    The website displays $154

    • Hi, with the code, the price will drop down to $ 139.39

      • Can you share the code please

  • Does the code work for the PoE version?

  • +3

PoE version for $136 at Amazon
    https://amzn.asia/d/fOE8eHg

  • Generally happy with this one. Lots of false alarms when raining or nighttime when cars passing. Needs some tweaking in the app settings to get that sorted.

    • +1

probably need to setup trigger area accordingly and set notification to persons only.

  • I am looking to replace a Gen1 Ring Doorbell on my front gate which is battery powered.

Are there any ways to power one of these other than POE/hardwiring?

    • There is not. Unless you have the ability to run wiring (PoE or otherwise), this isn't a good replacement for a battery camera. I was able to reuse wiring from a previous video intercom, but it wouldn't have been possible without.

    • Not officially. It requires either 12-24v DC to the contacts on the back, or 48v PoE if you prefer.

There's no reason why you couldn't come up with some kind of solar+battery arrangement if you're keen.

    • you can power it with DC as someone has mentioned. If there are electrical wires/lights switches nearby, an electrician might able to run the power for this.

  • Heya any deals on the cx410 or info on when the cx410 and the turret version is being released in Australia?

  • does anyone know if this displays on google nest hub screen automatically if anyone rings the bell?

    • Afraid not.

    • +1

Pretty sure that feature is exclusive to Nest doorbell.

You can display the camera output on a Nest hub via voice commands - just need to link the Reolink account to Google Home. But not on button push.

There are ways to make it happen through Home Assistant but that's a major jump in complexity.

Does this require a paid subscription like Ring ?

    • It is fully functional without a paid subscription.

You can choose to pay for cloud storage if you like. You can alternatively use a local FTP server or NVR to store data, or supply an SD card.

  • those who have used before, does it have much of a delay with the motion trigger/sensor and the recording start (via NVR). I realise the local SD storage would not have this issue, but then i'm not a fan 'on device' storage for security….
if so, i'll prob just go the PoE unit - as part of my larger Reolink plan…

    • +1

      There is no noticeable delay.

    • Works great on mine. Had to update the firmware on the NVR for it to work well.

  • People should know, unlike every other doorbell cam out there this does not automatically open to video on your phone when someone presses the doorbell.

You will get a notification - unlock phone - open app - swipe to the doorbell camera……and the person has left.

There are rumours this will be added in a firmware update but no actual confirmation of it.

    • +2

Some artistic licence and exaggeration here… I just checked.

Admittedly I had my (locked) phone in my hand and was ready for the notification, but even so…from the moment that the button was pressed, until I had a live feed on my screen, was about 6 seconds.

Notification arrives, select notification on lock screen, unlock phone, brief splash screen, then live feed loads and stream begins. 10 seconds max if you're clumsy.

    • +3

Clicking on notification takes straight to live feed (after phone unlock of course).

    • Would be an improvement if it does.

Currently i have mine set on auto reply function which is handy for parcel.

  • I got one today cheaper on AliExpress with a coupon that was offered in the cart. $123.99 PoE model shipped from Sydney.

    • +2

      Sounds good. Link please?

      • Tried to share the links and a $15 code but was unpunished, sorry but I am not typing it again on my phone

That is PoE. This deal is for wifi variant…

  • I am looking for 6 cam system - 8 Channel PoE,

    Came across:

    RLK8-842D4-A - 4K Vandal-Proof PoE Security Camera System with 5X Optical Zoom and two extra RLC-842A cams. : $1295
    https://reolink.com/au/product/rlk8-842d4-a/?attribute_pa_ve…

    Hikvision Hilook 6 x 6MP Turret Kit with 8CH NVR : $1199
    https://www.starsparky.com.au/products/hikvision-hilook-6-x-…

Which one do you recommend? or any alternative under this price range?

    • You arent comparing same/equivalent specs… Reolink ones you have in mind are anti vandal, with zoom and 8MP cameras. Hikvision ones have none of those.

      • Agreed - not a fair comparison.

This bundle https://reolink.com/au/product/rlk8-800d4/ is a bit closer - this one uses Reolink's 820A turret cameras which are a closer comparison to the Hikvision ones, albeit 8MP. Add in 2 x extra 820A cameras for a total price of $1073, so about $130 cheaper than the Hikvision bundle for the same 2TB NVR storage.

The Reolink package is also capable of AI person/vehicle detection alerts, and includes 4 x ethernet cables for a little extra savings.

