Pinnacle 1830x 1820x 540mm 4-Tier Heavy Duty Shelving Unit $143.20 (Was $296) @ Bunnings (Selected Stores)

650

There are about 15 of these on the floor at Rockdale Bunnings. This may be store specific as another Bunnings scanned at full price.

Stockchecker says there are 48 at the store. I didn't check the main aisles.

UPDATE: Apparently there are two different essentially identical products (except for the GTIN, of course).

  • Anyone found them in Vic at that price?

    • +1

@Stanvx: You could try looking up the Stock Checker for stores nearby that have lots of stock and ringing them to see if they're on clearance.

      • +2

Anyone had any luck in Vic?

        • +1

Nothing @ springvale or ferntree gully.

          • @vash12: Cheers. You should have swung by vermont in your drive, and maybe even bayswater! I've had some luck at the Vermont store and it's not that hard to get to from Springvale road 😀

            • @King Steuart: Where were the shelves? Were they right at the front? And how many left?

              • @vash12: Oh, nah I'm not saying they had stock sorry, just suggesting you could add those stores to your hunt next time!

          • @vash12: I bought a few at springvale on Friday. They had about 20 in stock. Scoresby and moorabbin had stock too. Sold out at Notting Hill.

            • @gummibears: Were they at the front? I couldn’t see any when I was there.

    • Bunnings in Hastings has the same price

  • +4

The IN for this is 0434458 and this price seems to be available at most places.

    • The online price is still $296 - even at rockdale ..?

      • +3

There are 2 different products being confused here even though they are the same.

The product in the picture for $143.20 is 0434458
The product on the website for $296 is 2582967

So yes the online price for $296 is correct for 2582967.

        • Is this just for NSW?

          • @Hello22: Seems it’s available in multiple states but looks like 50% of stores have it.

        • Would you mind putting up the link for I/N 0434458 - Showing $296.10 for me on Bunnings site & Stockchecker

          • +1

@D Money: There are no links for 0434458 either on the Bunnings site or the Stocker Checker (which uses the Bunnings site API). I've updated the deal with all available info.

          • @D Money: It’s likely you can view it if you have a powerpass acc on the app but there’s no online presence.

            • @Applause: Nope. I checked both the PowerPass app and the normal one. 0434458 doesn't come up in either.

Unsurprisingly, it looks like the apps use the same API as the website. The team member devices use a different system which gives you greater access.

        • +1

Why the different I/N if the same product?

  • Great price. Previous deal was 178 each I bought 3 then.

    • How do you find the mesh base over a flat base?

      • +1

Depends what you are storing. Mesh is annoying for little things such as spray bottles, cans etc. but you can just put a thin mdf over it for that shelf. But they are way stronger as you would expect so great for heavy stuff, especially dense heavy stuff.

      • +3

Even cheaper is to line the mesh base with large pieces of cardboard from appliance items etc.

The thing I noticed with mesh bases is that when dragging heavy items or even boxes along them, they can catch into the holes. Or uneven surface items catching into the holes.

Smooth bases makes it a lot easier to store items on top of it.

      • +2

I've used https://www.bunnings.com.au/bgc-durasheet-1800-x-1200-x-4-5m… cut into strips over the mesh. Works really well.

  • May require help to carry

    Total Weight 45kg

  • +2

Check that these have solid verticle supports. I recently put together a smaller unit, and they had split the vertical members in 2 to make packing easier. They hold together with a small pin.
    Very janky

    • +1

      These are one piece verts

  • If it's that same product then Bunnings should beat it by 10%. As if.

  • Surprised large shelving units like this doesn't use braces to keep things square.

    • I've got 3 of these units. Very sturdy/square once all members put in. Each width/depth support bar (16 total) has two linking points at each end so they each provide square-ness reinforcement. No concerns about these warping if assembled properly.

      • I just went and got the last two at the local Bunnings, I just popped them in the garage to work on later. What tools will I need?

