  • I'm not familiar with Eneloops, though I hear they're good. What do you mean when you say 'standard' charger?

    • Not smart.

It's a "dumb" time-based charger that charges for a set amount of time, 13 hours I believe, before turning off. It doesn't check battery charge level, and you have to charge them in pairs. This can lead to the batteries being overcharged, so you won't get the advertised lifespan out of them.

A smart charger will check the battery level and turn off when it's full. They can also have a "refresh" feature which apparently can boost the battery capacity back to maximum (mine doesn't do this so I'm not 100% sure on the specifics).

    • Charges the batteries via a timer as opposed to the measured capacity/voltage meaning if you put a half full battery in to charge it'll keep charging that battery even when it's full because the timer hasn't finished essentially reducing the lifespan of the batteries

  • I use 2 x AA batteries for my electric beard trimmer. Only about once a week before.

Would these be a good idea or are there better alternatives?

  • It appears to have a "Subscribe & Save: 10% $21.60 ($21.60 / count)" option.
For those that are not familiar with this, you have to select "Subscribe & Save" when you purchase the item and you save 10%, in this case $2.40, so you pay $21.60.
You then cancel the subscription after you purchase the item. I usually wait until I receive the item then cancel, it's very simple.
