Any Popcorn Machine Recommendations?

Hey,

Just wondering if anyone recommends a good popcorn machine?

I read some don't require any oil? I did see some allow you to add oil, and even salt.

I make alot, gets tiring clearing up! It's probably one of the most healthy snacks I can eat volume and fills me up!

Thanks

I use the ozbargain popcorn maker 2000. Only available in one colour - ozborange.

Free with platinum membership. Can only be used while reading the forums but sometimes I have a sneaky snack without reading ozbargain (sorry scotty).

      • Is that the best price? $20ish with shipping?

        • yeah think so, that's from the .com in USD, the .au amazon sells it for $43.20

          • @bohn: I could wait for like free international shipping with prime!

I have an air popper - it doesn't use oil. I think it cost something like 10-15 dollars but I bought it like 10 years ago from Aldi. Great if you don't want any oil and only want to make plain popcorn. Otherwise you'll have to separately melt butter and then mix it into the popcorn after you've made it. I can't find the model anymore, but it was a similar design to this https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/heller-popcorn-maker-hpm1100.

    • I'm super lazy so just spritz with olive oil then herbamare

  • Have you tried air popping machines? They're quick, easy clean and no oil

Brown paper bag microwave, once you master the right time it'll be done in no time.

  • It's probably one of the most healthy snacks

Until you end up with Celiac/Crohn's because those sharp edges that get stuck in your teeth are also abrasive to the GI tract :/

But the same conglomerates that support hfcs told me it’s healthy…

      • "EVERYTHINGS HEALTHY"
        "EVERYTHINGS UNHEALTHY"

        The end.

    • This is just plain wrong. Coeliac and Crohn are all in your gene, you either have it or not. Coeliac doesn't even relate to corn as it has no gluten. If you have chrohn then pop corn is the least of your problem anyway.

      • This is just plain wrong!

Both can be acquired by anybody with damaged gap junctions in a cell lining that is only 1 cell thick ;) If you think pop corn can not easily scrape off a 1 cell lining, you need to go back to biology 101!

Source: Had Crohn's (without parents having it with scope video diagnosis) and reversed it (with further scope proof) to the bemusement of doctors with diet alone ;)

    • …both of which are autoimmune diseases you gronk. One is genetic!

  • I use the Kambrook popcorn maker which uses air to pop the popcorn, works great, but unfortunately it's sold out on all the major retailers.

  • ** grabs popcorn ***

  • Anyone use pot to cook popcorn? How you do it so it isn't burnt?

    • Use a crappy pot and just accept it's burnt forever

      • Hi yes, I realize that a dedicated pot is required as you don't want to burnt all your pots.

    • What how do you burn popcorn or the pot? Do you add oil or butter?

saucepan, lid, butter and corn… on the stove, turn heat down and shake like hell when it starts poppin'..
    job done.

  • Kmart used to sell them for like $10. Hot air works way better than a saucepan.
No, oil, you add that (preferably melted butter) with salt after cooking.

You can also use an "air fryer".

  • Thanks for the information.

I'm basically just looking for the easiest way to make popcorn, and obviously the cleanest way.

Currently I'm using a pan, would requires me to constantly clean.

Obviously an air popper would be better because no oil, I just wonder if it tastes a lot worse than popcorn with a little bit of oil?

    • Brown paper bag + microwave method works pretty well and minimal cleanup too. Haven't tried without oil though
