Always love your coffee Tom and amazing customer service!

How does the Colombia Cauca SO compare to the São Paulo SO / M2M beans (if it’s possible to describe!). I’m a latte coffee drinker with oat milk.

    • +3

Morning @dammit what a wonderful uplifting message to kick off the comments, thank you so much for the compliment, I'll keep working hard to stay in your good books!

Great questions and with your examples you've made it nice and simple for me to answer. Our Colombia Cauca works very well for milk based coffees as well as black. MTM is smack dab in the middle of our São Paulo and Cauca from acidity and fruit to choc scale perspectives. You'll noticed slightly more fruity notes in our Cauca compared to Moments to Memories as well as higher acidity/kick. Based on the example you've provided I believe you should hopefully really enjoy our Cauca. Due to the slightly higher acidity if your oat milk doesn't have an acidity regulator in it then I'd recommend heating it under 60°c :)

      • champion, order's in! :) :)

        • Amazing!

Thank you so much @dammit terrific to see another order from you :)

  • Which out of these would you recommend to have for just having black coffee?

    • +2

Hey @Monterosso22 great question, appreciate you taking the time to reach out!

All three are fantastic for black coffees. It comes down to your personal flavour preference. If you enjoy very fruity coffees, then El Sal will be the winner for you. If you enjoy coffees with higher acidity levels, then our Kenya CM should be your pick. If you would like a combo of chocolate and some fruity notes, additionally have guests so would like the option to make milk based coffees, then I'd say you should jump on our Colombia Cauca (our CM are best enjoyed black rather than for milk based coffees) :)

      • Thanks heaps for replying! Much appreciated. Going to order some after I estimate how many beans I currently have left haha currently using the moments to memories blend! Thanks heaps again!

        • Sure thing @Monterosso22 sounds like a plan, glad my response was helpful :)

  • +2

Great deal, thanks. Even with the shipping it works out a lot cheaper and more convenient than local high quality roasters.

Curious about the comment about having to order in 500 gram units, as I just placed a 1kg order in a 1kg bag to save a few bucks. Seemed to go through fine.

    • Hey @BlueJay87 fantastic to her this deal's a winner for you and thank you so much for your order, it really does mean a lot!

Perhaps I need another coffee this morning…could you please elaborate a bit more as to the specific 500g comment you're referring to?

      • Ignore me, I hadnt had a coffee! Misread the part about not selecting 1kg if you were only ordering 500 grams

        • haha no stress, appreciate the confirmation that we're on the same page now :)

  • What is the best size grind to use for making cold drip coffee? Most places recommend a 'medium' grind otherwise the water doesn't drip through properly. I'm just a bit confused by all the different grind sizes.

    • +1

Morning @ssc never hurts to double check!

Is can vary a bit depending on the specific brewer you're using, but the general grind we find to suit Cold Brew best is our Plunger (coarse) grind. If you use a paper filter for your cold brew and would like to extract more flavour then our Pour Over grind should work well for you too :)

    • It’s also good to note that individual coffees can behave differently as well. There isn’t really a ‘one size fits all’ grind profile that will work the same. For example, I’ve been finding the Guatemalan SO that I’m drinking now needs finer grind to get a decent espresso shot than the Brazil São Paulo, so I need to adjust my grinder accordingly. When I had an Aeropress at the office (which someone nicked!) I found a similar experience, different coffees would need different size grinds to get the best flavour.

If you don’t have one yet then you might want to consider getting yourself a grinder so you can buy whole beans and experiment yourself. This also has the added benefit that beans will stay fresher longer than pre-ground coffee.

      • Thanks, I have been tossing up whether it's easier to buy the beans and a grinder - sounds like it is :)

We're not coffee connoisseurs so we don't need something too fancy. Is there any grinder you'd recommend in particular? More 'entry' level I guess, but does the job.

  • +2

I am patiently waiting for the next Sao Paulo Single Origin deal - I have tried A LOT of coffee and for me it is the absolute best coffee out there!

    • Morning @dvsbastard WOW what a wonderful vote of confidence, I'm absolutely thrilled to know how much you enjoy our Brazil Single Origin!!!

