Buffalo LinkStation Pro Duo NAS $98.00

160

About $30 cheaper than anywhere else. ~$10 delivery. Here's a basic review http://www.centrecom.com.au/game/buffalo-linkstation-pro-duo… and the Buffalo NAS product matrix http://www.buffalotech.com/products/network-storage.

How does this compare to the D-Link DNS-320L ~$120 (not to be confused with non "L" version)? http://www.scorptec.com.au/computer/47140-dns-320l.

  • personally, I'd got for a QNAP, but they cost more than twice that…

      Over $200 I'd be considering a MicroServer http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/79129.

For over $200 I'd want a monkey butler.

      • The only catch on the MicroServer is it cannot do Raid-5.

        • Yes it can .. unless you are saying that it cannot do hardware RAID-5, but that doesn't matter. In fact, I am running RAID-6 on my Microserver N36L, and I get transfer speeds of 80-90 Megabytes/sec. This blows most NAS's at the price range out of the water.

        • But Monkey Butlers can only do RAID 0/1

        apples and oranges… it's not a NAS

        • how is this not a nas??

        • I guess the benefit of the MicroServer is that it can also be a NAS (with the right software e.g. FreeNAS), just as any server can. But it's the form factor, disk caddies, and power savings that make it comparable to a dedicated NAS.

I own both, recently uppgraded to the qnap. They both have pro's & cons, its a great price for a starter nas

        what are the cons?

  • Will Nootec N5 come with the same function? It is cheaper.

  • "CRIES" - I paid $198 when I first got this.

    Great bit of kit

    • Out of interest, what kind of speeds do you get?

      • Talk to it via 802.11n and too lazy to plug it in via ethernet

  • My Dlink 623 has been sitting dead for a month, so will give this ago. Cheers op

  • What hard drives are best for a NAS unit?
If I get this, I want to know what to put in it!

  • Thanks OP… I decided to grab one… though postage was $15 to Perth FYI.

  • Price is back up to $118.
