      🤣

Don't buy the initial version. It's missing core upgrades such as hardware 4 and LMFP battery that was mentioned by Elon. HODL

        • +1

He talks about alot of things….

        • Okey dokey.

        • +3

its coming right after the cybertruck and fullly self driving cars in 2019!

        • All new Model 3 Highlands have hardware 4.

    • +100

Agreed. Not many people have power points in their garage but everyone has a well and an oil refinery in their yard.

      • +8

        What about apartments?
You think everyone has a powerpoint in their carpark?
        Smh

          • +9

@David2017: Think his point was that the carpark for apartments is in a shared garage and you need owner corporation approval to install powerpoints. And then unlikely to be approved if there is no way to link the electricity usage to one owner

              • +3

                @David2017: Okay Elon

              • @David2017: Sure but for most people living in apartments it’s out of their control as nobody wants to pay additional thousands of dollars for their owners Corp to do the assessment, design and implementation of this solution. Esp if you don’t have an EV, it’s not to benefit you but for your neighbour

Also the last comment was in response to your comment about installing Power points in a garage . If you’re going to go to a shopping center to charge that’s nothing to do with installing power points

                • -3

@illusion99: Which is fine. Either don’t buy one or charge somewhere else until it’s done. Eventually all those spots will end up with power because the majority of people will have electric cars.

                  • @David2017: And David, I can assure you batteries will degrade, governments will raise taxes on them, Tires are very expensive (load/speed rating) this model is like an Apple Phone, nothing new, competition is fierce with the Chinese Polestars/BYD/Geely/ Chery/ Siac and Zee Germans are Not Happy Jan.
Also - NO - everyone will not have a predominantly coal fired EV for main use but some will lease a small cheap School mum car that they can dump like an old Mobile Phone….. Get in the bin !

                • -1

@illusion99: Which is a situation that will change because in the not too distant future most people will have an electric car and it’ll be expected that you’ll be able to charge overnight. For the cost of a car service or two (which you no longer need to do) you’ll get a point installed in your parking spot. We’ll reach a tipping point and it’ll just get done. It’s not today but it won’t be far away.

              • @David2017: Do you know how much of a process to apply for that in strata property?

                • +2

@djmm: I remember when units couldn’t get broadband and eventually the building managers had to cave because tenants wouldn’t live there unless they could get decent internet. This won’t be any different, it’ll change once enough people complain.

              • @David2017: so true. know someone that was renting and they wouldnt install a charge point (without ripping them off doing it) so they happily charged for free at places like this.
There's an app that shows the charge points too.

          • -1

@David2017: yea go on try building power points in your apartment.

      • +3

petrol station dude. 5 mins tops for full tank.

        • -3

Out of curiosity, how many hours a week are you driving your car?

          • @David2017: What car do you drive as a matter of interest?

          • +3

@David2017: a very valid point. As if less than 500km a week then you only need a charge once a week.
or… like others have pointed out. do a too up while you shop, etc.
man.. even if you pay for the recharge it is cheaper than it would be with petrol..

I guess ozbargain is full of petrol loving types by the hate comments here.

ICE isn't suitable for everyone either…..

      • walking not suitable for everyone either…

      • +1

I know, made me go nuts.

    • +1

That's why there are different types of vehicle available, including a broad range of ICE vehicles.

    • Totally agree. My mistress already gave me 7 speeding tickets since i got the car 4 months ago.

    • +3

Seems most replies to this continue to miss the point…

There is not a single deal on this website that is suitable for everyone. Therefore… it's a shit comment.

      • I don't need 64 Eneloops!

    • They will just have to take one for the team.

The future is coming and I suggest you be in it.

  • +17

How is this a bargain e.g. what's the price before?

      • +13

That deal has already been posted then so this is a duplicate

      • +2

No such thing. There's no referral discount on the Model 3. It only works on Model Y.

    • -1

      This is ozbargain, not ozdiscount

      All hail elon

  • +1

Does the rebate make it $58,900?

    • +1

I think it takes 3k back in nsw from whatever driveaway cost is.

  • +6

    What's the discount?

    • +12

Elon doesn't have to pay for advertising.

