Hopefully the game doesn't suck else there'll be a lot of dirty feeling ozbargainers with starfield controllers

    • +4

Also dirty Starfield controllers, cause white.

I joke though, I have a few white controllers and they are fine.

      • White covers the stains - jv

        • +1

          I think you meant covers

      • I actually thought this was a Pride themed controller

    • +1

I normally would say same but this CW be fire as hell regardless of how the game turns out imo

    • That’s exactly my thoughts.

Bought the limited edition Halo Infinite console. Urgh. Yeah.

I mean the console does look cool, but it is a constant reminder that the game sucked. Well, sucked as a SP game anyway.

So I’d be on the fence with the controller, but I am quietly hopeful for Starfield.

      • +1

I am quietly hopeful for Starfield

Same. Still won't buy it at release. I'm sure they'll patch it pretty quickly then maybe I'll dive in.

I'm still waiting for Jagged Alliance 3, Last of Us part 1 & Baldur's Gate 3 to be patched nicely before I dive in.

        • Baldurs Gate 3 is amazing, even its bugs won't take away your joy. That said I can still only play in DirectX.

      • +1

SP was great what you mean.

        • It wasn’t for me, I’ll say that. It was massively overhyped in my opinion as a more open world experience, but it was quite linear, and felt rinse and repeat for the most part. Also, I just couldn’t get the story elements, as it seemed pretty hashed together, and forgettable. Kind of like a MP game that they tagged some SP elements onto it, whereas the originals were much more SP focused games with engaging stories, and narrative elements.

But, I’m just one person. As you say, you found it enjoyable, and fair enough, everybody enjoys different things. It just wasn’t my cup of tea, and absolutely not worth as a limited edition exclusive just for the SP, at least for me anyway.

          • +1

@BertieBrown: Yep I felt the same re single player - the most interesting / cool parts of the story happened off screen or were non-playable. The opening scene on the Infinity looked epic, but only a few snippets were shown. I was expecting for the rest to be shown in full but it was only through audio recordings etc. meh.

Also no closure on what happened to some key characters from the other ones, and the new antagonist(s) - zero explanation other than 'bad'

As much Halo 5 was derided, the story was still better. I don't know how the rag-tag group of The Banished were a realistic threat to the Galaxy.

I dare say it'll be a buggy mess full of micro-transactions, though I hope not.

      • Fallout 4 was their least buggiest developed game, they've delayed it 11 months, and Phil Spencer himself has been play testing it since November 2022 with over 200 hours in it. I don't think it will be a buggy mess.

        • +2

"Fallout 4 was their least buggiest developed game" ……. and it was a bug ridden mess which only started getting some love after they released a bunch of patches. Even their "free" high rez texture pack (cause what game gets released in low rez) got crap reviews after it broke the game again, in fact I'd suspect all the DLC probably got terrible reviews.

Trusting Phil Spencer to review Starfield is like trusting Linus Tech Tips to review their homebranded $500 backpack ….. which they naturally gave a 9.8/10.

Bethesda has slid badly on my trust scale

          • @Ebany: I didn't say Phil Spencer was reviewing it, he is play testing it, that is different. Bethesda has always released buggy games, but I'm suspecting that while Starfield will be buggy it will not be a buggy mess. Though it will be in style if it is, we will see soon.

            • +1

@FabMan: Fingers crossed, 4x space sims are one of my favourite genres. I still have buyers remorse from my RSI purchases and it's been years, think they broke my desire to pre-order games.

          • +1

@Ebany: Leaks so far seem to say it’s pretty polished. Although different once millions of people start to take the game to its limits

  • Ohh iI like the look of this but i dont need it. I still have a red still sealed in box which i didnt really need too lmao. Damn ozbargain.

    • Sames but I have a blue one still sealed in a box … just in case!

    • I have many, in box, unopened. It's a collection to me, lol.

      • +1

Haha and I don’t even have an Xbox! Do you have one?

        • Haha yeah several, though they can be used on pc easily enough these days so you could justify it that way, lol

  • +2

I'd be happy to add this one to my collection at 25% off at least.

