  • Wow, excellent deal, got one already but so tempted to pull the trigger :-)

    • +14

The trigger is one of the more annoying things about a Dyson

      • +5

It's one of the best things about it, screw having to toggle a button or a switch to turn it off.

        • +2

Excellent for feature for teaching young children how to vacuum

      • +4

        Agree. Pain in the finger.

  • +1

Bargain, gone (oos) by 8.30 me thinks.

  • +7

Yes I just bought a vacuum cleaner on impulse at ~2am.

    • +3

      Username doesn’t compute

      • +8

        StingyAF not dirtyAF

  • Comes up as $344 for me on the Dyson site

  • +2

The Good Guys also has it for $344 in case anyone had gift cards to use with them. Downside is you don't get the free extension accessory

  • Great price. Don't need any better than these for an apartment

Pretty cheap may try a 28d price protection got the exclusive edition about $460, heaps of accessories.

    .

  • +6

Thanks OP. Our V6 that's about 10 years old is cactus - have been waiting for a good price to replace it.

Edit: don't forget CR for those without plus. $15 (5%) cashback

    • Also have a V6 of a similar age, now replaced.

  • +11

The Apple version of a Vacuum

New model every year and even more expensive

  • Can anyone share what isthe difference between this and the standard V8 Animal?

  • I got V8 absolute for $360, so this is a great deal

  • +1

Is this better than Dreame V11 ?

    • +4

I bought the dreame v10 a few years back and it’s almost impossible to buy a replacement battery. You can but you really don’t know what you’re getting.
Just purchased the Dyson myself as I’ve learnt my lesson

  • +1

Can you do timber flooring with these? I.e doesn’t scratch it.

    • +1

They do fine for scratches. But I've had better results sweeping and just vacuuming the dirt piles.

      • Half the price of the vacuum cleaner lol

        • +2

          Yeah, accessories are not discounted.

Still cheaper than re-doing the timber flooring.

        • +1

or ebay copies for about $35 I have one and we are happy with the results but we haven't had it very long so cant comment on longevity

  • -4

    This or the $899 gen5?

    • +2

Gen5 if money is no issue

    • Hello from a completely different ballpark!

  • Can the attachment from V6 be used for V8? I have extension hose from v6.

    • Unfortunately, V6 and V8 have different attachment mechanisms.

    • +3

Can get adapters between various dyson types . Also there are models for dyson adapters on thingiverse for those with a 3d printer

      • +2

I have an old v6 that’s basically dead and now just bought this v8 …. I also just bought a 3D printer. Thank you for bringing that to my attention. Yee-ha!

        • Lol nice flex!

          • +1

@moo: Lol, wouldn’t say it’s much of a flex :P. I got an Elegoo Neptune 3 Pro for $265 which I setup literally a few hours before I got onto this Dyson deal. So everything lined up nicely. Didn’t even cross my mind I could print parts to utilise the bones left from the v6, so I was pretty appreciative of that.

            • +1

@zubzub: Thats a great 3d printer and decent price too. Where didya get it from?

              • @moo: OzB of course :). Very happy I finally pulled the trigger on one. From all the research I’ve been doing it seems the best bang for buck. Already going down the rabbit hole of setting up klipper on a RPi to get the most out of it. Did my little Buddha print test last night and was so impressed with it. Got some more filaments coming from Amazon today, so my weekend is set :)

  • +1

    Got one from ebay….thanks OP

  • This or Ryobi brushless stick vacuum for the same price if I already have battries?

    • Dyson for vac, Ryobi for d.i.y/tools

      • +1

I've seen aftermarket adapters for dyson vacuums so you can plug in ozito etc batteries. Great idea but not sure how well it works

        • Damn, never thought about searching that way.

    • I thought the same but have heard the Ryobi one is really loud which might sound fine but I have a wet and dry vac that is so loud that I'd only be able to use it when no-one is home/doing anything they care about lol.

The Ryobi one is also meant to be freestanding which is cool. But yeah I reckon I'll end up going the Dyson myself.

    • Good question

  • Good guys is the same price but it came up with an automatic price beat for $339

Ebay is still the best deal

  • Is it worth it to upgrade to v8 from v7?

    • Yes, v7 is essentially a v6

    • +1

Hell yea, definitely for bin release system

  • +1

Got it from eBay, Plus pricing, then banked gift cards that I got 10% off. All up approx $280. Great deal.

