Dont waste your money….. These headphones are good but hell no its not worth more than $80.
We Aussies are getting eaten by ripoff masters every day………
    No negs but just comments

    • I agree. I bought these from a previous deal and was really disappointed by the sound.

      • -1

You cannot judge the sound quality until you played a high quality uncompressed recording with foobar, through a high end headphone amp. You will hear certain tones that you otherwise would not have. I love mine :)

      • HD25s are DJ headphones with a fairly flat response. Most cheaper headphones out there over emphasise bass to cover for limited hardware and, if you're used to that, these ones might not appeal to you.

As Anon_ says, your source will also impact on your results as will your listening environment.

Having had a pair of HD25s for about 13 years, my only critique is their clamp can be a little too much over long use although this is by design to ensure they stay put when you're mixing records.

    • What music devices have you got and the music formats may I ask?
I paired mine with Cowon J3 and an amp, the sound quality was much better than my ATH-A500 (paid around $200 a few years ago) especially when playing those flac and ape formats music.

They are definitley worth more than $80, there is no doubt about that. You are right in saying that we get ripped off, but it is the consumers choice to pay the ridiculous prices that we are presented with.

I bought this exact pair from the sale from DJ Warehouse so I was lucky. I have had them for 6 months and love them to bits. As long as you play nothing less the 320kbps you will be able to experience what these headphones have to offer.

I have a PXC450, one of the best Sennheiser, which I brought when I was in US for less than half they sell here. Now you will understand why I gave the figure $80
The reason for my comment is for us to open our eyes wider and stop our smooth fantasy ride into debt by supporting the sellers, wholesalers here in AU .

        • +1

The PXC450's sound like crap through in active mode (using the amplifier on the headphones) and crap in passive mode when used with a bad source (such as an iPod/iPhone with a pitiful headphone amplifier).

This is because of the large drivers and relatively low sensitivity rating for these headphones. Plug them into the headphone output of an amplifier and hear the amazing difference, they sound a billion times better. I ended up selling mine after comparing them with a set of B&W P5's because the P5's sounded much better from an iPod(smaller drivers, higher sensitivity) which is what I use the headphones most for.

    • I personally love my HD25. Are you sure you weren't listening to the inferior 25 SP? I own a pair of Alessandro MS-1, AKG 530, and Beyerdynamic MMX2. The HD25 are by far my favourites (which I use a Fiio e17 with).

Audio technica ATH-M50 is the best studio headphones.

    • +4

      "is the best"

      are the best

      • +5

        Maybe it's mono?

    • Not really they are decent…… but not the best IMO

    • The HD25's beat the ATH-M50 in every review I have ever seen.
But bang for buck the ATH-M50 is way ahead.

      • For every person it will be different. Personally, the HD25 have excellent sound but can hurt the ears after 2 hours of wear.

    • Having own AKG K-701, Denon D2000, Yuin PK-1 and HD 25 Adidas.
I should have just trust my ears and get Klipsch Image One for my portable use.
HD25 is just too muddy in comparison to the rest of my headphones

i highly doubt that. you do realise that they have headphones in excess of $1000…

This is the mother of all headphone which I will own one day.

You will need a $5000 headphone amp to complement it :)

Sennheiser Orpheus was regarded by many as legendary but there are only 300 in the world ever being produced.

  • better off getting a pair of pioneer hdj 1500 … you can pick them up for around $80 less than these

  • +5

    $499 lol

  • +3

These are worth $80? Hahaha I almost choked on my dinner.

You must be kidding! These are the finest heaphones for monitoring (DJ, rock, dance type music) this side of $500….but the $150 deal was a certified bargain…

Bought one for 480 RMB during a trip in China.. It's less than AUD $80… It was amazing in good quality and value! So IMO this $200+ is a robbery.

    • +2

Should go well with your $40 GENUUINE ARPLE IPONE 4S right?

      • -1

Genuine, guaranteed (believe it or not). I have already been expecting this sort of reaction from the PUBLIC.

        • +1

I'm sure they are genuine. Just like the Rolex I got. And I only paid $20 for it, here they charge over a grand! Highway robbery I tell you.

These headphones are made in Ireland, and there is no way to get foreign made electronics that cheap. Most non Chinese brand I know price their products much higher than other markets, even higher than Australian rrp.

      • This is generally true … but the raw cost of the products is considerably low compared to the retail price. So it is more than possible when an online seller put it on promotion which seems crazy but they can still make a fortune from it.