We tend to focus on one deal at a time, so right now I do not know what our next deal will entail. However, I can say with certainty it won't be our Brazil São Paulo Single Origin. There's a slight supply issue with our São Paulo due to a delayed shipment. Anyone who's already placed an order we have stock reserved for and have enough stock on hand to cover any full-priced Brazil orders until the next shipment arrives. We just don't currently have enough stock to cover a Brazil São Paulo deal. So if you're about to run out of the good stuff, perhaps you could place a small order to tie you over and cross your fingers in hope that the boat find a new gear. Whenever we do launch our next Brazil deal I highly recommend making the most of our unique scheduled/delayed dispatch feature to reserve stock/dispatch spots generally up to 60 days in advance :)

  • Great timing! I'm almost finished with the lovely Sao Paolo beans I bought from you. Trying the Cauca this time. Thank you for the great deal!

    • +1

Got to love perfect timing @ghostMutt6 thank you so much for placing another order with us and letting us know how much you've been enjoying our Brazil SO, hope you enjoy our Cauca just as much!

  • +1

Would you be doing local pick up in the future? Would be great saving for the locals.

    • Hey @MagicMushroom appreciate the check in!

This is something we'll revisit down the track. We just need to create a system that works on both sides of the table. We've seen that business who offer click and collect often have customers picking up orders sometimes weeks after the order is ready for collection,. We completely understand life happens and schedules change. However, we strive to dispatch orders within 48 business hours of roasting, whether we ship out orders or customers pick them up. If we offered click and collect when an order is ready for collection we'd need it collected that day to prevent coffee going to waste…leave it with us, we'll keep thinking it over :)

      • +1

Do click and collect on roast days only, people have to pick up in the arvo so you can bag in on the spot. If they don't turn up give them two weeks to do so then refund.

        • Hey @serpserpserp sincerely appreciate you sharing your idea, please keep them coming!

Roasting on click and collect days for afternoon pick up could work, we'd just need to look into the tech side of things to differentiate dispatch availability between c&c vs. delivery. However, the wait two weeks then refund wouldn't financially work for us; if we waited the two weeks and had to issue a refund the coffee would be wasted due to our goal of dispatching nice and fresh within 48 business hours of roasting. Furthermore, certain payment processors do not refund processing fees, which means although the customer would receive all their money back we'd potentially make a financial loss on the refund plus the cost of the extra admin to process it. I have been thinking potentially of a system where customers select click and collect, pay for the shipping and if their coffee is not collected on the designated pick up date it gets shipped out to them the next day. If they collect it on the designated day then the shipping cost is refunded, however that still isn't a perfect system as customers may not like the pay/refund system, we'd lose money on certain shipping refunds due to the above mentioned reason and it would create more admin…the ideal solution is still a background work in progress :)

  • I'm capucinno drinker, which one is suit better?

    • +1

Hey @dna4 our Colombia Cauca should be the winner for you :)

      • Thank you for the recommendation. Will order one.

        • Fantastic to hear, thank you so much in advance!

  • +1

FYI the packaging option defaults to 500g bags, which costs $3.60 extra per kg. You have to change this option to get the prices listed in title.

    • Hey @werdplaya58 appreciate the heads up for everyone, it's relatively easy for people to change if they wish and you can see the price instantly, so we haven't found this to be a major issue for people :)

We need to have the packaging in that order because if we have it the other way around and someone selects 500g quantity they'll see a message saying "unavailable" because we don't offer 500g in a 1kg bag.

      • All good, I was just confused why the price was higher at checkout, and figured others might be as well. Cheers

        • No stress @werdplaya58 can't hurt to mention it and I'm sure it'll be helpful to some customers, so thank you for highlighting it :)

  • Was pleased with your Sao Paulo SO beans.
Looking forward to your Colombia Cauca SO beans :)

    • Fantastic to hear, thank you so much for placing another terrific order with us, it really does mean a lot!

  • Woke up this morning and loaded the house's last remaining beans into the hopper, sat down at the laptop and your email was the first in my inbox. Looking forward to getting them, as always. Thanks.

    • How wonderful @flac sounds like it was meant to be :)

Thank you so much for another terrific order, love that the timing worked out so perfectly for you!

  • Thanks Tom. I've been waiting for a deal for my favorite Colombia Cauca. I just placed an order for 3 bags.

    Cheers

    • WOOHOO @Dr-Bargain terrific to hear, thank you so much for placing another terrific order, glad it was worth the wait for you!!!

  • +2

Just a heads up for those who care about which courier is used. Mine got sent using Couriers Please to which I never had a good experience with. They take longer than AusPost and half the time simply dump packages wherever they like.

OP do you exclusively use them or others as well?