        • +2

If you're pedantic maybe a rubber mallet to make sure the beams are securely slotted into the uprights but we regularly put together displays of these with no tools. Having a second person will make it a lot quicker though.

        • +1

Rubber mallet, also a block of scrap wood is good to use so you can hammer onto that (the rubber mallet can still dent the support pieces if you hit them too hard)

  • "Apparently there are two different essentially identical products"

Are they identical? Or there a small difference between them?

    • @bigbaddbaz: That was my edit to add the info from @Applause's comment. Applause will have to weigh in to answer your query. (Or someone else whose local store has both products available.)

  • +4

Great price and great item for storage, if a nearby Bunnings is your only option. I’ve got some of these, and Pinnacle’s 5 tier MDF shelf versions as well - and at this price they’re very good.

But if you’re able to get to one of their pickup points, these metal racking shelves are even better - https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/272096565984

2m x 2m x 600m deep for $170 pickup, before any Ebay discounted gift cards or voucher codes which come up regularly ($20 off $150 spend plus codes or up to 15% off codes bring this to a price nearing and often bettering this Pinnacle pricing, plus they participate in Afterpay promos for some great discount codes). Bigger and multiple shelving units are even more cost effective. The extra depth is so much more handy than you’d think and they are rock solid with flush full metal shelves to eliminate items catching in mesh shelves or mould growing on mdf versions. Highly recommended if you want to go the extra mile…

    • +1

Thanks for remind that at this price point, full metal shelves are a purchasing possibility. I see a lot of new large full sized metal shelves being sold on FB marketplace too.

    • How can we find the local pickup location in Sydney?

      • +1

Google maps for SkyTeck locations pulls up these:

        Melbourne

        Sydney

        • Thanks @Alzori.

For anyone else looking, it's listed on their Ebay page, as are other sellers who sell this gear, who you can find by searching various combo's of garage + shelving + rack + metal. Three or four of them have pick up locations across the Eastern capital cities.

And if previous years are anything to go by, most participate in the 15% off Afterpay promo coming up on 17th August as per www.ozbargain.com.au/node/793619. If it works the same as last year, as long as you pay at least a dollar by Afterpay, you can pay the majority via giftcards which you can purchase with 3% rebate from Shopback and other giftcard sellers.

    • Important to note the SkyTeck shelves are 200kg per shelf/level. Pinnacle are 625kg per shelf/level. Huge difference, depending on what you're storing.

  • 625kg weight rating PER shelf.
Much higher than similar models you can find at this price point.

Recommended (have one of the 2-meter version)

    • +1

Honest question - what are you loading of such high density?

Putting stuff up and taking out would be such a pain, i cannot fathom loading the shelves up so much.

      • +1

For me it’s not about thinking of potentially overloading the shelf. :)

      • +2

Tins of paint a pretty heavy

        • +1

I’ve loaded spare tiles at bottom shelf. Easy to overload with stuff across a 1800-2000 shelf so I’d rather not risk it.

  • will i fit this in the back of my elantra? seats fold flat

    • +1

      Yes, easily.

There's heaps of stock in the promo section Newstead QLD - immediately on your left as you come in. I can't for the life of me work out the difference between the two items in this deal though - they seemingly have identical specs.

      • Same, couldn't figure out the difference, but I did notice the model numbers, and heavy duty series label are different

0434458 ($143.20) Model No: GOS502 - Not labelled Heavy Duty Series
2582967 ($296.10) Model No: GOS005 - Box has Heavy Duty Series Label on it

There is also a GOS501 Workbench on sale that is not listed on Pinnacle website, could be that the GOS5xx stuff are older batches?

        • Luckily the OP's pic says Heavy Duty with the $143 price.

          • +1

@ihbh: Oh, the bunnings orange label at Bankstown Airport doesn't mention heavy duty.

