These kind of deals just make my blood boil…

    • Very well played subydooby. Nice play on words!

  • wrist or arm? there is no description whatsoever

    • It's arm. Sorry there isn't a description up yet, we'll get onto that, but here's a picture of one of the girls in the office that uses her's to keep check on her blood pressure — http://pic.twitter.com/eiqbWLwi

      • More details just published. See more when you follow the link to the product.

try it on your mini me

  • Hi Rep add +Shipping in title.

  • Seems like a good price for an cuff monitor, have never heard of ANDON.

I bought an OMRON M3 from e-bay recently for $50 delivered.

    • We think it's =a great price for a Blood Pressure Monitor, it's the lowest price we've ever sold them for. ANDON isn't as well known as OMRON but still a good product. Above I mentioned about one of the team who uses one several times everyday for around a year with no troubles.

      • but still a good product.

can you back that up ???

        • +1

          Hi jv,

Yep. As I said we have a girl in the office that has been using her's several times a day, everyday over the last year and has never had any troubles. That and we have been selling them in our stores with positive feedback from customers.

To be fair, most people can use BP monitors without "any troubles", as they aren't very complex machines to use. I think the point jv is getting at is whether the product is reliable and able to accurately measure blood pressure.

        • Thanks GreenGuava,

We've written more below about our in store testing of the ANDON machine to many others we use.

          Thanks,

It's a Chinese company. Personally, I think you got a good deal. I'd definitely go with Omron over an obscure brand.

  • +1

    What model is it?

The Andon KD-575 is not very accurate apparently and not recommended for clinical use.

I have noticed that every single one of these BP monitors, no matter what the price, the brand, be they wrist or arm, has the same accuracy spec- Measurement Accuracy: Blood Pressure: +/- 3 mmHg

    Here is a $1000 one-
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Panasonic-EW3153W-Cuffless-WL-Blo…

    Same as this $30 one.

    What's the story, Doc?

    • Hi shaybisc,

When a Blood Pressure Monitor says "+/- 3 mmHg" it's the range that it measures in. It's pretty standard that a Blood Pressure Monitor does this range, but what's not standard it the price on this one!

      Thanks,

      • +1

But why do the most expensive BP monitors have the "pretty standard" measurement accuracy claims that the cheapest ones do? It's like seeing a Ferrari and a Hyundai with the same spec- weird.

Are the cheap ones accuracy claims bogus?

        • Hi again shaybisc,

It's more about the recordable range available and most models cover this. So using your comparison (and you have to forgive me I'm not a car fanatic) it would be like saying goes up too 300km/hr, which most cars do. Understand?

          Thanks,

    • Funny on that link, it say "WHY PAY AU $ 299.95 RETAIL?" and yes, 11 people pay $1000 instead of $299.95 retail

Ebay $25 including Free Delivery, same brand but slight different model.
    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=360483…

    So I guess it's a OK price for local…Maybe not a bargain?
Hi Rep, What is the model no.?

    • So I guess it's a good price for local…

It might be a good price, but how accurate is it really ?

      • +1

        Hi jv,

As mentioned we've been selling them in store for years and should anyone visit our stores to have their blood pressure taken we do have an ANDON machine to use along with other brands. Even when we take someone's blood pressure over several different machines we get a accurate reading from the ANDON machine.

If you wanted that in technical terms it's got "Accuracy within ±3mmHg".

        Cheers!

    • That's a Andon KD-737.
If it was a Boeing i'd know what to make of it.

"model is a ANDON KD-5031." Your guys may like to do the research and post it?

    • Hi m2000,

Yep it's a ANDON KD-5031 as stated above.

      Thanks,

    • i can't find any reviews on it.

Awesome… thanks for that… +ve from me then.

I can't believe it didn't occur to me to Google

"Sphygmomanometers for Self-measurement of Blood Pressure"

      • I can't believe it didn't occur to me to Google

No wonder none of your PhD theses have been accepted…

    • Thanks

  • I have no idea if my monitor is accurate, so I have devised a brilliant scheme to test it. Next time I visit my GP, while he is measuring me with his old school auscultatory method on one arm, I start my little auto electronic wrist one on the other arm. Then I compare.

Proabably some reason that won't work but I'll run it past him.

  • Hi shaybisc,

It's best that you always measure on the same arm. Easiest is to measure with one machine, then measure with the next straight after. Should that both machines have good accuracy you should have a simular readings. You can often pop into your local pharmacy to have it read on the machines there.

    Just a thought,

How many memories can the machine store? What sort of power source? What size can the cuff fit up to?

    • +1

What size can the cuff fit up to?

      Arm circumference:22~30cm
      3 x 30 times memory
4 x "AA" batteries (Rechargeable batteries not permitted)

  • +4

FYI cuff size is very important, if you've got big arms, using a cuff thats too small will give you erroneous readings and make you freak out.

  • manual pump or press button?

Arm or wrist though? Says wrist here. Automatic Electronic Blood Pressure Monitor with 22 to 30cm Wrist Size.
