It’s a shame you have to pay upfront. I would book every future service in now otherwise.

    • I am currently paying $100 to any person that has attended my car for their specific issue and come out with just that bill! No need for claim details as it ranks as a lower probability than ScoMo accepting responsibility for anything.

      • I've used mycar last year and only had to pay for the service. They didn't try to sell me anything.

        • Same. They just told me what needs repair - engine mount, coolant resevoir, transmission fluid.

Took it to another mechanic and without telling them, they confirmed the above so did the repairs

  • Was due for service but looks like novated lease is excluded

    • I thought novated had to go through their own network?

      • Looks like last time went to a dealer looks like have to do the same

      • Actually called one provider from auto guru and they said they do novated lease and is 125 cheaper

Money has to come from somewhere, so guess what
Management will have sent a directive to 'FIND' THINGS TO FIX AND CHARGE CUSTOMER FOR

    • +1

Their hands are tied. Must find issue or declare bankruptcy from OzBargain deal.

    • +2

That used to happen when it was Kmart tyre and auto. Knocked my rego inspection back saying the front shocks were leaking. Told the guy he was full of it and took it to a nearby mechanic who agreed there was nothing wrong with them and passed it.

    • They didn't find any thing to fix when they service my car 3 month ago, and they throw in free 1 year roadside with the $100 off too.

    • Gotta fund the upcoming Pirelli deal somehow….

  • +12

I just tried 2 different service periods and both are about $500 more than the stealaship, witch i thought was expensive already. No deal

    • But most dealerships just let your cars parked there for the entire days and bill you for not servicing your cars when you return to pick up your cars.

      • Evidence of that?

        • My friend proved this. He dropped his car off and waited in another car till they called him that car was serviced. Car didnt move from the spot he parked it at.

Excuse was they mixed up with a similiar car. Yeh right lol

          • -1

@easternculture: So he checked the oil and filter…and it was the same? If this did happen. I'd be calling their corporate services and having the biggest fit.

            Likely your friend was mistaken.

            • @Thinkswithelbow: No he was watching the car from the street. The car didnt move

              • +1

@easternculture: I suspected the same thing too with my last service. I didn't feel any difference at all when I took advantage of this offer.

When I had two of my tyres replaced by them, they could have done it in 20 minutes but I had to wait 5-6 hours until almost closing time to do my car. Bloody ridiculous.

I'm not recommending them to anyone in the family anymore for car services unless you just want to get your tyres replaced and choose to go with the cheapest option.

                • @squall3031: Maybe next time mark the oil filter on the side with a permanent pen, put a chalk marker on the side of the oil lid or just inside (so when they pour the oil, the chalk will wash away) etc and take a pic timestamped.

                  Check before you pay

        • They admitted and I got a full refund after I found out on the spot once I got the key back that the air filter was extremely dirty.

    • My minor service quote was $15 more than my dealership. This is after $100 off. We shouldnt be describing them as stealerships when they're usually cheaper than local independents and can be relied on to do a set of proper routine service

  • +1

My service after discount is $180.

Pretty good since my local mechanic quoted me $300 to $500.

I run a fleet of rental vehicles around Australia. A while back we had a bloke that used to work for Kmart tyre and auto come in and do a few trial days with us, we had a remote rental that needed servicing so he said he would sort out a good partnership between Kmart and us for servicing our vehicles when they aren't local..

Anyway long story short we ended up paying a whole $600 more for the work to be done at a Kmart tyre and auto over the local independent the renter had been taking the vehicle to the last couple years the vehicle lived up there. Long story short we were entirely screwed over by Kmart pricing so if you plan on going here make sure you do your research and get quotes done before hand, it seems to be a bit haphazard as to whether you are getting a deal or not. The free roadside assist is a nicety but be careful not to over value it, you are more than likely better off at an independent and paying for NRMA seperately.

    • +3

Pretty sure that was a long story long or longer. But thanks anyway.

In my experience Kmart Tyre and Auto have been fine for tyre changes. No other experiences with them.

      • I would consider a single paragraph a short story, but I guess it depends on your level of comprehension, sorry about that.

TLDR for you is "kmart tyre and auto is overpriced, don't go."

        • -1

When you have to say "long story short" twice in the same paragraph, it's no longer a short story

  • Thanks OP, perfect timing! Booked for next week and quite a bit cheaper than the dealer.

  • If I book through autoguru, it seems to be cheaper, even by including the discount.

  • $50 more expensive than ford after discount

  • Lol $196 more expensive than ford after discount.

  • This is what I got….

You’re driving an elusive car there!
It’s either so new we don’t have the logbook data, a nice high-end car with a complicated logbook, or simply an enigma! We’ll work on getting it bookable online as soon as possible, meanwhile our technicians know just what will be needed in the service.

    Give us a call on 08 6330 7413 or 13 13 28 and we'll book your service in.

Unfortunately the $100 off logbook promotion won’t be applicable for non-online bookings, we’re sorry for the inconvenience and are working to improve this going forward. Promotion Terms & Conditions.

    • Car is a BYD Atto 3 FYI. Didn't think it would work fixed price scheduled servicing.

      • +2

I took my atto there for the 5000k check. I paid extra for wheel balancing and rotating. I told them one tyre was running flat.

Got the car back, don't even know what they did. Tyres had been rotated but they said they couldn't see any issue with the tyre.

Fast forward a few months, tyre is getting worse. Take it in to Goodyear, they take it off, pull out a big drill bit that had got lodged in the tyre. They said it was bloody obvious it was there.

        Mycar can get stuffed

      • -1

Well yeah, its an electric vehicle, makes sense that it doesn't work with this promotion. Tyre rotation and filling up the washer bottle would be as intense as the service gets on one of those lol.

  • +2

My car's fuel gauge broke during a service with my local mycar. The shop couldn't find the issue, but another mechanic did and fixed it quickly. Wasted time and money; won't return again. Service quality is declining; they didn't even reset the service indicator or fill the sticker properly.

  • +2

They just jacked up the price and then give discount comes to the same. Gimmick. My local service workshop charge about 25% less still cheaper than their discounted price. Elitebrake tunning was spot on.

  • Yea ill give it ago - my Civic is due and the Honda dealership wanted ~$540 for the 100,000km service these guys are quoting $490 ($390 after discount)

got a Mycar right next to my work so good for me wont need to get picked up

    thanks OP

  • For my honda civic it would cost me only $105 which a great deal especially with the 12 months road assistance included.
However, there is no mention of an oil change! Is it always included or not ? How can I check ?
    Thanks :)

    • Should have on the summary page list of services to be performed

      • I have checked everywhere, changed interval service, even the big service at $800 did not mention any change of oil, only top up is mentioned which is odd.

        • it seems more like a check up than a service !

  • I've always had my usual mechanic service my car's. Been going to see him for over 15 years. He believes in a no-bullspit approach. If something needs repairing/replacing asap he will say so or if something can wait until a later date, the same.

As he said to me one time, it's all about repeat business. He believes that being fair and straight forward with everyone is the best approach. I happen to agree 100%.

  • I'm highly skeptical of such promotions. Just don't go there for a Pink Slip at the same time and leave yourself open to entrapment.

Hi Op @sallyj, can you please elaborate on these two points from this link : https://www.seek.com.au/job/69834122
    - Ensuring performance targets are met within your region
    - Setting financial objectives for each store

How is a store's financial objectives set and how are they meant to meet them ?
