I heard Penrith is better
Penrith is better
Yes this
Of course!
But even better value than this deal is the GW syn-x 3000 for $18 from autobarn!
yeah great deal
Darn! That is an insane price! But there is no autobahn in my area.
Despite the website saying "in stock", the shelf was bare at the store I visited (Edwardstown). Sold out on the website also.
Full Synthetic
A full synthetic oil should be replaced at 6,000Km while a full mineral of mixed one can be replaced at 10,000Km or even more depending on brand and quality.
Other way around…full syn has a much longer usefull life…
Yes, but i wanted a 10W40 to reduce blow-by in my non-DPF Pajero. I run GW 5w30 this in my EURO5 spec X5 with a DPF (that requires low SAPS).
A friend told me this contains Klingon molecules to protect your engine.
sounds like star trek movie, can change my car to Klingon ship?
can change my car to Klingon ship?
Only if your car does not already have a cloaking device.
Be mindful this is only semi-synthetic.
semi-synthetic.
One thing that I hate about Castrol is that often they don't tell what kind of oil is inside a bottle.
But what is the concern about a semi synthetic oil?Castrol is that often they don't tell what kind of oil is inside a bottle.
That's because oils ain't oils..
I was referring to synthetic or mineral oil, Castrol just don't tell it.
Regarding the GTX2 at the time (back in the 70s and 80s) it was regarded as the best engine oil or at least one of the best.it was regarded as the best engine oil or at least one of the best.
If you were a gangster…
I mean it's just preference. Some new cars will want full synthetic, I'm sure some a bit older can take either.
Just being mindful that for $30 you're only getting semi-synthetic, meaning it's not quite as good a deal as if it was full.
Some new cars will want full synthetic
Always read the recommendations and follow the specifications from the car's user manual.
My motorcycle's manufacturer recommend a semi synthetic oil, I could use (at my discretion) a full synthetic one as long as I follow the recommended specifications but (as described below) I would be required to change it at 6,000Kms instead of the recommended 10,000Kms scheduled service.
A full synthetic oil needs to be replaced at 6,000Kms while a semi synthetic or mineral one at 10,000Kms.@billadm: There must be a reason behind your thinking that is completely opposite to what ALL the oil manufacturers say….can you enlighten us with your reasoning?
@billadm: This is trash information. Full synthetic does not have a shorter oil change interval than semi synth or mineral.
If you understand what each quality of oil is you'd understand that what you're saying doesn't make sense.
It's normally cheaper than this when it's on special. Wonder why the jump??
yeah, ive noticed that all oils are going up in price recently. I was a GW Syn boy for a long time. But now even they are going up.
All the billions of extra dollars created to bail out the banks during the scamdemic has watered down the currency.
For $5 more, would Gulf Western Full Synthetic 5w-30 be a better option? (providing both grades suit one's car)