    • How does the eBay's gift card discount work? Trying to educate my self for the next eBay deal

  • Got one from eBay. Thanks OP

  • +2

The V12 Detect Slim Complete is $844 down from $1399. I've never used one so I can't vouch for it being better though.

    • awesome - thanks heaps!

  • -2

Benefits of this over an electric vacuum?

    • +3

      Dysons aren't "electric"?

      • As in the vacuum I already have that you have to plug in to use

        • +2

I think you just answered your own question but in case you need some more ideas:

          • Can convert to handheld for flexibility and to get into tighter spots.
          • Comes with a charge dock and can be stored vertically to take up less floor space.
          • Don't have to keep unplugging between rooms.
          • Easy to dump the debris after.

I keep mine in handheld mode lying around for opportunistic cleaning like stray hairs, crumbs, etc. Better than wheeling out a full plugin unit.

        • These ones have a plug where you charge them though

    • +1

Keep the Miele c3 for whole house deep cleaning. The suction literally lifts up the carpet!

These are good for spot cleaning but also great for smaller apartments. Perhaps even your car if you don’t have a power point near by

  • +1

thank you. my first dyson product. was never a fan of spending so much in vacuum and have always bought cheaper vaccum under 150. my last $99 vax stick is still going for the last 5 years without a loss in runtime. hopefully Dyson will hold up longer than that.

    • I had one of the original and budget range Dyson vacuum cleaners and, except for a few cracks in plastic around the container clip that not affect operation, works as good as day one.

I’m saying that, my parents had a twenty or so year old vacuum cleaner and that was still working too without cracks - built tough back in the day - before finally failing.

I also had two of the original Dyson cordless smaller vacuum cleaners and one did fail, likely battery wore out or something similar, and the other was fine and sold as did not need it after moving.

  • OOS on ebay

  • Can't seem to find any with TGG. eBay is oos. Doesn't seem that JB stocks the same version. JB has Dyson V8 Plus 2023 and Dyson V8 2022. Does anyone know the diff between OP's deal and these two?

  • +1

Finally decent prices for a very old vacuum.

    • +2

      It’s brand new.

      • haha, you got me there :D

    • +1

I mean we wouldn't want to miss out on all those massive and ground breaking vacuum tech breakthroughs in the last few years would we?

      • +1

I warn you, they all suck.

  • Anyone had experience with aftermarket accessories such as this?

    https://vacuumspares.com.au/omni-powerhead-for-dyson-v7-v8-v…

I know Dyson have the omni-glide, but for $479 and a weaker variant, I felt it wasn't worth the risk. But for $60 - figured it might be worthwhile to have the soft head for hard floors and easy sweeping replacement?

  • DOH, I got the Dyson V7 for $296 a few weeks ago

    • Doh!

      • +1

"Oh my God… This man is my exact double… THAT DOG HAS A PUFFY TAIL… HERE PUFF, HERE PUFF"

        • Where are my donuts?

  • is it telescopic thho

  • +1

Out of stock at ebay it seems

  • -3

Sorry but how do we get the price of 309 from Ebay?

    • +1

Have to have ebay plus. I registered for the free trial to get it, may or may not keep it after 30 days. OOS on ebay now anyway according to comments.

  • +1

Could someone please confirm if this will be good for carpets as well?

    • +1

Yes, it will do very well on carpet.

  • +3

Dammit, I missed out, such a great deal. Thanks for the heads up OP, maybe next time.

Stupid Work job made me miss out on a good deal.

    • +3

      Available again my friend

      • +4

OMG Thank you, thank you! I grabbed one straight away thanks to your notification.

Thanks shxhshzhz for original post too.

  • I Wonder is the V8 extra presents as a good deal as well??

  • does the v8 get clogged up with long hair like the old v6 / v7's? wasnt there a new detangling head for one of the dyson models? does that fit this?

  • +1

    Bought the Gen5 Absolute… $899.10 with coupon

  • +2

Legit question, is something like this really worth double over something from Kmart and the likes?
    Eg- https://www.kmart.com.au/product/cordless-stick-vacuum-clean…

  • +2

    Viomi A9 or this?

  • Not following Dyson much
isnt this like 7 Vs older than a V15?
