  • What happens if you plug this into your phone and computer at the same time?

The 1TB version is also on sale and works out to be slightly cheaper per GB

    • Thanks, just added that in before.

Ah cool, didn't see the update haha

I have the 256gb model of this, and it gets really hot to the touch with speed dropping off really quickly. Not sure if it's just an issue for me or for this model.

    • same .

      It way hot

      • Ah that's a bit of a concern, might pass on this personally myself but that is a good price

        • +1

yeah imo it's not worth … not to mention it's so small istg you can lose it easily

@AndrewMTG: Can testify, lost my 128GB one last week. Also backing up the claims it gets hot and, personally, I don't like the way the mechanism feels for rotating it. They put too much friction in it

It’s cheaper to get one of the numerous nvme deals and pair with an external enclosure then going for one of there. You’re only missing out on size but gaining more in performance and endurance over these.

  • The answer is almost certainly no but will the new iPhone be able to access this?

    • +6

works with my ipad mini 6 so i don't see why not (with the files app)

      • 🤯

    • Yes, but performance may vary. Base models rumoured to be usb2 speeds, high end thunderbolt speeds so the usb drive will be limiting factor..
We will know later in the week I guess.

      • IPhones with Lightning ports could only access USB sticks with power supplies in them. There is a Sandisk thingee that accomplishes that.

So this is good if true.

        • I reckon the thunderbolt rumour a bit hard to believe myself.

  • +1

I've got one of these and I'd avoid it. They get really hot when reading or writing.

The Sandisk SD cards are fine but they rarely seem to be able to get their USB sticks right.

    • It’s metal so it doesn’t matter too much.

The plastic ones can melt and more,

      • But you're plugging it into a plastic device, and it probably has plastic inside it.

        • True but at least you have a heat sink to some extent, where does the heat go in a 100% plastic one?

          • @Grok: I've got 2 plastic Sandisk USB sticks as well. They don't get hot at all.

  • Can i copy files to this by connect it to a usb c phone? Or reading files from this usb by a phone that support usb c??

    • ⬆️

  • These have poor write speeds so I suggest avoiding if that's primary concern.

    • That is interesting, I recently bought a SanDisk 256GB Ultra Dual Drive Go from Amazon for about $32 and it had decent write speeds - around 70 MB/s.
