  It's not clear from the description whether this cable is "Silver" or "Space Grey". It appears to be Silver from the photo, but it would be nice to know before ordering.

    Space grey has a darker cable that contrasts more strongly with the USB-C end. This is SIlver.

  This is a power only solution correct?

  For example I currently have aUSBC cable from my monitor to my laptop and it charges and controls the screen.. this would not do that (and give me peace of mind of the cable not dragging the laptop if say a cat decided to chew on it)?

    That is correct. If you don't have a mac that uses the connector, this would not be worthwhile.
