Seems expensive compared to a similar kmart one I bought years ago for $40. Upvoted though

    • curious do you have link to that, and is bottom of the lid mostly plastic or metal? cheers

      • I have the one mentioned above. Lid inner is plastic, as is the mesh basket.

        • cheers.if it's currently one of these 2 glass ones

          • +2

@capslock janitor: Yep, the $39 dollar one there. I also have the $69 temperature controlled one and that is the same, lid inner and mesh basket are plastic.

      Seems expensive

This is a genuine COSORI though…

    • The lid on the kmart one looked annoying to me in the store.

My Sunbeam KE9500 is on its last legs.

  • El LED cambia de color dependiendo de la temperatura?

it will need an adapter plug to work in australia ?

    • Probably. Some of the aussie reviews/answers said yes, others no.
Their suggested solution was complaint/request Amazon to supply free one, which I will have a crack at anyway
      Worth the investment imo

      • Let us know if you get one. Dealing with Amazon previously they usually just ask me to return it for a refund which is silly imo.

      • Amazon won't give me one. I'm considering returning it, as my adaptor doesn't seem suited to the high load.

        • Just got off webchat and CSR wouldn't technically give one either but offered 50% off adapter, then eventually someone offered me a full refund up to XX amount to order one and re-connect after delivered!
(Product has to be shipped from Amazon Australia WH and less than the price of the kettle itself)
          https://www.amazon.com.au/hz/contact-us/foresight/hubgateway…

How do you work out suitable for highload?

          • @capslock janitor: Yes after I persisted they also agreed to pay for an adaptor. Let me know if you find a high load one!

            • @atlas: I took this off my Chinese-plug printer to use with the kettle.
So now in the market for an extra modern universal/travel adapter again.

You were meant to tell me about a highload one!! IDK how to calculate loads .. And preferably for close to maximum refund haha

How does this compare to the original Breville BKE290 kettle with German Schott glass?

  • +4

Inlaws brought this guy just a couple of days ago because my decent teapot just died. This one was under prinetti "brand" name though. Looks like it is one of those Alibaba items every company puts their label on. Nothing exciting.

If you are referring the ones that are in similar style of Pursonic? then they are plastic inner lids I believ
Or could check it out if you can link to yours

      • It is not exactly like Pursonic. Definitely very similar in style to yours, but is missing the stainless liners on the lid yours have. The lid is stainless at the top though, not plastic.

  • ive seen it all now - Dry Protection?!

    • +2

Dry-Boil prevention so it doesn't melt down? haa

    • +2

I had a breville kettle with no dry boil protection… Guess what it did one day when I wasn't looking and it didn't stop heating when the water was boiled

  • I have this Kogan one. Extremely happy with it. https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-15l-double-walled-kettle/

    • Interesting, looks decent

    • Looks like the inner lid is also steel, which I like.
Kettles that have a water level gauge always have some transparent part that comes in contact with the boiling water, incorporated into the inner steel wall. This kettle does not seem to have a water level gauge, so no reason to have this. Can you please confirm if the inner wall is a continuous stainless steel surface? Many thanks in advance.

It's a continuous stainless steel surface. The only thing I'm a little puzzled with is the hole near the top lid. Haven't been able to find a purpose for it…

Have a look at this video of the kettle …
        https://drive.google.com/file/d/13JZF_4qvUaHkvtu88MAnFoHkGHI…

        • Thanks for the video – very helpful. I have been looking for a kettle like this for a while.

The only thing I'm a little puzzled with is the hole near the top lid. Haven't been able to find a purpose for it…

The hole is used for the kettle switch-off mechanism, so steam produced when the water boils can go through it and activate the switch-off. This article explains in more detail how this generally works.

Would love a glass-contact only type like this but with temperature control.

    • This is exactly what I've been looking for too, unsuccessfully so far.

      • There's a full stainless (next best thing to glass I guess) with a v-spout by Brewista but not in 240V

Let me know if you find anything!

  • Received package yesterday.

    • @capslock janitor How did the package perform?

      • +1

to preface- i havent owned an electric kettle for several years, so this is my fresh hand experience .

        • some plastic/chemical smell, which i've tried boiling off. maybe it's that "brand new" smell.
unsure if the smell is gone or i've gotten used to it. or it tastes different to boiling in a nonstick saucepan//or hotter than a small saucepan(?)

        • lid doesnt open its full angle sometimes when clicked, but i've implemented a slight wrist flick to open it all the way.
which seems to be hindrance compared to previous iteration, dunno what happened there.

        • ergonomically, isn't too comfortable to hold, exercises your brachioradialas//forearm muscle.
can feel slippy; you could pour it with the thumb underneath the handle loop and that's a more ergonomic grip anyway.

        • pouring til the last drop will exercise your upper/trapezius muscle a bit. that's becos of the kettle's bulbous design.
sometimes there's a stray drip from the condensation of the ceiling/inner lid. just do it above what you're pouring directly into, lol.

        • some browning/scorching buildup on the base plate, in shape of the heating element underneath, or it could be mineral stains from water.
depending on how often you use the kettle, user-guide suggests to clean it weekly with bicarb + lemon juice or vinegar.
easy to clean. I simply used a leftover lemon on the flesh side, to scrub the markings then fill water and boiled, which washed away the browning marks.

we are tea-drinkers so boiling ~3+ times a day.

it performs well and being the only/minimal inner plastic of its kind, i'm happy with it for now.
but as listed, i'd make some improvements if i were on the development/design team.

are you thinking of getting one?@FarKen
        hope those details help.
