I have been looking for a 65" for a few weeks - seems to be a good price - and generally good reviews from the Ozbargin hive mind.
Not the cheapest its been but for TCL current 2023 flag ship it's not too bad

These TV deals drop fastHavn't bought yet - thankfully - just wanted to see the general thought - seems like waiting a couple more weeks wouldn't go a miss.
did also like the Hisense U8kau seems to be similar spec.
75" on sale too - $2510 (though looking at previous deals, there was a jb hifi deal with free soiund bar for $2,475 that we just missed in july :(
it actually got down to below $2000 at one point https://imgur.com/a/uSULq2p
what..how? when!
Was just after financial year in july 05/07 i regret not snapping it up as they have jacked the prices up heaps since then they also had other ones massively discounted https://imgur.com/a/iexV6q4
Just get an OLED at this price and size…
There’s no OLED at this price and size range…
If you're going to chance it with a TCL mini-LED, you might as well chance it with a Hisense OLED.
Hi, I'm looking around for a TV in next few months. What are the cons for the Hisense OLED vs TCL mini-LED? - I'm fairly new to researching/looking at OLED tvs since they are becoming a thing now, any OLED model you'd recommend at around the $2000 price point?
Theres no "Chance it" involved with TCL mini LED tvs, they are great sets for the price. other TVs i own are LG CX and Sony X940D, both of which cost far more than i paid for the TCL. I am not disappointed in the slightest with my C825, it does very well for a cheap TV. I never even ended up having to buy a Shield for it as their android TV implementation was decent too (far better than the shitshow on my old 2016 Sony)
Hisense manufacture half baked garbage. TCL are the only brand worthy of owning from this region (I’m not specifying where to avoid triggering the woke snowflakes).
mini-LED vs OLED isn't a apple to apple comparison. Brand wise and strictly mini-LED only, you know what you're getting with TCL but with Hisense, that's a real chance it moment.
If you can wait 2024 tcl mini leds may be coming soon. They just announced the new tv models
This is a mini Led . Or do you mean the new range is coming ?
yes new range X955, C955
TCL X955 model looks stunning, but it is only available for 85inch and 98inch, so the price will be premium.
@simonizmaster: Yes with over 5000nits and 5000 local dimmings zones. It will be their premium range.
I wonder if this is good enough or is the Sony X95K worth the premium?
If you can afford an X95K, buy an X95K. Always go with what your budget allows. These are great TVs but cannot be compared to a Sony.
i set up a qn85b and used a c835 for 2 weeks for gaming. so glad the tcl had a dead pixel and i was able to take it back and get something better. not sure if theyve gotten better but the c835 wasnt amazing
What was wrong with the c835 for gaming ?
image felt extremely juddery and wasn't that clear. colors seemed muted compared to the 85b as well. i ended up going for oled in the end and couldn't be happier
TCL produces its own panels under subsidiary company CSOT and also supplies panels to some of its direct competitors in the TV market, which is why TCL in recent years has been able to match or exceed competitors in LCD display technology while undercutting their prices. Samsung (and Sony and others) now source LCD panels from TCL CSoT. However the panel is only half the story. Every manufacturer have their own CPU or image processing engine and that sets them apart from their competition. Samsung's got their Neo Quantum 4K, LG A7 G6, TCL AiPQ 3.0, Sony Cognitive Processor XR etc. "Good enough" is rather subjective. Everyone's good enough is rather different and there is always something better round the corner, next year or whatever. If you want it now, set a max budget and buy what's the best(in your eyes) within that budget.
Seems a lot like Sony's upscaling (apart from anything else) is second to none
There are those who are fans of Sony's engine and there are those who were with Sony and then switched to TCL and are equally happy. I guess buyers need to ask themself for a similar sized panel , eg. 65" and technology eg. mini-LED, is it worth the price difference between a TCL and a Sony(or any other brand in their shortlist). Everyone's answer and reasoning is different. The longetivity and reliability of each brand's TV will only be known when you run into problems…lol
@siegel: Ok but the engine is a lot more than just the upscaling
@0jay: Yeah i'm aware of that which is why I am not getting into the nitty gritty technical comparisons of each brand/model or which one is better but more of a generalized statement. There are many sites out there doing these detailed comparisons and reviews.Your own eyes will be the best judge of that but even that….in the store's showroom, all the brightness, contrast etc are turned up to the max and they usually play demo content which looks really good…unless you've got eyes of a videophile, you'll need spend some time observing them lol.
@siegel: My comment pertained particularly to upscaling. I'm not trying to school you, just bringing it back to my particular observation contra your general sweeping observation.
Had this TV for about 2-3 weeks and gotta say I'm increadably impressed with how good it is.. reviews are good for this TV for a reason, after watching a few HDR movies on prime and having to blink or close my eyes when a flashbang/lightflash from a bright frame coming on really got me in awe about how good mini led is.
I was hard stuck on getting an OLED next and nothing else but I'm so glad I got this. The blacks are perfect and turning subtitles is just a fun and nerdy flex on how good the local dimming is. No real issues with ui or remote quality everything seems great. Google TV is awesome as always and unlike my old TCL very snappy ui from new. Last TCL I immediately got a google 4k tv for it.How's the motion for 24fps films?
I currently have an old Sony LED TV and I must have Black Frame Insertion enabled otherwise film motion stutters too much for me. I hate motion interpolation that creates the Soap Opera Effect.Breaks my brain when I consider there are folks who actually like the SOE
I have a friend who uses it and it actually makes me question his judgment