  • +6

People will buy anything is it’s marketed as “limited”.

    • +6

True, but this actually does look unique. I have no interest in Starfield or limited run controllers, but I can see why people want it.

      • +1

I don’t mind the look either. But paying more for a video game controller simply because it looks different is dumb imo.

But that’s me, you do you.

        • +2

yeah, but when you have a couple mill burning a hole in your left pocket, and couple mill burning a hole in your right pocket, I guess this helps lighten your load…
it's either this or buying cosmetic changes in fortnite…

        • +1

You probably have no paintings or posters on your walls..lol

    • Resale is usually better, so actually not a bad choice if you buy it on sale, especially clearance.

I bought a Halo X360 controller for like $35 clearance and resold for $85 without even keeping it in great condition.

      • -7

Might be different now people finally understand low interest rates aren’t a given like some people seemed to think the last three years while pissing away money.

        • +3

I wish it was, a buddy recently bought a Series X, and sold his Halo themed Xbox One…got nearly 800 for the damn thing.

I said I'd have given him 50 bucks as a favour.

  • +2

Been on sale on and off for 99.95 from ebgames ebay.
Goes in and out of stock.

  • +5

    Gotta admit it looks good

    • It does. It looks awesome and if it is only a limited number produced it will appreciate in value.
One of the best looking pieces of gaming hardware around

    • I'm struggling. Bought one but want more

  • This one doesn't support Bluetooth classic, if that's something you care.

    • +1

      From the product page,

Connectivity: Connect to Xbox consoles with Xbox Wireless. Wirelessly connect to Windows 10/11 PCs, tablets, iOS and Android using Bluetooth.

      • Yes, but not Bluetooth classic.

        • +2

          whats the difference?

          • +7

            @Kill Joy: It's classic.

          • @Kill Joy: Bluetooth HID is a lightweight wrapper of the human interface device protocol defined for USB. The use of the HID protocol simplifies host implementation (ex: support by operating systems) by enabling the re-use of some of the existing support for USB HID to also support Bluetooth HID.

In simple words, didn't work with tesla latest update to use controllers

          • +2

@Kill Joy: The Xbox Wireless controller uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE).

Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) offers energy efficiency and modern features, but it might not be compatible with all older devices, whereas Bluetooth Classic is more backward-compatible with older devices.

            • @fastnet: Ok so as long as you have a kind of modern BLE version, which 99% will, then all good.

      • So it is Bluetooth, does this mean any lag? Never used a Bluetooth controller…

        • +1

No lag for me using these with pc via Bluetooth

          • @BarneyKB: Controller noob I am obviously. But works very well with your PC games in general?

            • @Misha Bakunin: Yep! As long as you have Bluetooth on your pc

              • @BarneyKB: There's also a wireless adapter you can get if pc doesn't have Bluetooth.

                https://www.xbox.com/en-AU/accessories/adapters/wireless-ada…

                • @mrpickle: Alternatively you can buy a standard USB Bluetooth dongle, this has worked for me in the past

                  • +1

@BarneyKB: But that's not the same thing. Xbox Wireless is a proprietary technology that offers lower latency, seamless pairing, extended range, optimised compatibility, and performance, while also enabling the headphone jack on the controller.

                    • @fastnet: Wasn't saying it was the same, just that it's worked for me in the past.

                • @mrpickle: These are sold out everywhere! I've been trying to find one for sometime now. Seems like the only way to get one is to buy a controller that comes bundled with the dongle.

        • +1

Used this for xbox live via chromecast. No lag.

Edit: I have a 5 year old gaming skills who only wins in basic levels of racing games. So can't speak much for action games.

  • Does this work with Windows 10 wirelessly?

    • No you will need the adaptor, i think they are $30. It will work via Bluetooth though.

      • Genuine question:

Why do people always insist on using the dongle when using Xbox controller in Windows when it can support bluetooth out of the box?

Switch and PS5 are using bluetooth without issues. I also used 8bitdo SF Pro+ with bluetooth without any issue as well.

        • It think due to latency.

