I would love a 65W single output version of this. Exact flat shape. And maybe 2 USB C ports instead of 1.

    • +3

They do have a version of this which has 2 USB-C instead of 1, but I don't think it is on special currently.

      • +3

The model is Anker A2046, which only does 45W + 20W out of each USB-C Ports.

    • My first thought too, unfortunately without 65W this is next to useless to me.

  • Can anyone see the "Buy" or "Add to Cart" button on Anker?

    • +1

At the bottom of your screen :)

      • +2

Ah right, obscured by the cookie request.

  • +2

These are the perfect chargers to take along for travel. The ppeer cable detaches, and you jave both types of usb connection for it.

  • +22

Note this is the older model (Anker A2045), which has been replaced by the Anker A2046, both called Anker 543…

    The main differences is that this has 1x USB-C + 3x USB-A, whereas the newer model has 2x USB-C + 2x USB-A Ports.

  • So would this charge a dell laptop say? Obviously only at 45w, but still, would that work? Or is this only for phones?

Edit: lol I guess I should have clicked on the actual link before asking, looks like it will charge a laptop. Cool.

    • With nothing else plugged in and only specific models. I would aim for single port 65w.

  • +3

    Too many USBA ports

      • +1

Everything new I have is USB-C

The 100w cable bent within a week. Ill stick to Baseus

    • +1

The 240v power cable is flexible like any 240v power cables.

    • 100w cable? It doesn't come with a 100w cable. There is a detachable figure-8 cable though, those figure-8 cables are super-robust

    • +2

      100w cable bent

It might just be me and my late night brain not working properly reading your comment… But aren't cables supposed to be bendable/flexible?

  • +1

I've had one of these for many years since they first came out (I think it was my first GaN charger). I've travelled overseas with it a number of times and it's still in use on my desk - rock solid

I love the flat form factor and the standard figure 8 cord but these days I'd rather a 2 or 3 USB-C + 1-2 USB-A version - and I'd only get that if it was updated to be higher powered - at least 100W in total and perhaps even 100W for a single USB-C port if it's the only port in use

    • +2

I also use it for overseas travel. I love that I can just grab a cheap cable IEC C7 with the proper plug as opposed to having to use one of the janky adapters.

  • Amazing product and perhaps the best price ever.

    • +2

My bad - looks like it’s an older version with only one USBC. Probably not worth it as 3 USB-A is an overkill now a days.

  • Do all GaN chargers stop and restart charging when a new device is plugged in?

I had my raspberry pi plugged into a 65W GaN charger and had abysmal uptime, and only after a couple of days realised that plugging in anything to the charger resets raspberry pi πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

    • You want the Anker 735 GaNPrime 65W which has Power-allocation.

A2668 (GaNPrime) has an Intelligent power-allocation algorithm, that could automatically detect and adjusts the output of connected devices.

      • Can you confirm it doesn't stop and restart charging when plugging in a new cable? I can't find any reviews that confirm this.

I thought the Anker's power allocation thing is just a more flexible way for allocating power depending on whether there's actually a device plugged per port and how many watts it's using, rather than having a fixed set of wattage depending on how many cables are plugged like every other chargers.

        • +1

I don't have the charger to confirm, but the I've seen a few videos (ie. 1 & 2) that doesn't show the 1st device being disconnected when plugging in a second device.

          • @RichardL: Not really clear from the 1st one, but it does look like it from the 2nd video. Thanks!

    • +2

You could also buffer your Pi with a UPS:
      https://core-electronics.com.au/raspberry-pi-ups-hat.html

This plus a 3.7v LiON Battery and you would easily withstand the seconds when you plug in a new device, or in the worst case, buffer in a power loss situation

  • +3

This form factor is freakin' awesome for travel. Flat so it doesn't cause bulk in my backpack.. figure 8 cables, so just get one for each destination. Recommend the newer version with 2 x USB-C ports though. Just wish they would update that version… the newer chargers are all bulky horrible things that don't sit well in US/JP style wall sockets.

    • What do you mean by get one for each destination?

      • For example https://www.lindy.com.au/catalogsearch/result/?q=figure+8
Buy and bring ones depending on your destinations. If you forget you can also get the cable easily when you arrive.

        • +1

Isn't it cheaper to just get an adapter that fits? Won't that just be about $3 from ebay?

          • +1

@lordra: Don't look at the prices on my example, the cables also can be had for cheap from ebay. Nowadays I prefer the Fig 8 cables since they feel more secure compared to adapters.

            • @tukanglistrik: Not very compact if carrying big cables around .. am I missing something?

  • +1

Had the newer version with the two usb-c ports when backpacking and it was super handy and perfect size

  • +5

I bought the 2x usb C version of this one and absolutely love it. Liked it soo much that I made a pretty amature video for a review if anyone's interested (also realized Youtube's not my thing πŸ˜‚):

    https://youtu.be/mzH1ai4C2zo

  • Stupid question time… What is the plug that goes into the wall socket?

    • +1

Power cable / 2 Pin Plug to Female IEC-C7 Plug

  • Is that circle on the top a light? A light that can't be turned off? I'm ready to replace the bedroom chargers but a light would be a show-stopper.

    • +1

My newer one (with 2 x USB-C) has the circle light on the top, yes, so assuming it's the same on this one.

I certainly wouldn't call it a show-stopper though, as it's easily fixed with a bit of electrical tape or similar and it's otherwise a great device!

    • +1

Looks like you could just turn it upside down so the light is on the underside.

  • +1

I just plugged mine in and can confirm that the circle does glow blue.

I guess you could put some black gaffer tape over it, and it would block it completely? Alternatively, perhaps flipping it over upside down?

I love mine, and it saved my bacon when I forgot my work laptop charger one time.

  • -1

does it come with an oreo?

  • +1

Looking at it now the carousel pictures at the top are the A2045, but the description, some further images, and the manuals are all A2046.

Even the text next to the pictures at the top says

    Dual USB C Ports

Therefore the listing is very confusing as to what you'll actually get.

    • To answer my own question - Anker support has (belatedly) confirmed that much of the content on the page was incorrect.

What will be supplied is the A2045, 1xUSB-C connector unit

  • Got 2 for semi permanent mounting on the back of a living room lamp table and a bedside. Thanks and don't mind the 3x A ports.

  • Got mine delivered today. Does NOT output 45w from the PD port.

    • Per Gareth's post above, can you confirm which version you received - the A2045 (1 x USB-C, 3 x USB-A) or A2046 (2 x USB-C, 2 x USB-A)?

      I'm assuming the former.

      • +1

        1xUSB-C 3xUSB-A

        • What are you trying to charge?

          • +1

@tukanglistrik: Samsung S21. Apparently despite the website stating "A PowerIQ 3.0 enabled USB-C port pumps out a max 45W output to charge virtually any USB-C device at top speed". It does not do Samsung Super Fast Charging.

            • +1

@redrich2000: No, PD 45W is only for laptops at 2.25A 20V. SFC requires PPS and generally only up to 25W, still quite rare to find chargers that can do SFC 2.0.

    • Can anyone shed some light on the quality of these please.

  • I've tried twice to order an Anker 543 Charger (65W) from two different account using two different payment methods and two different delivery addresses, Both times they took my money then immediately (within minutes) cancelled my order! No explanation and no refund. And no reply to my email enquiry.

Has anyone else had similar experiences? I'm ready to make a complaint to Paypal and Mastercard as well as relevant Australian government departments. But maybe someone from Anker will read this and do something first.

Have a GAN charger in almost every room in the hse. Good China product
