Question Answer
1. Is Boost operated by Telstra network? Yes, on the full Telstra network
2. Does Boost support 5G? Yes, for all Boost prepaid customers and it is currently on trial until 3 April 2023
From 4 April 2023, 5G network access will be included as standard on your service and we’ll be introducing capped download speed caps on our 4G and 5G networks
3. Does Boost support e-SIM? Sadly not at this stage. However there are plans to do so
4. Do you have to activate the SIM within 30 days? Every Cashrewards Boost cashback up to and including June 30 has been approved (confirmed by TA) - provided you activated within 30 days of order
5. How long is the SIM expiry? Usually 1 year, but to qualify for cashback the SIM must be activated within 30 days of ordering
6. It is showing “new customer” on Boost website. What does this mean? New customer term is only for the additional Boost data, and nothing to do with the cashback offer
7. Can I receive international text message (aka int. roaming) with this SIM by default? Yes, you can receive SMS while overseas, but can’t send outgoing to Australia
8. How long does it take to receive the SIM? According to the Boost Rep: Once dispatched, you should receive your order within the following business days: Metro Areas – 2-5 business days for capital cities – Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Canberra, Darwin, Hobart & Brisbane (order before 4pm). Non Metro or Regional / remote areas – 3-7 business days
9. Is porting in a Telstra number to Boost considered a "new customer"? From Boost Mobile rep via dm: Porting a number from Telstra to Boost is definitely considered a new customer
10. Are you able to purchase multiple plans using different names / ID (or can I purchase 4 x plans for the family using my own details)? From Boost Mobile rep via dm: Received clarification from the team and this is a tricky one since for compliance the terms is showing the customer is only allowed 1 sim per transaction but he can buy multiple SIMs and then activate them all under his name and he will then be able to manage all the numbers when he logs into the App with his Boost ID.
11. Information on what to do when the "please try again later" " or "SORRY, SOMETHING WENT WRONG" message comes up List of indicators that can affect how your order is flagged in different financial systems, which can hopefully help you understand what is going wrong. Possible fraud scenario: API returns during purchase - credit to @himalpatel. Live chat advised that if you faced the above fraud scenario message, you need to use your friends details (aka a completely different details) to order
12. Can this be used to recharge? No, this is a starter pack. Using as a "recharge" is being dis-allowed and activating first and moving the number may be allowed but is frowned upon and may not be allowed in future depending on how you ask for it.

Enjoy!

        • I'm so dirty over that. Thirty years ago I memorized the shorter code on my drivers license fairly easily because it's alphanumeric. But now thanks to Optus, who should have deleted my info but held it LONGER than government required, I have to get my license out every time for ID online to enter a string of numbers I'll probably never be able to memorize.

Boost must have serious issues. I can't order Sim and also have problems with porting back to Boost

    • +1

I ported this morning from Belong and it took all of 5 minutes. And I just bought another sim now via cashrewards so both of those issues seem to be unique to you.

      • Well. With the porting might be some issue from my end. But definitely buying a Sim from Boost using Cashrewards has been a pain for many people in last 7 days. Myself I've tried about a dozen of times now.

"SORRY, SOMETHING WENT WRONG - We’re sorry but we’re experiencing technical issues. Please try again later."

    disappointing.

I note point number 7 on international roaming, but does anyone know if your 28 days (Paid duration) is up whilst your over seas, can I continue to receive text as an international roamer? As of now my planned expiry of my paid duration on a future boost sim will fall short whilst i'm over seas by around 6 days. Any ideas?

  • Successfully purchased 5 SIM cards. Thanks OP

  • Getting SORRY, SOMETHING WENT WRONG We’re sorry but we’re experiencing technical issues. Please try again later.

So difficult just to buy a sim.

  • Still yet to purchase one of these sims. Tried everything.

Still getting the dreaded SORRY, SOMETHING WENT WRONG

We’re sorry but we’re experiencing technical issues. Please try again later.

Cashrewards Rep can you please look into this as it appears to be a common occurrence?

Nothing CR can do since they are not responsible for the policies that Boost may have.

      • -1

Sure they can speak directly to Boost as they are marketing an unobtainable deal.

Understandably they are targeting people who are buying in bulk but they are also blocking genuine buyers at the same time.

          marketing an unobtainable deal.

No they aren’t. I’ve purchased 8 SIMS hassle free. Whilst I appreciate your frustration, there is simply nothing TA can do to assist you.

          • @HamBoi69: If you read the comments below, it appears that going through Cash Rewards is triggering the block.

Based on that, I would expect that Cash Rewards can negotiate with Boost for a better outcome especially for single purchase genuine buyers.

It's either address based ban or to do with cashrewards referral tracking.

I tried new phone, number, email, name, dob, payment method, and it still failed.

Ima try a different account same address otherwise I give up

    • Any luck ?

      • work :p

        • Are you saying that you used a different Cashrewards account but at the same address and it worked?

  • +1

Kept getting the something went wrong message even though it's my first purchase. Tried different credit card but no luck. In the end just bought directly from Boost without going through the cashback and it worked. So yea cost me $10.

    • Did you use same details without cashback? So is boost blocking purchases from CR?

    • Did you keep everything else the same except not use Cashrewards and it went through?

    bloody Boost is down!!!!!
    Can't place ANY order!
Tried different cards, different email, different name, different address - ALL with issues while paying!
