Would be so good if they were around $40!

46 is already a crazy price considering RAM prices this time a couple years ago. If I were building even a budget system I would buy 32GB and not look back.

    • one less Mcds coffee on the way into work…

      $46 is around $40

  • I love how cheap memory is now.

So true, people are out of touch of the real value of ram. Why would you even get used when new is cheaper? Interesting times.

People are out of touch of the value of used hardware I'm general, it's amazing how quickly my computer's drop in real value.

Will take a while for the crypto/covid/low interest boom pricing debacle to wear off.
In particular, look at the distorted prices of second hand GPUs. I just sold a second hand GPU on ebay for a little more than I paid for it a short time ago!

        • +1

I'm still kicking myself for not selling my GPU's during the peak, they doubled in value.

The distorted perception of value in computers and components has served me well in the past, I've sold old PC's/Laptops for close to what I paid for them.

I'm not having as much luck with my old ThinkPad though.

  • Can I pickup 4 sticks to run 32gb?

    • Early gen Ryzen might not like it, but otherwise should be fine

  • Is this compatible with the HP/dell SFF and or Micro desktops?

    How does one tell?

    • +1

Micro desktops typically take laptop memory AKA "SODIMM".
Desktop memory is known as "DIMM".
I think SFF would take DIMM.

The specs of your machine should say DIMM or SODIMM :)

      EDIT:

E.g. I couldn't see it directly on the product web page, but the Dell OptiPlex Micro 7010 Manual says "SODIMM" on page 16.

Which I can confirm because I have one of these!

      • Thanks Peter. Looks like it fits, but the max speed on G4 is 2666.

  • What model hp/dell do you have ? we can google it for you so you can get a 2nd opinion , or 3..

Ive seen HP mini's use SODIMM (Laptop memory size) in the 800 G3.

  • Does ram have to be the same brand? I currently
have 2 x8gb ram and should all the brands be the same
