Any mug expert care to share camparison between ZOJIRUSHI, Thermos, Tiger and this?

    • +1

No mug expert, but I've got this tumbler and a zojirushi bottle.

This tumbler keeps my coffee hot for about 4 hours. The Zojirushi bottle can do it for most of the day (8hrs?), but it's not really a tumbler form-factor.

Main loss of heat for this tumbler is the top. Zojirushi bottle is better at keeping that heat in.

Depends what you want to use it for. I use my Kinto for taking a coffee into the office, and it does the job admirably - could even hand it over at a cafe for a black coffee. Wouldn't do the same for my Zojirushi bottle.

      • -1

Yeah, this is a "motorbike or truck" question

    • zojirushi hands down the best for heat retention.

I have the 500ml Kinto ones in 4 different colours. Recently I got gifted the below and they are indistinguishable except for the logo. $25.99

    500ml Travel Tumbler, Miss Rui

The Kinto and the above, I also run them in dishwasher, even though they say they aren't dishwasher safe. No issues so far.

    • +3

Miss Rui has an exquisite bottom.

While we’re on the Chinese knock off topic, I found this one for 19.97. Just the logo is different https://amzn.asia/d/3v4432w

    • +1

Maybe the dishwasher issue will become apparent when the outside coating peeling off cos of the heat.

      • 100%

    • omg the model pictures are so hilarious to look at. like they totally tried to blend them into the right environment with minimal edits

  • Are these good as a water bottle?

    • +2

Yes, they are fine for that purpose. I personally prefer something that requires only one hand to open though. This has two screw tops so even though it is possible to open with one hand, you could end up unscrewing the wrong part

      • +1

You need two hands to open these when closed properly.

    • I can recommend this from Stanley. I got it at ALDI a while back for $24.00.

Love the design but I still can’t justify paying that much for a 500ml insulated water bottle. I still got some Sistema bottles half price deals from Coles…

    • +5

It's worth it. It's a beautifully made object and it using it makes me happy.

      • Yes it's a beautiful object and I can see happiness from every sip :)

    • +1

It's more intended for coffee/tea, 500ml water bottles are not common unless they're for kids.

      • Yes you're correct. It's not practical to use it only for water.

  • Where is it made?

    • +1

Designed by kinto japan, made in china on the packaging

    I would prefer this

Is the silver one coated, or is it bare stainless steel?

    • Coated. There is one specifically said stainless steel.

  • +1

These are awesome (we've got two of the 350ml ones). We just use them at home when working - minimises spills, and keeps the drinks hot for hours.

  • Not sure are these ok for keeping my twins's formula milk warm or not… But grabbed 2. Thanks OP!

    • +4

I don’t think it is a good idea to keep baby formula warm, as it is such an ideal medium for bacteria to grow, and babies are more vulnerable to infection that can have catastrophic outcomes.
Better to keep the water hot and mix the formula at the time to feed to avoid the risk.

      • +1

This exactly what my missus just told me. Thanks mate!

        • +1

Once babies are out of the newborn stage, it's also fine for them to have cold formula, even straight out of the fridge. If your baby turns out to be one that is happy to drink it cold (not all of them are!), makes feeding on the go much simpler

  • I have one of these, they look sick!
    would recommend

White one is my fav colour - its slightly creamy/off white - looks expensive

  • i have one for work/commute. it's not too heavy and doesn't take up much space.

  • Do these have any plastic seal bits at the mouth that would require periodic replacement?

I had an old Klean Kanteen, which I eventually tossed because the o-ring degraded to a yucky mess over time, and I couldn't source any new ones.

  • These are excellent and do not leak. I have a Tiger bottle too. Tiger keeps the drink hotter for longer, but I prefer my 350ml Kinto as it's smaller. If you're looking for a 500ml daily hot water bottle, this is great.

  • Was pondering this last night.
Ended up getting a zojirushi, as I had one before (lost it) and thought it was great
Funnily enough a colleague at work had one today, glad I went with the zoji, feels like a much better made device, and prefer the lid on it.
