Recommend an ISP for Churning

just need to opt out of my current More internet deal for a month or so and then reapply for a commabnk discount in another name - can anyone recommend a free ISP could use for under a month?

  • Launtel charges per day.
    not free tho ;/

  • 2 choices I can think of off the top of my head:

    1) Use code TRYMATE with Mate Communicate for $1 for the first month.

Some people have said Mate oversubscribe their users on a lower amount of bandwidth, so peak speeds suffer more compared to other providers.

    2) $10 for the first month with Dodo.

People on here laugh a lot at Dodo, but I don't think they're the same company vs the pre-NBN days.

From my experience, my internet was churned at 12:57am on the day I scheduled it (yes, 1 hour after midnight) and the churn speed is quite good, the downtime is minimal in my experience. It seems like they've automated the whole process fairly well.

Main downside is that they offer discounts to people who have energy plans with them, so you'll probably notice their regular undiscounted prices are poor value.

    • $1 not too bad

    • Also worth noting that Dodo's offers are available to "New and returning internet customers only." So they allow previous customers to take advantage of offers again.

This is in contrast to other ISPs where they either don't allow double dipping for life or for a long time, like 6, 12 or 18 months.

Tel$tra would be a good one to churn from…

    Why?

  • +1

…. and then reapply for a commabnk discount in another name

    Are you an ASIO agent?

    Witness protection?

  • Exetel, Superloop or Tangerine.

Have used all 3 since leaving Telstra and no issues with any of them.

  • No need to change names on the bill to get a better deal with more, just buy more stuff through Commbank and I am sure they will give you cheap internet.
Its basically being used as a way to flog more homeloans and credit cards.
No smaller ISP can even compete with the more discounts.

  • That said the huge banks aren't exactly known for customer service so I'd never use an ISP owned by one.
That said they wouldn't have any issues with accessing funding which was my point on the Zoom Broadband threads.
Certainly not free but Leaptel have some pretty good deals for the home broadband side of things.
