I saw it earlier and had a quick look online while I was at work and couldn't find much in the way of reviews/comparisons If you find any good comparisons/reviews please post them here.
Judging purely from your question I would say No.. buy an OLED instead..for you it is not worth it. Unless you have a completely dark room and a screen or are willing to buy an ALR screen ..1-2k additional depending on the size .. it is not worth it.
I can’t find much details on this particular model but have recently purchased Hisense L9G which is triple laser hisense projector and has more lumens advertised than this one.
Here is my personal review:
Bought it from Costco on sale for roughly $5.3K which includes 120” ALR screen, shopping around screen itself is worth between $2.5k-$3k on it’s own, for dedicated theatre room I would say this one of the best things you can get within that budget, colours and contrast really pop, picture quality is fairly good and it does get fairly bright, even during day time with curtains opened I can still see the image without any issues.
There are few downsides imo.
HDR looks pretty washed out and not that great so I only watch SDR content(Apple TV is set to SDR to HDR plays as SDR too).
Anything below 1080P looks really really bad, 4K content looks best, 1080P is still okay.
VIDAA OS is crap, I’ve attached apple tv with mine
Hisense sends different versions of their products to AU and EU compare to US, you’ll find most of the reviews are from US but they get things like:Android OS(we get Vidaa)
eArc(we only get Arc)
Usb 3.0(we get 2.0)
HDMI 2.1(we get 2.0)That’s all I can think of right now, also for anyone thinking of getting L9G just a piece of advise it’s not that easy to assemble the screen and set everything up at all, took me good couple of days but I did mostly everything myself.
Overall I am really happy with L9G paired with Apple tv 2022 and Samsung Q990b, from 2 of the main branded projectors we can currently get in AU with Australian warranty is Samsung and Hisense, otherwise you can do some research on projector called “Formovie Theatre” it’s suppose to be one of the best in market but I am just not comfortable dealing with online stores in case of warranty issues and shipping it back to China.
Conclusion: Not on par with Oled/Qled TV quality but nothing can beat the size and it looks bloody fantastic when watching 4K movies.
A triple laser L9G does not compare to this model which is what the post is about ..and a Formovie theatre is way better in that category than the L9G ..I have seen both in action.. though yes the theatre comes without warranty ..anyways this post is about a Hisense PL1H
Oh man, I didn't realise we got different hardware than the US, thanks for the heads up because I've been planning to buy one of the Hisense short throw projectors for awhile, I think I will wait for the price to come down on the LG or the next model to come out which isn't gimped for no reason.
Wow you are a generous Santa
Well it will be to myself so… lol
I bought the Hisense pl1h on black friday for $2400. I just project it on my wall , no screen and it's awesome . Series X and 4k movies look really great, motion is smooth when in 60hz mode. Not bright enough for a bright room with sunlight but as long as there's no actual sunlight shining through like in the late Arvo it's great.
The good thing is it must be a brand new projector as it runs the vidaa U6 while all the others run 4. I use a Google tv dongle on it though.
I would highly recommend going with this one instead of the more expensive Hisense projectors as there older and I'm sure the insides from those ones have probably been put into this one for a cheaper price as they're older tech now. The others must be about to be updated.
I honestly don't know why anyone would buy anything more expensive then this one, literally looks and performs perfect.
Oh and the internal speakers are really really good. I didn't even realise that it was playing through them I thought it was coming through my soundbar . Which is good cause I can just move it to another room without also having to move the soundbar. How is it for gaming, is there much lag?
I would also like to know. It has HDMI 2.1, and say it's 120hz on the Hisense website. A review on JB website says it only does 60hz for gaming though
It's 60hz. I dont notice lag on my series X but I'm only a very casual gamer . GtaV etc. It looks great with the series X displayed on a wall. But yeah it's not 120hz . I know I'm not a gamer but does that really matter? Like if I put 60hz game on and told you it was 120hz would you even notice? I mean I play 120hz on my c2 OLED and I can't tell a difference. I guess it must matter cause all the gamers rave about 120hz
Hi mate. Any trick for it to auto resize? I can’t seem to get it any bigger than a 60-70inch tv screen.
I don't think you can resize it without physically move the unit further/ closer to the wall/ screen.
It doesn't come with a ALR screen, I think this isn't a deal as the cheapest one I can feel is $1800 you might as well buy a big tv
Ah i see thank you very much
Is this worth the money? Thinking a early xmas presents lol
