If you have access to the Samsung EDU/EPP Stores, the 512GB Pro Plus is cheaper - <$36 Delivered (Depending on the Portal).

    • Went to EPP portal but found its at origin price now :(

Make sure to check the correct listings as there's 2 different model number for the 512GB Pro Plus:

        • MB-MD512KA/APC
        • MB-MD512SA/APC <—- You want this one.
        • Ahhh, you are right, I looked at the wrong model - but OOS now lol
          Thanks anyway mate

@JazLo: Check back regularly, they have been in and out of stock for the past few weeks.

            • @RichardL: Thanks so much. I swt up a stock alert and never got anything. When I checked just today it was back in stock and I bought one. Gonna store all of my uni work on it (seperate from my portable HDD). It just fits everything

          • @JazLo: In stock right now (9am 11th August).

        • Can you please clarify why we should prefer the SA over KA?

I’m looking at the Pro Endurance for use in an Arlo security cam base station. It is KA

            @ZJack:

Can you please clarify why we should prefer the SA over KA?

Cause it's $36, whereas the KA is still full price.

  • Might be a silly question but anyone use these to store things as backup? Like instead of using a hard drive?

Or would this be considered less reliable?

    • +7

Certainly less reliable in the sense that I keep losing the damn things all the time, because they are so small.

    • +3

NVME can be similar priced, and faster. With a cheap USB enclosure, it's much much faster.

    • Back up hard drives are better slower but don't die

    • +1

Would not recommend this. If you "accidentally" eject the SD card without doing the whole right click eject hardware or tablet equivalent, the device may mark it corrupt and you have to format the drive.

I haven't found a way around this unless anyone can tell me

    • +2

Less reliable. These are built to a size not a quality - though I will say that these have been more reliable for me than Lexar (going way back) and Sandisk.

    • All solid state storage lose their charge over time so they need to be rewritten every now and then so remember to read and rewrite them yearly and not sit there waiting for Dementia to happen.

  • Got one for action camera (4k @ 30fps), not sure if it was a mistake. Some reviews says it works fine

  • Are these good for GoPro? Thank you

  • +5

    Yes, certified by OceanGate

  • Would this be good for Sony ZV-1(I think it can shoot at max 4k @ 30fps?) Im planning for a trip to Japan, dont think I gonna shot alot in 4k, probably mostly 1080p.

    • +2

These will handle 4k fine in the ZV-1. It only needs V30 cards for video so there is zero point in buying anything more expensive than this.

      • Thanks, just what I need. Good discount so may as well get 2 512gb so I dont need to bring my laptop to empty the card.

  • Price match at officeworks?

  • +1

    Thanks @shxhshzhz

Bought two, because I keep losing the damn things and occasionally need new ones for Pi-type computers.

  • Can anyone advise if can record 4K 60fps onto these cards?

    • +2

You need to specify your device otherwise there's not enough information to provide an answer.

      • Oh sorry, galaxy S10.. But I noticed after it said V10 on the card so most likely not..

        • +1

It's enough, galaxy S10 records 4k60 at 75mbps = 9.4MB/s. V10 card means guaranteed minimum write speed of 10MB/s, and you usually get way more than this.

    • Go for the U3 if you can, 128gb and up, more future proof.

Thinking about picking up a Switch OLED (never owned a Switch) which capacity should be sufficient in your experience? Probs buy/play 5 games or so to begin with.

    • If your playing only about 5 games, I'd say 128gb or even 64gb is enough. Your first mistake though is buying a Switch OLED. Buy an unpatched V1 switch and a 512gb card and it will come out even cheaper. Then you can install a hundred games…for freeeeeeeee.

    • +4

Are you planning on purchasing physical or digital game?

If you're going physical, then you don't need that much storage (only for updates, DLC, etc).

If you're going digital, then the higher the better (would be dependent on the amount of games you plan to purchase).

    • +1

I currently have a 256GB in my Switch OLED and I have a bunch of games I bought off the eshop on there.

Still got plenty of space leftover and having the extra space doesn't hurt if some new games come out that entice you.

Any idea if these are better than other brands like Patriot that sell 5 packs?

    https://www.amazon.com.au/Patriot-Android-Phones-Tablets-Rec…

    Regular price for 5pack:
    64gb $31.25 ($6.25 per unit)
    128gb $46.95 ($9.39 per unit)
    256gb $72.50 ($14.5 per unit)

    • +1

Probably pretty similar, but keep in mind that Samsung is one of the largest nand makers in the world. Patriot buys from whatever manufacturer (possibly Samsung, possibly someone else).

I'd be fine with either, but I don't want or need five identically sized cards at once.

    • -1

Yeah I'm the same but I'm filming on an o/s trip and will pay for peace of mind (even if only perceived) for better brand.

      • Then you have five cards to rotate between, the chance of any one failing is minuscule, and if you're serious about filming you're taking backups to centralised storage once a day (there are actual physical products for this if a laptop is too big to carry around).

All of my microSD cards are Samsung, SanDisk, or Lexar, but I wouldn't hesitate to use Patriot. They are a very well known RAM company with a gaming emphasis.

    • thanks ended up getting these instead

  • Aaaagh, bought some at the higher price yesterday and the limit of 3 stops me buying any at this price. :-(

  • I purchased a 128GB EVOPlus card at Officeworks for use in my Samsung tablet to replace my 30GB SD card. I can now load all my movable apps on to the new card, this giving me heaps more space for data and new apps. Price match with Bing Lee brought the price to $14.25.

  • Any one used these as SD cards for CCTV cams ?

  • Prices have increased:
    64GB is OOS
    128GB $18
    256GB $27
    512GB $52

    • 64GB back in stock, now $9.50