I was refering to the icon label on the box itself https://imgur.com/a/d50X7xs

They both have same weight rating 625kg per shelf so prob doesn't matter?

  • I just did a search online but it seem the code above is not working only the original price. Does this still work would love to get some storage for my work

    • I think its in store only and you can't find it online. I had to go into a local bunnings yesterday to confirm they had it in stock and for that price. You could maybe try calling them before hand and give them that I/N number (0434458) to confirm they have it available and for that price?

  • +1

Thanks OP, appreciate the post. Got 3 from Chatswood - had 34 in stock in the morning, less than 20 as at noon. Upstairs, aisle 66.

We cleared the garage a couple of months ago and were waiting for a good value shelving system. This came at the perfect time.

    • Great, glad that you benefited from the post! I wasn't sure how wide spread it was but glad to hear that some other stores have that price!

  • Picked up some in QLD

  • Cna this be carried by one person to the car?

    • +2

With the judicious assistance of their industrial trolleys, yep.

    • It's a bit of a bastard but it's very doable. I got it all the way from the shelf to my living room on my own.

  • Checked with my local bunnings and was sold out. Only the product with codes 0434458 9351378100481 is on sale, even though the products are the same.
So might as well remove the other one from this listing, even if it is on stock, its full price.

  • +1

lf you call your local bunnings and ask for a stock check on 0434458, they will be able to see stock count on the sale item.

  • -1

I went to Bonnyrigg today and they had plenty of the cheaper model. I did a comparison on the 2 boxes. The cheaper one has no 2 support beams under the mesh. Only the top shelf does. Also the beams on the shelves seem totally different to the twice as expensive one. The mesh just sits onto of the beams. So if you put all the load in the middle of the mesh, i feel it wont support as much weight compared to the more expensive counterpart.

Look at the first photo here (https://www.bunnings.com.au/pinnacle-1830-x-1820-x-540mm-4-t…)

Between each shelf, it had 2 supporting beams. The cheaper one doesnt.

    • The one I bought and built 0434458 ($143.20) Model No: GOS502 has 2 support beams in the middle for all 4 tiers.

      • Do you have any photos of your built one please.

I checked the photo of the box of 0434458 and you're right the photo of the shelf on the box only show top shelf has support beams, luckily the photo doesn't match the actual product in this case haha.

  • Put mine together and into the shed yesterday - extremely happy with this purchase!

    • +1

Happy enough for an upvote for the OP?

      • +1

And one for you for your troubles.

        • A gentleman and a scholar!

Glad yours worked out well. Genuinely surprised the deal didn't get more votes. They're fantastic units for the price. Cheers…

  • Heaps of stock (15+) at Knoxfield VIC when I went on Sun 20/08.

  • Picked up a pair of these from the Gladstone, QLD store today - bargain! There was still 10 or so there, up near the trade desk.

Had to get a staff member to look up the IN above & point me in the right direction. These had no price tags either - but scanned @ $143 each

    Thanks OP!

  • just bought 2 the $143 ones and $296 ones are together. packages are almost the same the staff found heavy duty sigh on the $296 one but not on the $143 ones

  • Do we need to have a rubber mallet to knock it in or can something else be used or can you just use your hands and push it in?

    • +1

A $5 rubber mallet makes it much, much easier, but anything solid (preferably other than your hand) will suffice in a pinch. Whilst fitting the shelves is what brings them into square and only requires a gentle tap - the main usage is to get the supporting metal rails in place first. They can take a fair wack to get them slid into place in the tighter mounting holes, and is not a task you want be doing with your hand since they're essentially made of thin folded metal which will generally defeat skin in any game of rock, paper, scissors.

If you can't lay your hands on a mallet, anything heavy like a hammer, wood chock or tin of paint should work…

      • +1

        Thanks!

  • Just got one from Fyshwick ACT, there was one left. Thanks OP!

  • I'm seriously on the lookout for when these go on sale again..
