Pretty decent price considering the batteries are 2.5Ah rather than the 1.5Ah often included in the cheap kits. Not high end tools by any stretch but fine for occasional use around the house. I purchased just for the batteries and will sell the other parts. Annoyingly the price dropped by $10 just after I purchased….

are brushless better for driving in screws without pre-drilling?
got a an aldi brush set (Drill Driver, Impact Driver) and it can't do this without pre drilling.
it will stop driving in the screw and if I try to drive it in, it will just wear out (torque out?) the phillip's head screw rather than driving in the screw into the fence wood. Also even with pre drilling (if the drill hole is too small for the screw), it stop driving in the screw and same problem occurs as mention.

How big and long are the screws and what is the type of wood are you using the aldi drill on?
screw length varies depends of what I find
usually they are about 40mm to 60mmIt is grey fence wood and the wooden beam that the fence wood gets attached to.
not sure what wood that it
The amount of torque isn’t dictated by whether it’s brushed or brushless.
Are you saying that your screw driver is stripping the Phillips head? That would be an issue with bit size or pressure used.
yeah basically it stops driving the screw into the fence wood + horizontal wood beam and then causes stripping of the screw head if I continue to drive it.
not screw bit or pressure..
I apply quite good pressure and chose a suitable size screw bit.It just stops driving screw and would strip the screw head if I keep trying to drive it in
also the impact drive would have smoke smell and get more hot if I try it anymore.Basically the wood seems too hard for the screw to go into easily
and so the screw stops go in.
For driving in screws without predrilling, look for a drill/driver will high torque value. Brush/Brushless does not affect this function.
I have this Impact Driver in this set and can advise it has max 130 Nm of torque, suffice to drive screws into hardwood without predrilling.
what type of wood is used in those grey fence pickets wood + the long horizontal thicker wood that those fence pickets gets nailed to?
yeah i don't know what torque the aldi one are but they are brushed ..
and it won't drive the screw into the two wood pieces (this is a predrill hole of both wood).
I would then need to drill the hole bigger so it can drive the screw in fully.
Hi mate,
What was the hammer drill like for masonry/concrete?I have never had a battery drill that can handle concrete. If you want a really nice, cut-through-like-butter experience get a rotary hammer drill. They are so worth it for nice holes in concrete.
Looks like there is a further 15% discount for anyone willing to use Afterpay to pay for their purchase.
Code is APAYDAY4
does DASO20 code stack with APAYDAY4 code?
I'm not an eBay Plus subscriber, so can't use that code
DASO20 doesn't seem to work any more - "Unfortunately, this code no longer works. Please continue with your order."
I own a pair of these, purchased when Masters were closing down. I have used them for over 10 years and they have been through 5 renovations including installation of two outdoor verandahs as well as a bunch of carpentry builds. Both batteries have since been replaced at about the 10 year mark however the drills have not skipped a beat.
Obviously they don't compare with the higher end stuff, but if comparing to ozito or Ryobi range, these are much more ergonomic and feel better quality in my opinion.
