$9.95 operated at an extremely tight margin. There's a reason they always tried to upsell you the sides!
The 2 x large sides for $5.95 was fairly decent too, I got Chips+Coleslaw as lunch a couple times.

@Chopel: I don't remember it ever being $15 either… Maybe $18.95 but you had to cut out voucher from the physical kfc 'junk' mail from letter box - I remember someone uploaded it on ozb and I printed out about 20 on a single A4 to cut out and use.
Inflation is getting really annoying now. The worst part is that prices will likely stay this way going forward.

Confirmed. Opened the deal and saw the $8 boxes come up.
Chose an ACT store and it disappeared to be replaced with the 8 piece hot and crispy $10 bucket (which is ACT only)
Most worth it would be the 8 tenders.
Apparently the least worth are the tenders and the most worth are the 5pc original.

Don't think I've ever seen someone use energy contents as a measure of value before. By this logic, you'd be better off getting some steamed rice or a loaf of bread from somewhere wouldn't you.
Depends on how similar or different you consider the two to be. The kJ of the same substance would just be a measure of quantity.
I wonder how they estimate the kJ of the original recipe pieces though? They must differ considerably between piece types. It’d also vary depending on whether or not you were to grind the bones to make your bread.

Nope, piece selection is free, surcharges only apply if you want fillet or tender.

Is hot and spicy back? I don’t see the stores do them anymore.
Hot and crispy is in my store, which looks like hot and spicy rebranded.
Hot & Crispy is very different to Hot & Spicy.
It isn't all that spicy, is boneless, and size range is between nugget and a wicked wing.
@CodeXD: Hot & Spicy isn’t hot or spicy either when they’ve brought it back or at stores that have it permanently (in Sydney anyway). This is compared to back in the early 2000s.
My local store and many stores do Hot and Crispy too, but it’s not Hot and Spicy. Not the same.

The $8 for 5 pieces of chicken looks good, but man has the quality gone downhill or what. Original flavour taste almost the same as Woolies chicken the drumstick is now the size of a chicken wing
Some outlets are better than others, as is the staff member preparing it.

The only one i try to eat at, always fresh due to the turnover and have hot n spicy permanently.
Chicken quality has gone downhill in general. I noticed chicken meat become tougher, less succulent and blander since last year or so. I’m not sure if it’s due to increasing costs so the poultry farmers also cut cost to raise the chickens.
The chicken meat itself was ok, but the batter or whatever you call it was terrible.
Almost 50/50 the Zinger meat would be a tough ass chicken
Wicked wings taste blander, less flavour. Potato and Gravy is also less rich , instead is more salty for some reason, unpleasant.
I think KFC use potato powder as their ‘mash’ potatoes. I just had their potato and gravy a few days ago and the potato-gravy mix tasted awful, kinda had a sour flavour.
@FrugalNotStingy: I couldn't put my finger on the flavour but you might be right, it was kinda sour/salty. Man how awful!

All sides can be "swapped" to their equivalent, both within the app and at the store, the most common swap for value is potato gravy swapped for a small chips. 2 small chips = 1 large chips.
@Jofzar: wish you could swap the drink to like 2 wicked wings or something, got drinks already at home.
@Frozensage: Back in the pre-app days, I used to swap out the drink for another chips or something. Not sure if you can do that these days. As you say - I've got drinks at home.
@Frozensage: So the large drinks you can swap (the 1.2L) for a large equiqevalent side, (IE large chips, large coleslaw, 4 dinner roles etc) but I have never found that worth it.

Seems everywhere north of Port Macquarie on the coast of NSW has a $14.95 9 piece original feast instead. It says only in the Northern Rivers. Not sure how Kempsey or Coffs Harbour are classed as the northern rivers.
Got this too, was about to say this is in addition not "instead", but yeah this $8 deal disappeared after setting location.