    • +1

They have an option to choose in the shipping section, Aus Post ($1 extra), Couriers Please or No Preference

      • Woah I totally missed that part out. Sorry OP, that is totally my fault!

        • +2

Hey @csjc no stress about "missing that part" thank you for the answer assist @werdplaya58 very helpful!

Appreciate the feedback. Our no preference $6.99 flat rate shipping automatically selects a delivery company for you around the time of dispatch based on a number of changing factors. The system will select between Australia Post, Couriers Please and for VIC orders sometimes we used a private delivery company network. As the determining factors are continually changing via no preference delivery you may get Couriers Please this month and for your next order Australia Post. Both of the main delivery partners have their pros and cons, when the data is analysed as a whole the delivery experience between the two is fairly matched, we see a bit less than 1% of delivery issues by both companies. The last mile delivery experience comes down to the end delivery driver, Australia Post have people that do a fantastic job and others not so much, exactly the same as Couriers Please drivers, some are amazing and others have room for improvement. Drivers are usually super busy and often tasked with unrealistic delivery KPIs by large companies, especially during peak seasons, so they generally don't take the time to think about what the contents may be. With this said I highly recommend leaving delivery instructions on the cart page e.g. "place on doorstep out of the sun." We understand customers for one reason or another may always prefer one delivery company over another, as mentioned by @werdplaya58 we've accounted for this by having selectable shipping options specifically for Couriers Please or Australia Post :)

          • @LimeBlueCoffee: I understand, thanks for the response. As much as I complain about AusPost, I haven’t had as much crap from Couriers Please as other ones. Maybe in WA they are just horrible.

            • @csjc: @csjc it could just be an issue with a local franchisee in your area…CP have a 3 strike rule, so 3 formal proven complains and the local franchisee loses their license to operate/their business, fingers crossed given this risk to them they'll pull up their socks quick sticks!

              • @LimeBlueCoffee: Good to know about that, will write in a formal complain when things goes to shit with them next time. Thanks for the info!

          • @LimeBlueCoffee: Awesome the effort you have gone into with these replies, you've got a new customer from me solely based on this, cheers.

            • +1

@jamie147: Hey @jamie147 how wonderful to hear, thank you so much for placing your first terrific order with us, it really does mean a great deal and is an opportunity we won't take for granted!

Fingers crossed you love our fresh coffee even more than our replies :)

    • +1

Similar experience with CP here too, nothing against LB here (who do a fantastic job) but it's the second order from LB where CP has not even bothered to attempt delivery and taken it straight to the local newsagency for collection. We've always got someone working from home so it really comes down to the courier.

(and yes, I know the option exists to use AusPost but still, you'd expect a courier to do their job… just passing on feedback).

      • At least they're not using Fastway couriers

  • Hi @LimeBlueCoffee. Relatively new to brewing coffee at home. I've been enjoying Inglewood sunset blvd but keen to try your coffee too. Would you recommend this for drinking with milk?

    • +1

Hey @razdi what a terrific opportunity, which we sincerely appreciate!

We generally don't comment on other companies, so I can't offer you a flavour comparison in that regard. However, I can confirm our Colombia Cauca is delicious and extracts very well for both milk based and black coffees. Our Carbonic Maceration coffees are best suited to black coffees. I believe our Colombia Cauca should be a real winner for you :)

  • Hi rep, I'm not a coffee drinker but would like to wet my feet in coffee culture. What bean(s) would you recommend for cold brewing?

    • Hey @Kibbelhs that's fantastic to hear, hopefully you've be diving in head first soon enough!

I think our Colombia Cauca is a great place for you to start your journey :)

  • Thanks as always Tom - love your work.
The Cauca just pips the Sao Paolo for me - very handy to keep a kg in the freezer.
Constantly keeping an eye out for that Mexican SO from the fight earlier in the year though…

    • How do you find the beans after being in the freezer and how long do they last?

      • Hey Jacko, ive honestly started to prefer it. The grounds are more uniform when ground from frozen. I portion out whatever im drinking at the moment (or special stuff that I want to keep for a rainy day) in single dose centrifuge tubes. And the bigger bulk stuff like Lime Blue into bigger ziplock bags and vaccum with a straw.

    • +1

Hey @Junglegreen fantastic to hear, thank you so much for placing another terrific order and sharing that positive feedback!

