Is Samsung B-Die still the best on DDR5 like DDR4?

    • +10

This generation the best dies are Hynix A and followed by Hynix M. Most kits with 6000MHz CL30 are likely to be Hynix M die. Samsung B die are in the 3rd place and considered less desirable. However at these prices, it is acceptable. You are unlikely able to tell the difference in performance unless you tune every single attribute of the dies.

CL40 is slowwww. Spend the extra and try get a 6000 CL30 kit. Also Samsung/Micron die aren't great. Try get Hynix

Oh ok so cl30 is the sweet spot. So pretty much any 6000 CL30 is best?

I'm looking for RBG ram 2x16gb sticks. This will be the first purchase of my next rig.

    • I’d recommend getting any cheap $140 M-die kit and just manually setting the timings to 6000 CL30 or CL28. I brought a vulcan 5600 CL36 kit and it can do 6000 Cl28 with no effort at 1.38v or 7800 CL36 at 1.4v. Or if you have extra budget to spare, you can buy a T-Create Hynix A-die kit for $148.95 which can easily do 8000MHz+. Don’t pay more for a CL30 kit when it takes 2 minutes to set the timings yourself.

      • Hi.
Do you have a link for the T-Create kit for $148.95.
        Cheers.

        • Hey, sorry for the long response time. It was on discount on Amazon US recently at $151 and was posted on OzBargain https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/788448. I’ve seen the kit for even cheaper earlier but can’t seem find it anymore for below $160 so you may need to wait until the prices drop again. AFAIK the cheapest place to currently get it is still Amazon for $160.18 https://www.amazon (DOT) com.au/dp/B0BPHRVYX9?th=1
