A 85" TV usually cost more than that

      • +1

Even a good 65in panel costs more

thumbnail looks like a mattress lol

    • Or a memory foam pillow.

  • how about P9?
can it side loaded 3rd party apk?

    • +1

Nope it runs tizen. but i would buy a chromecast for sideloading.

      • Thank you

      • I've managed to get Jellyfin on my S95b took a bit of work but got there.

Might be worth getting the triple-laser model (a much superior one in my opinion) here for only about $1200 more:

    • Does seller provide bill that will work for warranty purposes

      • +1

dunno, you can check with the seller

        • Samsung store does, I would not dare to buy from a unknown ebay seller.

          • @hopper: It all depends on if the seller would provide you the receipt for warranty. If not I'd skip it, too, but worth asking anyways.
I got my triple-laser model from a personal seller and it's working well so far.

    • +3

For "only" $1200 more. That is 45% on top of the original price

    • Might be worth getting a 150 inch tv, much superior in my, a supreme leader, opinion, somewhere for only about $99,000 more.

    • Bought mine 6 weeks ago from Harvey Norman for $2495. They price matched Digital Dave.

      • This one or the triple laser LSP9T?

  • +1

Wow. This was $11k at launch

    • +5

This isn’t the $11k model. It’s the single laser one that launched around $6,990 .

  • Pulled the plug on hisense projector early this year. I should have waited.

    • Which one?

        • Yeah have that one as well and for mine it's an awesome piece of kit after a bit of tinkering with the PQ settings and using a decent quality ALR screen.

Haven't seen this Samsung one first hand but looking at the specs seems more of a downgrade than an upgrade (no Dolby Vision).

          • +1

            @dins:

            no Dolby Vision

My PL1H had Dolby vision… Now I feel happy

            • @hopper: Yeah afaik the PL1H is rated a lot better than this Sammy one. For mine probably the best bang for buck laser UST projector going around, especially considering that it also comes with 3 year warranty as well.

  • I was tracking this and P9 for ages over the last couple of years or so, but ended up going with the 85” Neo QLED when it went down to $3.5k.
Absolutely no regrets and I dont have to keep my blinds down all the time.

    • Did you go for the 8K Neo QLED?

      • +1

The 4K QN90B. No point getting the 8k when there is hardly any proper content out there. OLED would have been ideal but no chance of getting the same size in the same price range.

        • Ah yep. I ask as I just picked up the QN800B (8k) in the 85 inch today. Paid $3699 which I thought was a good deal and interested in your thoughts. I thought there wouldnt be much point getting the 8K but it seemed like a decent deal regardless

          • @WhatWouldBiggieDo: Definitely seems like a good run out deal. Maybe it does some upscaling. I got mine almost a year ago.

  • Does this support PIP?

  • This or oled lg tv 85”?

  • This or the ForMovie?

    • +1

Foremovie Theater is a better option. Even though this has better chip, Foremovie has better features such as better colours, Dolby Vision etc.

  • +1

Holding out for a price error

  • Coming from an old bulb style one I bought in 2014,
How do you replace the parts after 20,000hrs?

I can't find anything on the web and I'd love to upgrade but 20,000hrs is one movie every day for only 20 years…
Actually that sounds more than reasonable.

    • +1

I don't think I will be alive after 20 years

      • I'm sorry to hear that but I might be interested in your pre loved Samsung projector. Tell your benefactors to pm me

        • +1

          Promise, I will.

  • I had one and sent it back after being for repair twice with stuck bright pixel. I have an ALR screen and I still had to close the Curtin and turn off the light. The contrast and brightness isn't there like the Formovie theatre I have now.
It will be useless without an ALR or if you have a dark room.

    • Hi, how long have you had the Formovie Theater for. Are you enjoying it . I used to have this Samsung model but it had bright pixel and now returned. Thinking of getting 83 Oled or Formovie. Don’t have any screen yet for UST. Was only projecting on the wall previously.

      • It is a very good one compared to the Samsung, much better contrast and brightness. Scenes that were washed out on Samsung is very good on the Formovie. It is also much quieter.
The only downside is the boot time, it is slower than the Samsung.

        • Thanks for quick reply. My other concern is after sales support. Vividstorm are offering 3 years warranty. Hopefully they can honour it as well as JB HI FI does in case something goes wrong. Or I can buy Chinese T1 version for around $3.5k and only 1 year warranty.
