    Hi! I got the pricematched with JB HIfi, so I could get their promo for the $99 remote/shooting grip OR add-on microphone.
    It also stacks with their 15% off Sony lenses if you purchase it in one receipt.

    • They said "Unfortunately since they are awaiting stock/ on back order I cannot match their pricing for this product", can you teach me on how you actually get the price match? Thanks.

      • +1

        I did it over the phone on their sales line and I got it price matched.
        But maybe they are seeing an uptick in purchases and are being more stringent?

    • Where do you find out about the 15% off Sony lenses offer? is that via JB-Hi FI?

    • +1

      Any chance youre able to share your receipt?

  • How does this compare to the a6500.
    Is there a massive difference?
    Sorry noob with cameras but i got recommended the 6500

    • Compared to the a6500, this is a cheaper camera marketed to videographers while still having a high quality sensor and ability to use Sony e-mount lenses.

      The ZV-E10 is made less expensive by leaving off features that mostly desirable for still photography
      * no viewfinder
      * no inbuilt flash
      * no in-body optical image stabilisation
      * reduced manual controls

    • Generally if you don't need an EVF get this instead. Better AF, no recording limits, flippy screen and newer processor so slightly more efficient. Both cameras have the same image quality.

  • What's a good lens for YouTube videocast?
    What's a good lens for everyday photography with this?
    Please.

      Kit lens is not a bad start.
      But for video, sigma 18mm-50mm f2.8.
      And if you want to fork out more $$$ for wider and longer reach?
      Tamron 17mm-70mm f2.8.

  • Ever since my NEX-6 developed sticky shutters right after warranty expired i lost faith in Sony cameras despite their fantastic image quality and lens. Does these newer models (A6000 series) develop similar problem?

    I don’t like the kit lens

    • Agreed, it's decent to begin with but combine it with the active stabilisation and you have a very zoomed in view.

      I swapped it with a second hand Sony SEL1018 10-18mm lens to compensate.

      Granted it's almost the same price as the camera itself, I'd recommend opting for a gimbal instead to remove the software stabilisation and to get a bigger frame.

    • Is the kit lens as same as my 10 years old nex-6 kit lens?

      • From memory no. The 1650 that we got is non-powered zoom with longer lens body. This one looks like SELP1650 where the lens body extends when you power it on, zoom is by tugging a slider which then drives a motor to zoom the lens.

        By the way does your NEX6 still work?

        • My 1650 has power zoom. Model selp1650. Looks as same as this one but in sliver. Surprised that it hasn’t been upgraded at all?

          My Nex6 is still working. Maybe coz I didn’t use it in the last 5years.

          • @rhyme324: Nice that your works still it's a lovely camera. Mine developed some dead magenta pixels then sticky shutters, had to DIY to fix the shutter, broke the EVF in the process, so now I have equivalent of NEX3 with dead pixels.

            Tried to move to OMD and m34 system but the body and lens was too small… would like get back into e mount but still concerned about longevity of camera.

    Bought this camera about 14 months ago. Just use it for holiday snaps, but it has been great for that purpose. We have a couple of other lenses, but for situations like a hike where you don't want to carry much the kit lens is fine. The photos look great printed out, we have a couple of large landscapes framed that came out of this just through auto settings.

    The main drawbacks I would highlight are:
    - The screen is very ordinary. It is not a touch screen (which is fine, but seems like an oversight given that this is marketed to zoomers/youtubers), and the screen quality is not that impressive. Given this, you should wait until you get back to a laptop to review the photos as they look so much better on a proper screen. There were several instances where someone with a new flagship phone would take the same picture as we would with the camera, and their picture would look so much better just due to the quality of the phone screen and the post-processing software. However, once you get back to a computer and start zooming in you can see a lot more detail coming out of the Sony.

    • As someone mentioned above, it crops videos to make up for the lack of image stabilisation. It crops more than you'd think too, so get used to setting up video shots a lot wider than you would expect so that the final output is what you want. Unfortunately sometimes this is not always possible so some subjects or objects end up being out of frame.

    • A couple of minor nice-to-haves are missing such as viewfinder and flash, but those are sacrifices you make for the light weight and small size.

    For the price I think this is a great camera for someone who:
    - Is looking to take photos that are better than phone quality, especially for printing out,
    - Wants to be able to change lenses,
    - Would like to dabble in some of the manual settings. The point-and-click auto settings are great, but the manual options are worth exploring,
    - Would like the smallest size/weight.

    • Great points. Generally speaking I recommend people just use their phone unless they want to get more into the whole process of photography. Compared to most modern phones with hdr video and all the processing they do, the general population will get better results with a new phone compared to this with the kit lens.

      But getting a few fast apsc primes for this is a game changer and makes the process of using it and the quality of photos and videos so much better.

  • I'm extremely dubious about digiDirect. I have placed two orders with them within the last 9 months. Both were cancelled as they were unable to fulfil the order. If you want this deal, use digiDirect to try and get a price match from a retailer who has stock on hand. Don't risk placing an order with them only to get nothing but a delayed refund.