        • +2

I think there are two reasons:

          1. Connection
          2. Lag

          Connection:
I recently switched from bluetooth to dongle because there are too many wireless devices on my desk and my controller's BT connection wasn't very stable. It may drop while I play games or not being recognised when I switched it on.

I think the BT issue is quite common on desktop PCs as the antenna is usually at the back of the case and blocked by the PC case, monitor, speakers .etc. So occasionally the BT connection might drop. It's not a big deal for keyboard/mouse/headphone but can be annoying when gaming.

Some people run an extended BT receiver to bring the receiver under the monitor to fix this issue.

          Lag:
Personally I don't really mind the little lag as I play racing games like Forza. But I do notice a bit of improvement since I've switched to 2.4Ghz dongle.

I think some players are willing to spend more to get a low latency experience. Just like some FPS players insist on using wired keyboard & mouse.

          • @jeremyOTZ: I’ve certainly had issues with PC with BT, especially if I also had Bluetooth headphones connected. Controller or my audio would sporadically drop out and I can only assume I was limited bandwidth wise.

On the other hand using the Xbox wireless adapter for me is faultless.

          • @jeremyOTZ: Does haptic feedback / vibration work using wireless connection to PC?
            Any limitations?

            • @OzFrugie: Everything works the same on PC/Xbox with 2.4Ghz/BT/wired.

Force feedback will be disabled when battery is low.

        • Also the Xbox wireless dongle enables connecting wired earphones to the controller, which doesn't work with Bluetooth.

    • +1

      It's already >$80

        • +1

I'll let someone else tell him

  • +2

This shit gonna be on clearance if the game doesn’t sell well

    • Do agree if game flops

    • This is a limited edition controller that will appreciate in value. Take a look at the prices of previous limited edition controllers in the used market.

  • +2

problem with these type of controllers is the paint eventually wears off

  • bought Elite Core version way back, no issues whatsoever

    will not touch regular now

    • +1

So many reports about QC issues with those, guess you were lucky

      • is that so? wow I didn't know! I use switchable profiles and controls at the back a lot.. one reason it would be tough going back to regular controller

  • -4

Must be just me - ugliest controller I have seen in a looooong time.

    • +9

must be just you, it looks great. I just wish it was elite

  • Same seller has the Carbon Black model for $69.95, 22% off RRP: $89.95 .

Pretty regularly drops to this price but good to know for anyone else looking to purchase one.

  • Not into collecting controllers but I like the unique look - thanks OP!

  • Bought with 15% off gc from EB (so $93.45) but this still makes me annoyed

  • +1

I purchased a month ago at full price but no regrets.

Great looking design IMO, regardless of how the game fares.

I haven’t used it yet - waiting for game release for its maiden voyage.

The see-through/transparent triggers that allow you to see the rumble mechanism are an another unique sell point!

  • +2

The official wallpapers are pretty sweet.

    https://bethesda.net/en/game/starfield/media?type=wallpaper

  • Sorry if this has been asked, but does using this with my PC need an extra dongle?

  • "I need to get a new controller cause my Dawn Shadow special edition controller has started to drift slightly and the USB port is iffy" is what I tell myself to justify spending $100 on a controller I don't actually need.

  • Got 1, thanks OP. Now just need to find a good deal for the game!

  • nice looks for extra $30

  • That's a nice design. Xbox controllers from Amazon, come factory sealed and include batteries, correct?

    • Yea, sticker sealed. 2 AA batteries.

    • Be aware that Amazon may ship in a soft bubble-wrap bag and the box you receive will be completely FUBAR.
Source - Happened with my Xbox 20th Anniversary controller.

  • $79 and I will bite, got the CE though

    • +1

If it truly is a limited edition, it might sell out and never restock before getting to your desired price point.

  • I've got this - looks great, and rubber grips and smooth finish help it feel better than standard controller.

  • -1

    Beautiful controller.

Xbox one x sucks, lack of killer exclusive.
But their controller is great for PC use.

Let's see how Starfield is on release.

    • +1

Xbox is great if you like Game Pass.

  • damn it… paid full price when it launched.

    • Same here mate
