iiNet Finally Passing on nbn Fibre to The Premises Upgrade for Free

If like me you’ve been in an area where nbn co has been offering FTTP upgrades for free but you’re with iinet, who for some reason weren’t part of it, it finally arrived.

Just received the iinet “fibre fast” email to register interest. Called them up. Free upgrade coming in a fortnight.

I know there are others in the same boat so thought I’d post.

Most just changed ISP to one that offered the upgrade rather than hang around with iinet. But good for those hold outs!

Is it like the Aussie Broadband offer though?? Where you get the upgrade to FTTP but are required to go on a $20/month more expensive plan?

  • Superloop will do the upgrade and 1gbps connection for $99 per month.

  • My mate upgraded his internet and kayo still buffers at the most cruicial time worked well for him.

    • My mate upgraded his internet and it was fine

    • My mate didn't upgrade his internet.

      • waiting for a mate…

    • That is up to the ISPs network and the relationships they have with transit providers ETC.

  • Generally higher speeds have an asterisk.

  • Why TPG bother with so many sub brands is beyond me, particularly when they all have similar plans, they should scrap all the sub brands and just have one brand for retail and another for wholesale services.
As for the free Fibre upgrade the ISPs needed to be part of the contract with NBNCo to deliver those services and TPG and its other brands were not part of the first round.

    • cast the net wide with multiple fronts if you dont have a big name like telstra

  • Yeah but when all the offerings are exactly the same on all the sub brand sites it makes no sense what so ever, to be fair though it isn't just TPG that do this Superloop and a few other providers do this as well.