TLDR: It's pretty hard to beat Reolink in terms of performance/dollar.

        • Thanks guys, so I will go with https://reolink.com/au/product/rlk8-800d4/ and purchase 2 extra 820A. Is this also 8MP?
How would you rate its clarity in day/night compared with the above Hikvision model?

          • @bluespider: Don't have both cameras to compare clarity. Perhaps you can look for youtube videos if any?
Currently using 820A and it is pretty clear.
Dealing with reolink support was great (from my experience).
Hikvision is more for commercial grade - either one will be good for any home application.

          • @bluespider: Ummmm - I just dropped back in, and noticed the URL looked wrong. Seem's I've linked the wrong package.

The correct one (with 4 x 820A cameras) is actually this one: https://reolink.com/au/product/rlk8-820d4-a/

The other package uses the old, superseded D800 4k cameras, which are not as good.

            • @klaw81: @racingmiku @klaw81 thanks a lot guys.

              So a bundle (1-Pack RLN8-410, 4-Pack RLC-820A, and 4-Pack 18m Ethernet cables) + Two x RLC-820A for AU$878.39+ AU$259.19= AU$1137.58
Sounds good price this this config? Is there any additional discount code any idea?

Hikvision Hilook 6 x 6MP Turret Kit with 8CH NVR with 2TB NVR coming as $1199
              https://www.starsparky.com.au/products/hikvision-hilook-6-x-…

              • @bluespider: @bluespider I don't know of any current discount codes across the entire Reolink website, but you can often find one for an extra 5% off or so if you do a search.

However - if you don't mind buying refurbished, there's an amazing deal on eBay right now.

The same package, but with 8 x 820A turret cameras and a 3TB 16-channel NVR, is about $900 direct from Reolink with 1 year warranty after 15% off discount code (or 17% off if you have eBay+)

                • @klaw81: Thank you bro, appreciate your help.
I think I will stay with the brand new one.
On the side note, what issues can we expect from refurb package?

                  • @bluespider: I've bought a couple of refurbished cameras.

Apart from the reduced warranty (1 year instead of 2) I was absolutely unable to find any difference.

With electronics of this type, my assumption is that if it does not fail in the first 3 months (ie within the warranty period) it will be fine for its original design life.

I have very few reservations about buying refurbished products directly from the manufacturer

                    • @klaw81: Thanks @klaw81

Now, with this deal (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/793081) as Reolink RLC-833A is much better cam than RLC-820A, I am thinking to install two of these RLC-833A for front side and for remaining 4 cams (eg 2 sides and 2 back) if I go with a bundle RLK8-820D4-A will it work?

Second question, as I really don't need more expensive cam system for sides and back, so instead of a bundle RLK8-820D4-A, could you recommend me another cheaper bundle which can work well with RLC-833A ?

  • @bluespider

I am thinking to install two of these RLC-833A for front side and for remaining 4 cams (eg 2 sides and 2 back) if I go with a bundle RLK8-820D4-A will it work?

Yes, the 833A cameras are a decent step up in features and capability, and they will work fine in conjunction with the 4 x 820A's and the included NVR (model RLN8-410) in that bundle.

You would also still have 2 x channels available for future expansion - perhaps a video doorbell? :-)

could you recommend me another cheaper bundle which can work well with RLC-833A?

Assuming you want 4 x cameras for the sides and back, I would probably recommend the RLC-520A cameras, which have an identical feature set and the same turret format, but a 5MP sensor rather than 8MP.

You can get 4 x 520A cameras and the same NVR in a bundle here: https://reolink.com/au/product/rlk8-520d4/

Bought this and got hit with international transaction fee from bank.
    Assumed it was Australian stock.

    • Same with another camera, so damn annoying.

      • Have either of you tried querying this with Reolink? Whilst it's not unusual for global companies to process transactions outside Australia (even for Australian-based stock), ideally they should be disclosing it, e.g.

        https://www.accc.gov.au/media-release/consumers-urged-to-loo…

Businesses should clearly inform consumers when they are likely to be charged an international transaction fee, the ACCC says, and has issued guidance to retailers about how price information should be presented to consumers.

Following engagement with the ACCC, Nike Inc has recently changed its Australian online check out page so customers are alerted that they may be charged an international transaction fee.

A while back I got another company to refund me the cost of the fee when I showed them the details and mentioned the above - would be interesting to see Reolink's response.
