Ooni Koda 16 Bundle (Pizza Oven, Cover, Thermometer, 14" Peel and 8" Spinner) $995.05 + Delivery @ Kegland

560

Decent value bundle @ Kegland

$999.05 + Delivery (was ~$24 for me)

Includes Ooni Koda 16
Ooni Koda 16 cover - official version
Thermometer Gun - non-Ooni branded
14" perforated pizza peel - non-Ooni brand
8" pizza spinning wheel - non-Ooni brand

Similar (official product) bundle on Ooni website (but missing spinning wheel) is currently on sale for $1,409 plus $119.99 for spinner. So Kegland is about $500 cheaper than buying the official accessories.

If you don't want all the accessories, the Ooni Koda 16 is available on Kegland's ebay page here https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/234568821079 for $900 ($1,000 less $100 discount with Ebay code HGTJUL).

Edit: removed a link to a dodgy website (not Kegland) with too-good-to-be-true pricing.

That site does look dodgy. Office address is just a block of units but the ABN has been registered for 23 years

    • +18

Kegland are a legitimate business. I’ve purchased multiple things from them over the years and never had any issue.

      • +5

Can vouch for Kegland. Bought same oven in 2021 for $730ish and arrived quickly

      • +2

He’s not talking about Kegland. Read the last paragraph in the deal.

        • +3

Ah that makes sense. To be honest I didn’t even realise the OP had written that so just thought 2jzzzz was referring to Kegland! My bad.

the FAQ’s in the second link refer to using USPS. Looks like a definite scam - would suggest removing so someone doesn’t buy from them.

  • +1

Yeah, dodgy site. FAQs talk about shipping via UPS and FedEx, sounds like it's been cut and pasted from an American site. Contact email is a Gmail account and phone number is a mobile. I wouldn't risk it.

    • Phone Number: +61 (401) 104 198. That does not even look like aust number. why (401) in bracket, looks like state of Rhode Island code and replace US country code with +61
Unfortunately, we cannot ship to PO Boxes or Military APOs
Larger freight items ship via truck

      • +1

It's a mobile number mate.. Remove the first zero..

        • +2

I know that!! what I am saying and you didn't get is the format is wrong, no one here put first 3 numbers in bracket. This is a US phone number format. And this is one of multiple red flags in this site.

        • Why you don't call the number and tell us if it exist!! (I know the answer)

  • Great price for a great oven

  • +3

Hizo G14 got good reviews from others here previously. At $299 it's very tempting.

    • +2

Agree, if Hizo G14 was out before I bought first Arostto and then Koda 16, I would have bought it, as it is great value and at 14" is bigger than all the 12" ovens.

    • Looks good! Good 👍

    • I like it. Still haven't got the hang of it yet, currently waiting on another pizza night to try a different method of heating.

Apparently you have to blast it on high for 30mins to properly heat the stone.

      • Is that the case for any gas pizza oven or just the hizo?

      • +2

This is the way. I'm smashing some great pizzas from the arrosto, blast it on high for 20-30mins, take it close to lowest setting when you put the pizza in. Back to high once you take the pizza out to get the stone hot for the next one.

      • Need to use IR gun to measure stone temp to take guess work out.

    • +2

I've got one of these and a Gozney Dome and 0 IPs. I'm not on 200k either but a cast iron skillet in an oven isn't going to cook 10 pizzas in 30 minutes either. What's your next sweeping generalisation?

      • -2

        Easy, just buy five ovens.

        • If your pizzas take 15 minutes to cook you're doing it wrong.

    • depends how good your multifunction oven is ….. if you have a grill function you can give the top some extra heat, if you have a normal oven like in renters it’s hard to get the top right and leopard spots then the hizo fits the bill and you can take it with you when you shift. neapolitana pizzas in my area are $25 so a pizza oven pays for itself.

a $1000 ooni might suit everybody’s budget or space , but people have included an alter give the hizo 14.

i have the coles 12” oven and a 14” would be nicer …..

    • These things are designed to cook at 500°. Pizzas are cooked in about 60 seconds. Don't think any bbq would reach a temperature in that range and be easy to cook a pizza in.

      • Yeah still don’t think I’d spend almost a grand for making the occasional pizza in my case!

        • +2

Not a valid reason to neg.