Freezer is def the go, I always have coffee in mine, I actually have enough Mexican in the freezer left for 2 more coffees. I am sure to keep an eye out for that special SO, but thus far to no avail, at the time we purchased all that was left in Australia and no more has arrived since. Fingers crossed it makes an appearance again in the future :)

  • Thanks and ordered. Quite like the rotating specials, always something different to try.

    • Thank you so much @browser we really do appreciate your order and it's great to hear you are a fan of our different options, it can be good to mix it up a bit sometimes :)

  • Ahhhh been wanting to try but my timing at home is always out.

Now I am planning to try but the Memories blend isn't on offer.

    Pretty please?

    • Hey @Lange you must be away from home for long periods of time if our unique scheduled dispatch system doesn't solve "my timing at home is always out" situation, as you're able to schedule dispatch generally up to 60 days in advance!

We do have Moments currently available at full price, so perhaps you could please a small order to tie you over if you're about to run out of the good stuff?

We generally can't just add products to deals on the fly, as we need to increase our stock on hand in preparation for a deal. I'm sure we'll have a Moments deal at some point in the future, I'm just not quite sure when right now :)

  • Thanks Tom, bought all 3

    • WOW @blues99 what a terrific combo order, thank you so much!!!

  • +2

Thanks lime blue, I've been waiting for a deal, I loved your moments to memory blend so I'm trying out the cauca. (Oz bargainers, this stuff is super tasty, nicer than Inglewood in my personal opinion - more layers of flavour going on. That said coffee is super personal, each to your own, but give lime blue a go)

    • +1

I'm with you, going through my first bag of Inglewood and this is easily better. I'd rate Inglewood < Airjo < Lime Blue

      • You've convinced me - i've tried both Inglewood and Airjo and both are good but not amazing.
To be honest, my favourite has been Magical Unicorn or Dark Knight from manna beans, but I found a little stone in my last bag that has put me off a little bit. (Have used them for quite some time without issue, so it's likely a one off, but still)… Luckily I single dose and caught it in my process.

        Will give this a go!

    • +1

Fantastic @CrazyPlant I appreciate your patience and I'm very happy it was worth the wait for you!

Thank you so much for placing another deal with us and taking the time to post such positive feedback. Your wonderful vote of confidence truly means so much, I hope you love our Cauca just us much as you do our Moments to Memories blend :)

  • Kenya and El Salvador are only showing 400g bag as an option but allowing me to add 4 of each bag to my cart.

I'd like to order 1kg each of whole beans for the 3 on sale. Do you still have stock?

    Thanks

    • Hey @OzBragain appreciate you taking the time to reach out, that sounds like a terrific order!

At present for our CMs we only have a 400g SKU. Part of the reason we have only 1 SKU for CMs is to ensure we don't oversell our stock as there only a relatively small amount of it produced. We current have stock for all 3 currently available, but I'd recommend jumping on your order relatively quickly as we literally only have 4x400g still available of our Kenya CM :)

  • Looking for a recommendation. Prefer a good choc/ nutty coffee. Cant stand floral or fruit/ berry flavours. Drink with textured milk. Use in either a Jura auto or Breville Express.

The best beans Ive tried have been the Aldi single origin Brazillian…But that was 4 years ago and the crema/ texture has been rubbish since. Tried Inglewood Sunset, not a fan.

    What would you recommend?

    • Hey @tunzafun001 really appreciate you taking the time to reach out and provide helpful details as to your personal preference!

We generally don't comment on other companies, so I won't speak comparatively to your second paragraph, I'll just stick to addressing your first paragraph. In terms of this specific deal your best bet would be our Colombia Cauca, I don't think our El Sal CM would suit you. In terms of our entire options on our site I believe you'd most enjoy our Brazil São Paulo Single Origin, Moments to Memories blend and Swiss Water Process Decaf. Our Cauca is overall in a similar flavour profile range to those three, but it has a bit more of an acidity kick and is slightly more fruity (just in the background, not in a way that overpowers the chocolate notes) Hope this info help :)

  • Ordered once again. With freezing, can you just pop the new bag in the freezer or do you need to change it into a container? Bringing it back to room temp does it need a day or two on the bench before grinding?

    • Better to put seal bag straight into the freezer - if you open if you'll introduce moisture into the air around the beans which will condense & freeze, then melt when you defrost. I've always found a day out of the freezer is more than enough.

    • I usually split mine into zip lock bags of 250g each and freeze them. I've tried grinding from frozen or left out, not much difference - but try it and see if you have a preference.
