Got mine from the last deal. Loving it so far!

    • Yep, have had mine for a few days now Its brilliant.

I paid $1300 for mine to get it a year before AU release as a grey import from the US and still love and think it's totally worth it at even that price.

      • +2

Still hasn't released officially in Australia, these are also all grey imports.

      • It just shows that if you wait a while after launch you can save hundreds of dollars. All Steam Decks any one ever gets into Australia are a grey import. There's no actual official Australian stock since it hasn't been released here.

At this price you could have nearly bought two Steam Decks for the price which you paid at launch.

        • It's moreso cause back when he purchased it, Valve was still on production back log, and there wasn't competition in the market for a rdna2 machine yet. So anything on the second hand market was scalpers.

        • Yes, but you can say the same with anything - for example my Pixel 7 Pro is now almost half the price I paid

        • Thats not any great revelation. I think you missed the part where i said i was still happy with the price since ive been able to enjoy it for over a year now.

If thats your thinking. Why buy anything.

64gb is virtually unusable, after cache and os expect to have 20gb left. I usually advise people to never buy the 64gb option, or buy it and then upgrade quickly. Even if you use an SD card, the cache goes to your main ssd, performance and other factors, and a myriad of other things make me firm in believing the 64gb should never have been sold.

These were made at a time where 2230 drives were expensive, and there were no options… but now they’re cheap. I would strongly suggest buying a 2tb Western Digital sn740 from aliexpress for $200 (or less on sale) and use that inside.

You’ll be set for life with that option.

    • I use a 1tb sn740 and a 512gb micro SD card.
Plenty for me and definitely a must if you plan on playing more than just smaller games.

Even if you use an SD card, the cache goes to your main ssd

    • I have a 2TB on order (from aliexpress lol) but the speed from a SD card is fine as well.

    • Even if you use an SD card, the cache goes to your main ssd,

You can also set up a symlink.

Been using a 64GB for over a year now and no real issues, never had difficulties with space with a 256GB SD card. Saying it's "virtually unusable" is completely false.

      • I ran out of space with a 1GB card already lol. Mass Effect and Halo collections are 100GB each for instance.

Says out of stock for me… anyone have any luck?

    • +1

It was out of stock over an hour ago and has been this price since late tuesday afternoon

  • Bloody hell I've been searching for this all night and saw this sold out this morning.

    • Same here man, same here

    • It's not the lowest price, so just wait for it to come back again

  • Finally decided to buy and it's oos

  • What games are you playing on it? I've got a gaming pc so want to know the use case

  • +2

For those need a cheap $49.99 512GB 2230 ssd to get the 64GB model usable:

    https://www.amazon.com.au/SYONCON-AP425-Internal-Compatible-…

I ordered yesterday, and it just arrived.

    • That is cheap, but IMO better off getting a cheap SD card and ordering a bigger SSD

      • Yup I bought this and immediately returned it for a WD 1TB after I realized the size of some of the games I'll be playing.

    • That link is $149

Spend another $100 and get a 2TB from aliexpress

It it was $49 that would be mad! That said, might be able to score a used broken laptop with a 512GB SSD of the right type if you are trying save cash.

      • it sold out it was $49 for 512gb, managed to get one at the time, now only showing 1tb option for $149

  • So does this run windows or some other OS ?
Assuming it doesn't support all games?

    • +1

It runs off Linux. Generally it can play most games but you may have to adjust some control settings or graphics quality.
Some games like Destiny 2 do not run because the developers couldn't get the anti-cheat working on steam deck.

  • Do these come with US to AU adapters?
