen not only retains the image but also looks like someone cranks up a noise setting in a photo editing software as the screen sort of looks screen door-like as well.
There is an LCD conditioning setting that if it runs for about 5-10 minutes makes the issue go away but I don't know what triggers it so I can't replicate it for a warranty claim.
If it wasn't for this I would recommend this monitor hands down. But if you can handle the heart attack that comes with it once every 6 months then it's great.

    • +1

I have another Dell monitor that has had a similar problem before. Dell support suggests doing 'LCD Conditioning' through the monitor menu and that is why they have that option built-in… So, they know it is a common issue for their monitors.

  • Just a heads up, this does not have a DP input (not in a DP port form at least; the USB-C port is the DP input)

  • Not sure if this is a silly question, but if I connect the usb c display wire into a hub like this, will it work as expected? Not sure if I need a special hub to do that. The amazon listing shows the specs for the HDMI port (4k@60hz), but doesn’t say anything about the usb c port, which makes me think maybe I can’t use it for display.

  • I bought this monitor couple of months ago and returned it for a refund. The stand is a wobbly POS. Poor manufacturing/quality control - couldn't get it fully flush with the base. I have a cheap desk and no option to mount on arms so it was a no-go. I'll stick with my Dell 24" 4k for now which has a far superior stand.

    • You can buy a second hand Dell stand from FB for $10.
