I think everyone's already bought these for $150, but a good price nevertheless.

  • +4

awwww, was hoping for some non-addidas ones D:

Decent price, has been $150 in the past.

Lost of discussion here about quality etc

    • +1

:'( (since I just bought from DSE)

      However…

After reading the replies from that thread, there are quite a few people who received scuffed (used/returned) pairs. Not to mention, the service is conflicting. One person was amazed while a few have been waiting a month to two months for it to arrive. Some hasn't even received it yet.

      • yea you might be right. If i remember correctly they did pick-up as well though.

      • +3

Yup, still have yet to receive mine and they continue to delay it. Ordered it early last month and they haven't got an official date as to when it will arrive/delivered. They don't notify you about delays either, I've had to call them several times just to figure out whats going on and they act like it's perfectly fine. I wouldn't recommend DJWarehouse. Ever.

        • +2

Agreed. Still waiting for mine. Continuos delays..with no set date. Poor communication from DJwarehouse.

  • Has anyone seen the non-Adidas ones for a similar price? Can be imported etc

Don't see why you'd want to though. If you buy it here, you get it faster and better warranty.

some people might not like the attention-drawing blue, and don't want to be a walking billboard…

part of the appeal of the original HD-25 for some people is the nondescript look.

i peronally would pay MORE to not have the adidas version.

and yeah, i purchased mine from chemical records. they were the cheapest place when i got mine (about 5 years ago).

        • +1

I agree, i was thinking about buying one of these, and scratching the 'addidas' of it.

Its only a tiny symbol, and might even come right off.

Then to deal with the blue…

        • As for the cable (someone mentioned it looked like I had a Cat5 network cable running from my ears), it's great that you can take the headphones apart as you can cover the blue cable with some 1/8" (1/8 inch) braided sleeving (and a bit of heatshrink for the ends):

The blue is frightening but these are incredibly good headphones. Given Sennheiser make replacement parts of every component of these, it would possible to simply order less garish versions of the offending parts.

  • My friend bought some from the older post. And they are AWESOME and blue. =D

  • One thing to be aware of is that there is a design fault that will cause the sound to drop out/sounds filtered. It seems happen with age and I've experienced it first hand on two pairs.

Good deal but these are nowhere near the best headphones under 400 or even 200.

    • +1

What's better for $200 that is so good that the hd25s are "nowhere" near as good?

      • -1

The only direct comparison I got to make with a similarly priced headphone is with the VSonic GR07 (primarily because I sold the HD25 afterwards). Detail is a bit better and while the overall tonality on both are fairly balanced, the HD25 tends to sound cramped and congested whereas the GR07 is open with better spatial imaging.

The GR07 costs about $160 and being an in ear monitor has much better isolation (the HD25 among the most isolating headphones, but not as good as even a moderately isolating IEM) and portability. If you're using it in a noisy environment where isolation translates directly into sound quality the difference becomes even greater and I'd choose even a $50 IEM over the Senns - which is a comparison I have made as well.

    • Stating opinion as fact is stupid. Fact.

      • -1

I hope the irony of that statement is not entirely lost on you. Where's the empirical data to support your "fact"?

Other than that, no shit? I countered the deal poster's opinion with my own, and it's pretty obvious that we're dealing with opinions since we're talking about subjective perceptions rather than sine waves and frequency charts.

Having said that, my opinion is mirrored by most who know the slightest about audio. Which you are free to look up on your own accord. Why the neg?

        • +1

Firstly, of course I see the irony. That's why I wrote it that way.

          Secondly, I didn't neg you.

Thirdly, you're correct - sound is a subjective perception. I think blanket statements such as some made within this thread (including by the op) may sway people to buy these when they don't know better. My advice is to listen to them if you can. Some people may love these, while others may not.

Fourthly, stating that your opinion is 'mirrored by most who know the slightest about audio' sounds arrogant. I'm just glad that I know more then the 'slightest' amount.

        • +4

Arrogant as it may sound, it is not a widely held belief that the HD25 are the best headphones for under $400 or even $200. I've listened to AD700, AD900, SRH840, DT770, DT880, HD600 which are all under $400 and with the exception of the AD700 which is probably on equal footing all were much better than the HD25. If you looked around on an audio forum I'm pretty sure you'd find the same sentiment. The HD25 are recommended for durability and portability, not pure sound quality.

At any rate people seem content to neg me for sharing my experiences despite seemingly having nothing to offer themselves. HD25 owners wishing to affirm their purchase I suppose. Feel free to neg away if it makes you feel better.

        • Fair enough. I didn't neg you. Sharing your experiences is what ozbargain is about. Sorry for the short reply above. I appreciate that you were adding to the discussion

  • Is this any good? Personally I don't like the design so much to be dropping even $200 on it.. but I have no idea on Sound quality which is just as important. Anyone? Say compared to another brand..

    • Yes, VERY good, it is lacking soundtage, and treble can be too hot for some people, but the sound is absolutely top class and extremely comfy

    • yeah as above.

it is an awesome headphone for portable/dj use, with its great isolation (for a portable headphone - yes, IEMs will isolate better) and rugged construction. and in the worst case that something does fail, everything is user replaceable.

in terms of sound, as above, it lacks soundstage and treble can be sibilant…but otherwise the sound is great, with great (but not monstrous) bass. overall, it is a relatively neutral headphone, and provides awesome sound quality for the size/portability.

i wouldn't say its the "best" headphone, but for portable/dj use, it's one of.

      highly recommended.

I am still waiting for my pair from DJWarehouse, 9 weeks and counting - ridiculous. Would buy these otherwise.

    • I am also. I was told on Thursday that they were expecting shipment that day in the next our or so, but heard nothing since. its awful service. I will give them until Tuesday or Wednesday, then I will cancel the order, as they just seem to be stringing everyone along. They should really compensate us for the massive wait IMO, perhaps offering free shipping on the headphones and refunding the $10 or something like that.

  • Purchased 29th
    Recieved 30th

Blazingly fast delivery! To be honest, I actually like the blue color and the sound is litterally mind blowing.
