Good morning everyone!!
I don't think this will interest a lot of people. But there are savings to be made. Google Domain has been sold to Squarespace although the prices will remain the same for a year, expect to go up after that.
So if someone it's after a domain this method via Turkey it's cheap comparing to the AU prices.
I can give few examples. For ScroogeMcdeal domain and specifically for Scroogemcdeal.dev Scroogemcdeal.au it's A$18 each in Australia.
In Turkey it's TL75 each (~A$4.19) see here and here
Keep in mind you will need an ABN to register .au domain
NOTE: Prices vary depending on domain name and domain ending.
Guide How to Obtain Deal
The steps are pretty simple.
Step one
Add a Google payment profile for Turkey if you don't have one yet. If needed, use a fake address generator to obtain a random Turkey address for the payment profile. You can create a new payment profile by following these steps: go to https://pay.google.com/gp/w/u/0/home/settings and clicking the pen icon next to "Country/Region" and a link to create a new profile should pop up. You can then add details for the Turkish profile.
Step Two
How to manually update your billing location
Your location is determined at checkout by the home address you use with your Google Account to purchase or transfer a domain.
To manually set your billing country in Google Domains, follow these steps:
•Sign in to Google Domains.
•Open the menu Menu. (Three lines on the left)
•Click the flag next to the name of your current billing country.
•In the Change your country or region window that pops up, select your country from the dropdown list. (Here you need to select Turkey)
•Click Apply.
Step Three
Now you can search the domain name and domain ending that you want. Prices would be in Turkish Lira.
Info: You can buy up to 10 years of domain
I don't know much about domain. But I thought it would be useful to share this with the community.
This should be considered a pricing error and will be fixed at some point either by Google or Squarespace. I doubt it will last into Black Friday.
It really depends on the situation and what TLD your registering and if it's a new registration or renewal and if it's a new registration if you want it for multiple years and at a lower price.
