Opinion may vary, got mine 4 years ago, real happy. Still going strong. Created a vid sometime ago for those who interested: https://youtu.be/AWmnkt41LTE

    • do they make wireless probe versions that are still wifi? probably just asking for trouble with temp accuracy though.

      • Not sure, I'm not affiliated. I think they have a web presence. Feel free to look around. I have this one, happy to answer questions if you have any.

Great video! Thankyou, answered my questions.

      • Thank you, much appreciated.

  • Seen some mixed opinions on the accuracy of the 'XS' version bunnings sell - granted it's cheaper than the retail price for this one, but makes me a bit nervous to pull the trigger - anyone who owns one of these found the temperature to be inaccurate, particularly across probes?

No one ever claimed this to be a precision instrument. I can see mine most with most difference of 1C among probes when left in ambient temperature. Not enough obviously to bother me…

Thank you @Kapitoshka, within 2-3 degrees I'd deem acceptable, particularly at this price - I'd seen some screenshots of the aforementioned model with probes reading 20 degrees different, which would make the unit useless if that was the case!

        • +2

No worries at all. If I'd get mine and there would be 20C difference I'd return it as faulty. As for what you'll get if you buy one I think there are no guarantees. I'd say up to 3 -4C discrepancy would be "acceptable".

        • +1

Yes that happened to me, 20c out but that's only because I was lazy and put the probes in the dishwasher because I was too lazy to hand wash, they specifically say don't submerge so that's on me, replacement probes were cheap enough to replace of ebay and it was back to normal function again.

2-3c out but there is an option to calibrate through the app, it's pretty easy to set up, just make sure you have your 2.5 wifi turned on. Recently mine stopped charging but I've had it about 4 years and it's been on long 8h cools out in the rain overnight, no problems. I'm happy to replace it for this price.

    • amazon listing (and presumably manufacturer specs) claim +/- 1degC accuracy.

You could buy and test all 4 simultaneously and return if not satisfied.

    • I've tested mine at a couple of temperatures up to 60c against my Anova Sous Vide setup, and all four probes agree with the Anova.

      That's good enough for me.

  • Does this work for human temperature?

    • +5

It is a thermometer, it measures temperature. Where you stick it and how you use it is up to you :-)

    • +2

Ive never cooked human before so not sure what the ideal internal temperature would be

      • I was more thinking of detecting Covid 19 symptoms of my relatives

        • i think you will no longer be seeing your relatives if you need to use this on them. Either way, it solves that problem.

        • I've got the Infrared Thermometer from Inkbird last time it was on sale for about $20, that one would be better suited, option to turn off the LED laser if you're pointing at someone's head

The Withings non contact thermometer is the best out of the ones I've tried for human temp. The probes on this Inkbird are a bit sharp for rectal readings.

  • Have this too, it's very good. Use it at least twice a month. App is great and responsive. Solid battery too. It lasts at least 2 long long smokes (10 hours +).