    • -1

      This is ozbargain, not ozdiscount

      • +1

        Discount not a bargain?

        • +1

Depends on the discount and the buyer.

Would you go around telling people you got a bargain getting a 1% discount (as an example). I know I wouldn't. At most I'll call the discount a deal or a discount, but definitely not a bargain

  • +4

still over what I'd pay as a daily city run around, that's why I got a MG4.

    • +8

fair call, mg4 is good if you don't mind the slower charging speed, it's got a way better 7y warranty too.

    • +14

MG4 still way over what I’d pay as a daily city run around, that’s why I bought a pair of new shoes.

      • +3

opal myki might be whats suitable for many

    • Wait, you’ve had your mg4 delivered? We preordered in April. Did full contract in June. Currently being told September.

      • Some people who ordered MG4 last week got theirs this week. I think it's due to assigned vehicles and cancellations but it's frustrating

      • It's already September, so not long to wait now!

      • The car is with the dealer, waiting to be cleared from novated lease.
I preordered in late June, initially told September, then got an email last month saying it's delayed till November.
Then got a call 2 weeks ago telling me my car has arrived.
Now waiting for novated lease to sort out with the dealer.
White Essence 64 is what I ordered.

    • Hi @ksama0079, which model of MG4 you have? I plan to get excite51. How do you like the car? Also any Issue? Thanks for the advice 👍👍

      • just to be clear, I haven't got mine handed over to me yet. The car is with the dealer, waiting to be cleared from novated lease.
I've got the Essence 64, tested drove once, no problem with the drive. Few things I didn't like is more to do with the interior space and few lacked features, eg. no light or air vents for the second row. 60/40 fold for the second row.
Using it as more of a daily drive to work, dropping kids off to various things, I think as my first EV, it's more than adequate.
In hignsight, Excite 51 is more than enough as just a daily drive at $10k less, better value I think.

    • Curious, but what was everyone's reasoning for getting an MG4 over a Tesla?
Currently debating with the other half on whether the Tesla is worth the extra $$

      • Cost. Interior design. Size. Elon.

        • design is superficial,
Elon's an idiot but i wouldnt rule out a good product because of him
          multiple size options
was the performance, safety, efficiency difference in proportion to the price difference?

    Estimated Delivery: Jan 2024 – Mar 2024

    • -5

Wow. thought they were delivering within a month now a days.

      • This is a new 'model'….. gotta wait for it to be built/shipped

        • Tesla is a finance company, not a car manufacturer. The car is just a front.

          • +8

            @ltwo:

            Tesla is a finance company

LOL I think you have confused Tesla with GM/Ford

            not a car manufacturer

Funny thing is Tesla make more of the 'car' parts than any other car OEM out there who basically just assemble parts from other companies that they farmed the design/build work out to. For example Tesla make their own seats, GM/Ford get some other company to make them.

Here for "Thanks, Op. Bought 10" comments/

    • +2

Would be reasonable if you are making a high yield investment.

  • +16

Can you explain how this is a deal please? Is this not RRP?

    • -7

A deal can be above rrp to be a deal.

      • +2

That doesn’t explain how this is a deal.

    • +1

Dominos value range pizzas are a bargain and RRP. Doesn’t have to be one or the other.

      • +5

But in your example, you can substantiate that Dominos value range is a deal, because we can compare it to comparable products, and it represents great value.

        • Whats the comparable product you think.matches?

    • +4

agree, RRP is not a bargain.

    • This is ozbargain, not ozdiscount

  • +5

    Didnt the price go up?

    • Yes as a result of the government rebate, thus negating it's benefit.

      • That and the price has gone up

The new Tesla Model 3 is available to order now in Australia in base Model 3 RWD and Model 3 Long Range guises, priced from $61,900 before on-roads (+$4500) – the Long Range is $71,900 before on-roads (+$500).

  • Is long range worth the extra?

    • +1

More battery, more speed, more motors

  • +7

    Just an Ads for Tesla.

When there is one less zero in that price, it is eligible as a bargin. :)

    • $63,701?

  • +4

What advantages does this motorcar have over, say, a train?… Which, I can also afford.

    • +5

post an RRP train deal. OzBargain will love it.
