Booking.com: 12% Cashback on Accommodation/Hotels (Uncapped) @ ShopBack

340

Upsized Cashback rate - usually 5.5%.

See this deal for some of GYB's cash back tips. I assume the same T&Cs apply to this deal. 12% seems to be a somewhat frequent upsized rate (at both Cashrewards and Shopback), but is still nice if booking now. At most, it tends to go up to 12.5% - 15%.

Booking.com often increases price if you go though shopback and there is no guarantee the cashback will track.

    • If it doesn't track, just raise a request with customer service. Never had any issues getting my cashback as long as I clicked through from SB/CR before booking and it's in my click history.

You have been very lucky then.

        very lucky

        • +3

          extremely lucky

      • Agreed. Haven’t had an issue with customer service and missing cashback before, can just take a bit of time sometimes

      • Was never an issue for me either until a large Dell purchase didn't track, and they rejected by claim with no actual reason. Still waiting for @gotyourback to reply to my last PM…

Yep similar experience. If it’s a large cashback amount seems like the chance of rejection goes up, and a lot of work to get it paid.

    • I saw the same issue with Agoda as well. The prices when I turned on browser's add-in for Shopback.

just booked something and the booking tracked straight away this time

also there wasn't a price increase this time but they have def increase it before and different when you turn on incognito DODGY

Compare mobile app prices as app bookings give you an additional discount that in a lot of cases works out better than using shopback. I don’t think you can use shopback with the app

Be careful - Booking.Com may attract International Transaction Fee, so I suggest you pay with certain cc which doesn’t charge the International transaction fee.

    • I've never been charged foreign transaction fee on booking.com, they must use a local processor for Australian transactions.

      • I've always been charged by the hotels themselves in their jurisdiction involving a foreign transaction fee when booking through booking.com. Agoda, on the other hand, always charged through their processing centre with no foreign transaction fees.

It's also a question of security as I'm not happy that all hotels booked through booking.com get hold of my cc details.

that’s interesting - I recently booked hotels located in Australia with AUD of course as my currency preference and used Paypal linked to Kogan credit card to pay but it charged the international transaction fee. The credit card picked up the transactions were charged by Booking.Com NL.

I contacted the cc provider but they said it was due to “clearing server” of the merchant located overseas 🤦‍♂️

    • only if the currency of the place is not in AUD which it will tell ya

      good tip though

  • Need westpac bonus cashback for this to be a good deal

  • Great deal. Checked some dates, no inflated prices being shown for the hotels I was searching

  • Expedia was 14.5% on Friday. Missed the boat.

  • Expedia checked Japan accomm vs booking.com. even after discount 14.5%. Booking.com still cheaper. Be careful.

  • booked oaks melbourne for 30% off, 4 nights for $578 and getting back 12%

    Thanks OP

How does this work with reservations where you don't pay anything to booking.com? i.e. pay direct to hotel in 6+ months time.

  • Does anyone know when this expires?
