  • How's the sizing of 5-10's sizing these days?
I tried a pair on a few month ago and they were smaller than the pair I own and considerably narrower.

Five ten mtb shoes are great. Check sizing, i think probably order a half size up.

Agree. I originally bought size 9 as that is what normally wear but ended up needing 9.5. Great shoe for MTB riding.

      • Yep agree, im normally a 9 (EU 43), got a 9.5 and its a little bit tight, but not too tight to send them back.

If you have a wide foot then look into the standard FreeRider. The Pro's run narrow.

I have the Five Ten Adidas FreeRider MTB Shoes Black/Olive, they're half-price down to $90

Going from a New Balance 2E 10.5, these in the 10.5 fits great, took a couple of rides to stretch and break in, but given their leather once you get them soaked they'll form to your foot nicely.

Main consideration is there is a Pro version that isn't canvas and would have better water resistance, my toes are squishy on winter shreds in the standard FreeRiders haha

    • Thanks for that. I'm 2E 10.5 in New Balance too, so your comment is very relevant.

Well worth the buy, I've got some nasty scars on my shins from slipping of pedals riding in New Balance runners… These things are incredibly grippy, and haven't slid off once, including black trail runs, wish I made the buy earlier

    • They have no questions asked returns, but you have to pay postage; tempted to get two sizes to make sure.

This is the non canvas version for $15 more:

At this price it's worth it to get as a commuter/casual riding shoe too. Black colour makes it passable to wear at the office if not too worried about the stiff sole.

  • Can you bolt a cleat onto these ?

      • +1

Thankyou. What are these like to walk in?? Could you comfortably use them a Bikepacking shoe?? Ie on the bike/cleat half the day, walking around town/camp in the arvo??

        • +1

I've used the Freeride as bike packing shoes no worries!

If you can handle the narrower Pro version it's probably worth it for the slightly stiffer sole/shank.

I also have a 5-10 cleated shoe but barely used it and didn't really suffer for it.

          • @Telios: Thanks for advice. I more meant the cleared ones. Not keen on doing big km in flats! What do you mean about your cleated 5-10??

  • I'm 10.5 in Adidas Ultraboost and Nike shoes. Are these true to size

    • +1

From my experience, I would say yes.

Great find OP! More mtb deals please.

  • Too bad not as good as the deal from last year:

Not sure what you mean champ. The deal you linked to is $99 del. This deal is $95 del. So cheaper for the same pair and a better colorway

  • Anyone have any experience if these will stretch at all? Got mine today and they are super narrow and tight on the sides. I had already gone up half a size and there is lots of room at the front, so not sure if i want to go up another half size
