Aldi (Garden Line) 4-Stroke Petrol Lawn Edger $169

70

2.5hp. 4 stroke engine. Adjustable blade height. 3 wheel design. Robust metal construction. Full crank engine. 65mn metal blade. FOR PROFESSIONAL STRAIGHT EDGES. 1 YEAR WARRANTY. 23kg.

This is the same bargain that was posted around the same last year. Has to be the cheapest 4 stroke edger I've seen. Did anyone buy this last year, if so, is this item any good? Tempted to just to buy and try since Aldi have their 60 day refund policy.

I just tilt my 2 stroke line trimmer and it does the job..

    • Thats what I do too,

But these things can do a way better job, they are faster also.

Would love to here more on other experiences with these things from Aldi

  • How much damage when you hit the concrete

I've got an electric edger, which I presume has similar power to this machine, & it's fairly dodgy to use, especially in our old house where the concrete edging was a bit broken up, so it was easy for the machine to dip in & smash the concrete. Also had to be very careful of hitting the occasional stone that has fallen into the edge, they get fired out at lethal velocity. Then you have the issue of doing concrete lawn edging, not enough room for the machine to sit on the narrow concrete edge so you have to run it along the grass, which isn't smooth, so the machine is hard to control so it does whack the concrete.
Now days I just stick to the wipper snipper or just use a manual edger.

I bought one of these from last year. Not the best made item in the world but it does the job well, that is it's great for trimming edges along concrete paths. It's not really any good on lose or rough ground.

Can't say it starts 1st time but it usually starts after a few goes.

  • what do people think of the $129 25cc straight brush cutter? http://aldi.com.au/au/html/offers/2827_23383.htm
