  • You'd want a kit with the rapid charger, not this one…

Also, unless your lawn is very small, got for a 7.5 Ah Battery, or even better, a second 5.0 Ah Battery

    • +1

You'd want a kit with the rapid charger, not this one…

You can't blanket say that, it depends on the lawn size and how many packs they have.

If anything, the slow charger gives the pack more time to balance during charging.

Charge time is irrelevant if the user has enough capacity to do their whole lawn at once.

    • My 5.0 battery died so I've been using the 2.5
Can easily mow both back and front lawn on one charge - about 100sqm all up

      • Also.. I need a good battery deal!

      • Does the battery still power on? Sometimes it's just the fuse.

        • Been a while since I tried, but I think it was just showing a red light constantly. I'll open it up and see

      • Can easily mow both back and front lawn on one charge

100sqm isn't much lawn though. Mine is closer to 800sqm.

I can almost get through mine on the 7.5. Usually need 5 mins more on another battery…

      • I can do 200sqm using about half to 2/3 of a 2.5ah using the Select Cut. Usually use the larger battery but can do it in a pinch

  • This deal has been going on several months now. Got one from Total Tools last month. My only gripe is that you cant mow lower than 1.5".

    • Also I traded-in my old ozito mower skin for $100 and got this one for $750. I think that offer ended last month.

  • +3

Got the blower, I rate it. Hard to go back to a lesser power one.

  • Best to wait for Ego redemption and other stacking deals. If you need one right now, sure. I would consider the self-propelled version from TradeTools for an extra $100 - https://www.tradetools.com/ego-56v-5-0ah-brushless-42cm-self…

    • +1

Agree with the self propelled. Thought it was overkill but own it and its great.

I was going to get https://www.totaltools.com.au/174377-ego-56v-2-piece-1-x-7-5…, but ended up getting https://www.totaltools.com.au/190803-greenworks-60v-1x6ah-2x… with the bonus chain saw. The extra batteries were a bonus over the single battery of the EGO too.

    • I've looked at the Greenworks stuff online a bit, how is it? That big kit seems to be good value

      • I've only had it a week, so I cant really comment. Getting used to self propelled is hard enough, especially when you need to reverse out of corners.

Being lighter than my old steel deck petrol is good, but I want to test out mulching leaves and small branches which I do a bit later summer and autumn. That will be the real test.

Greenworks uses the same battery type as older Victa 80v which I have a chainsaw from and love.

As for value, yes it is good for the equipment, but as for quality, time will tell.

  • I’d been keeping an eye on these Ego deals at totaltools. Only thing I’d hesitated on was that I read online a new model had been released in the US. Has anyone heard whether this might be release soon in Australia?

    • +1

not for another 3 years I reckon

    • Aus is usually at least 1 year behind US releases.

      • +1

        more like 2-3 years.

  • Same deal at Sydney Tools.

They also have the other sizes on special too.

    • Yes but I couldn’t find stock anywhere. It was there last month also.

  • I have the middle size 470mm one which I got when there was a triple dip deal at Total Tools, free blower, battery redemption and $100 trade in on my old Aldi one. It has a 5Ah battery. I find both battery and mower only just big enough for my 1200 sqm country town block and that’s if I don’t use the mulch setting. I had two chargers fail, one which came with my Powerload trimmer and the mower one. Both times our local Total Tools sent them to Ego and they were replaced under warranty.

  • +1

I've got this. While it's head and shoulders above petrol, to be honest I think I underbought. Should have purchased a model or two up. Does well but struggles with longer Kikuyu. Very hard to lower the level of the lawn with this I found.

  • Masport 58v mf's

  • I have the 52cm one and 5ah battery with rapid charger. Love it. Was going to get the 47cm but bought up, and was happy I did.

  • +1

I have 49cm mower and while it has a lot of the normal advantages over petrol which make it worthwhile, it will not cut wet or even dampish grass well. Also with long grass if you let it go too much. It clogs up and takes manual intervention to clear the chute. Deals with dry grass well but generally that means no morning mowing. Despite this I am much more happy to use the machine altogether since the time is reduced with no fuel, starting and stopping etc. No fumes is probably more important. Lighter too. So you can cut more often and not stink afterwards. I bought EGO for the hedger and it is fantastic.

  • On the market for a new Battery Lawn mower and other gardening tools.
This deal seems to be out of stock.
Any one with Greenworks $1500 combo? The handle bar on the lawn mower seems a bit flimsy.
