  • can someone comment if this is a worthy update on my 5-6 years old V6?

    • +8

Definitely, lighter, more powerful, push button (vs trigger), laser light…

      • What about upgrading from a v10? They look the same.

        • V12 has a much smaller dust bin

          • @mrblu: Than its a pass. I find my v10 bin barely adequate

    • +2

Worth every cents, I have small kids who always wanting to help with house cleaning and this V12 slim is light enough for them to use.

I don't need a bigger capacity vacuum as most of the vacuum work has been done by my Roborock S8 pro ultra.

Tell me you're rich without telling me you're rich šŸ¤£

        • +2

Nah they've been a registered account since 2018. The Roborock was probably $5.68 with 2 coupons, a price error, and discounted gift cards and the V12 fell off a truck.

  • 150 Air Watts vs 230 for the V15

  • Geez is this the lowest historical price for this model? Wonder if the people who only recently bought the other deal can get a refund from dyson lol.

    • They have a liberal return policy, money back within 45 days so most likely yeah they can.

  • +2

Do you guys think its worth returning V8 origin plus (unopened from previous deal) and purchase this? Im not very aware of the differences

    • Would like to know also

      • +2

        https://www.rtings.com/vacuum/tools/compare/dyson-v8-vs-dysoā€¦

        {TLDR}

The Dyson V12 Detect Slim is better than the Dyson V8. The V12 offers vastly improved battery performance, with a longer runtime and a much shorter recharge time. It also performs better on bare floors and is more effective in dealing with debris in cracks and crevices when used with its Laser Slim floorhead. It weighs a little less, making it even easier to maneuver. The V12 also has an automatic power adjustment feature, which allows it to increase its suction mode on carpeting or when it detects a significant concentration of debris. That said, the V8 has a larger dirt compartment with over twice the capacity.

      • +1

For me the low bin capacity is the biggest drawback: https://www.reviews.org/au/lifestyle/dyson-v12-detect-slim-rā€¦

    • Depends if you need the bin capacity. Note that it canā€™t really be filled - thereā€™s the ā€œmaxā€ line which is quite low so real capacity isnā€™t great.

      • +1

Why are there so many models?!? Makes my head explode.

      • Thanks for posting I was going to buy but now think my existing v10 is similar or better for my needs than a new v12 slim.

    • +1

If you have more hard floor and less carpet, go with v12. If you do have more carpets, better have v10 or v11.
I've got two v8, one upstairs and one downstairs. When I clean the carpets upstairs, it easily gets two full bins.

  • This or Gen5 for $899?

  • This is the best for unit.

  • +1

man I bought a v10 absolute at this price last year.

  • +1

Wow what an awesome price. I paid $950 a few months ago, and that was on sale from $1,300!

Chose this over the V15 / Gen5 as it's much more portable. Even in our 4 bedroom house it has more than enough power and battery, so I couldn't see a reason to choose the bulkier models. Only downside is the dust bin is quite a bit smaller, but it takes 2 seconds to empty it so it's not a big deal.

    • Takes longer than two seconds to empty, unless you're emptying it on the floor.

  • My afterpay limit is $600 (only used it once). Any way around it?

    • +2

Pay the rest with EB gift card

      • Thanks for the tip. Bought.

      • How?

        • I originally read your hint as an EB card rather than eBay.

          • @barryquinn: Ebay GC from Shopback app.

            • @Buy2Much: It took me too long to get the gift card, and the Dyson was OOS by that time. Still is OOS.

  • Should I get this or get 2x V7s?

  • +1

I paid $689 for this v12 in April via Dyson eBay, so I'm not sure if it's the cheapest price, maybe if you include shopback.

Happy with it so far, the battery on it lasts a little less than my V8 when used in auto mode so I bought a spare battery for it.

    • Thereā€™s a cheaper Absolute version with less tools. This is the Complete which have the whole lot.

      • Mine was the complete

  • My dyson broke. I went for the Samsung bespoke with the suction station for $800. By far the best vaccum I've had so far.

    • +1

Be worth mentioning which Dyson to help others.

      • +1

        V11 absolute

        • +1

yup, I had a V10 absolute, broke like a week past the 1 year warranty. Have had the samsung for about a year now, great product.

          • @kouk: Honestly, after owning 2 dyson top of the range, the samsung is a power house! Solid vaccum. Plus the vaccum station is amazing. No more hand empting.

  • Have two cats in the apartment, should I wait for a V15(which has stronger motor) deal? Currently with 5-year V7 which needs an upgrade.

  • +1

    bought, thank you!

    • You did not wait for SB cash back? šŸ˜‰

      • +2

        you snooze, you lose

      • can't risk it being out of stock :)

  • +1

Out of stock… :-(. Just as I was about to pull the trigger.
Wasn't going to wait for SB cashback in case it went OOS lol.

    • Showing stock for me check again

      • They are playing the fomo game again

      • I do keep refreshing; ebay and this page - in the hopes they add more stock.
Still seeing "This item is out of stock." on eBay and no buy button.

        • Try using eBay app shows in there for me

    • +1

They will likely restock like last couple of times during sales, just check back every so often.

      • +1

        there's some stock now

    • Back in stock - got one.
Can't report it, I already reported it as out of stock.

    • Did you manage?

  • Just got rid of after pay :(

  • Back in stock. Quantity > 10.

  • +1

    Thank you OP. Got 1.

Canā€™t be bothered to wait for the CB

  • +1

    Great deal, just got one

  • Does the ebay Dyson store give you the same 45-day money back guarantee like it does when purchasing from their website directly?

  • OOS again…

    • They will restock their counter either tonight or tomorrow, as done in past deals. They are Dyson warehouse after all.

    • Back in stock for me.

      Sorry I was wrong oos

  • This is an awesome price. Paid $1000 a few months ago. Excellent machine. Powerful, great battery, brilliant on hard floors (the green light will change your life). Dust bin is plenty for hard floors.

  • Would this be so substantially better than my $200 generic stick vacuum that it warrants the $700 upgrade? I live in a small apartment and I've been happy with my cheapy so far

    • I only bought it cos my $300 Xiaomi Dreame V9 gave up on life a week ago.

If it was still working, I wouldnā€™t be buying this one. I am interested in all the extra attachments tho.

Also got a robo-vac but it canā€™t do stairs, upholstery, corners or the car.

  • Did anyone manage to score the deal and the cashback?
I didn't wait for the cashback because I didn't want to risk it going OOS for the sake of a possible $20 cashback.

    • Good call. I missed out so got the Gen5 instead…

      • I would have got the cashback though if no-one posted to ozb lol. I selfishly didn't post it because I was waiting to purchase for later. And then I saw it on ozb and realised its going to get ozbargained so I bought.

Hope you like the gen5. Looks great.

        • Ditto, I should have waited to post at 7pm, after buying, LOL.Gen5 is above my budget but my 5 years old V10 stopped working this week (it pulsed 1-2 seconds then stopped, battery fully charged), so need a quick replacement.

          • @Buy2Much: Try removing the filter and see if it still pulses. My V8 did the same thing and it was just the filter getting blocked. There are cheap filters on Amazon.com.au for around 20 bucks.

            • @MrDanSmartMan: I did everything in the book. Washed the filter (the one at the top end), cleaned the filter in the bucket, checked for blockages, fully charged battery, even did a reset sequenceā€¦ but I have been subconsciously wishing for a reason to upgrade all year, self fulfilling wish šŸ˜‰

  • Common Dyson ship our vacuum! Missus is bored.
