Do those certificates allow landing actual jobs?
Not really, but if you claim to be an "AWS Architect" the interviewer will ask why you don't have any certificates.
We've passed the hype cycle of cloud first. I see the trend of startups and enterprises moving back on-prem / colo.
Is there any affordable colo data centers in Australia?
Everything I saw so far was beyond my hobby budget.
Cloud providers like vultr etc are usually cheaper than colo for hobby budget nowadays. :(
We see the opposite too :) companies are also laying off small devops team and moving onprem to cloud.
and who's running their onprem?
@morediscount: oof.
lol! That’s such BS. Do you even work in the industry? If your startup model relies on-prem, you have zero chances of getting funded. No serious VC is going to give you any time of the day.
It might be true a few years ago. Now money is expensive and VCs looking into profitability and not just growth prospects.
More and more VCs involved in the running of the business and not just wanting the IP.
Also, AI is the new hype and serious AI startups mostly rely on Gpu to . It's prohibitively expensive to run these type of workloads in cloud.
Really? I haven't heard this was a thing in the enterprise space
Enterprise space is always lagging.
Most Enterprises that are already in the cloud would be at the cost optimization stage right now.
In the letter to shareholders Jassy mentioned that AWS growth is softening and AWS support & sales staff are spending much of their time helping customers optimise their AWS expenditure.
Going Saas and hosting with Azure is the more appropriate solution for most enterprises as most of them rely on Active Directory and MS ecosystem.
@Indomietable: Thanks for clarifing that. Cheers.
This is what hosting people like say to themselves every day.
This is what CIOs are looking at right now.
This article just come out a few hours ago: https://www.cio.com/article/648888/4-questions-cios-are-aski…
I would also add that if the organizations do not write their own software the benefit of speed to innovation and agility is greatly diminished.
it helps strengthen your cv
Does any "qualification" really land you a job? You can have the piece of paper, but can you actually do the job?
I don't have a "qualification" for my job, I have a qualification for something completely different to what I actually do. I land all my jobs based on experience.
no, learn Azure if you want a job
No certificate is a magic wand. They do give you credibility and somewhat enable you to actually learn the content and key concepts.
Certifications surely changed my life and wealth since 2010. I focussed on Salesforce.
But AWS has wider applications and therefore quite a good platform to build a career in.
Not really. There are many but it does demonstrate some level of understanding and ability to be able to learn.
Yes, 100%. I did my AWS associates back in the day and not long after AWS reached out and asked I apply for a role. I've been with AWS just over 5yrs now. The process is difficult so you have to know your stuff.
I believe this is only for the CCP exam based upon it being provided for a CCP training booth. Could be, and would accept, being proven wrong.
Yes working for ccp
Doesn't work for Developer - Associate either :(
Valid for SAP?
Edit: didn't work for SAP or SAA