          • -5

@SydStrand: Lol ok and you can read my mind and know my reasons for neg? Ok, yeah cool. :/

            • +1

@pumpkinpieblah: There's actually a list of valid reasons to neg a deal, otherwise people could just neg deals because they don't like the colour, they think the name is silly, etc. Negative votes can be revoked if they're not in line with these rules.

              • @misterpotatomato: That is exactly my point, it was only assumed the reason why I negged due to my opinion in my comment. Alas, a floored system.

            • +2

@pumpkinpieblah: Okay, enlighten me. Which valid reason is there for your neg vote? Did you happen to find a better price for this product? Is there a defect with this oven? Or have you had prior issues with this merchant? No? Then no valid reason for neg.

You're entitled to express your opinion, but there are few, very clearly defined reasons for a neg vote, which obviously weren't applicable in this case. Learn the voting guidelines and you won't get piled on in the future.

We do pizzas on our Weber, did a few Friday night. They're great.
They take about 10-15 min per pizza though.

      • -1

Exactly! Not sure I’d personally spend this much coin on just a one purpose thing but that is maybe just me! And I got negged for sharing my thoughts, cool.

        • If you making 1x pizza once a month, or buying from Domino, or using frozen pizza, then yes you have a point, but for some people, eg my case, I make pizzas may be 3 times a week, I also use the pizza oven to make steak, butterflied chicken, grilled whole fish, fish fillets and more. I also done desert sweet pizzas. I also roast pumpkin but not pie So it is not really one purpose. Also note the quality of pizza I make is in par with wood fired speciality Italian pizzeria shops. The oven is very energy efficient as it heat to 450c in <15min, so I don't waste LPG on preheating my Beefeater BBQ. I reckon it paid for itself in under a year use. If you don't want to pay $900-$1,000, you can always consider the Hizo-14G @ $300!!

          • @huntabargain: Good for you chap, perhaps you could use the oven to hunt for bargains too! I clearly stated that in my case it was not a valued purchase. I’m not stopping anyone else from buying it if they wish to, yikes. Also, pumpkin pie is delicious, you should try it in your super oven!

            • @pumpkinpieblah: You stated that a pizza oven is one purpose, my response clarified that I and many others get to use it for multiple use with great result and you don't need to spend a lot to get quality oven. I realize that not everyone is into making home made dough/pizza, so no one is forcing you to buy a pizza oven, and you should not criticize or negg a deal because it is not for you!!

              • -1

@huntabargain: First of all are you going to be using US English or UK? *criticise, *realise. Secondly, as already mentioned I said in my case. I am entitled to my opinion just as you are. You have pretty much gone in circles with your comments. Do I dare ask what’s for dinner tonight, maybe a noodle dish in your pizza oven my dude. Again, good for you!

                • -1

@pumpkinpieblah: I don't think someone who mistakes 'flawed' for 'floored' should lecture anyone on their grammar.

                  • @SydStrand: Criticise - pretty sure I just asked a question. But sure, please go through my history of comments and pick out what you can. Good for you champ!

      • +1

Mine take a lot longer. Takes 40 minutes to heat the Weber too which burns through the LPG bottle. I use the Weber pizza stone too.

To be honest if I am entertaining and people want pizza, I can have it ready in 15 minutes from asking by just going inside and using the oven. Maybe I have a decent oven but pizza work out pretty great in it.

        • Interesting - what size Weber do you have?
          Ours is the Q.
I preheat for maybe 20 minutes.

          • @theguyrules: I have the family Q.

Maybe it's user error, or that I know how to cook a great pizza in our oven, but it just takes too long to heat up and then cook. 35 minutes in your example I'll have two pizzas prepped from scratch and cooked by then (potentially 4 if I pre-prepare and sit there like a hawk moving them around).

Plus the taste isn't any better then from my oven, at least with an Ooni or Gozny you'll get a lot better flavour.

    • -1

You're asking an honest question, so the downvotes are a little unfair.

It is a somewhat luxury item if you do already have an oven but it's a bit like cooking steak in the microwave vs. on a high heat pan (to medium rare, of course 😉). You get a cooked item at the end, but the result is significantly better.

  • +1

I had needed to get one of these for a while, having missed out on the EOFY sales. Was resigned to pay the 'normal price' because I wanted one for an upcoming event.

Thanks OP, for saving me just under $400!

  • I had one of these for three weeks and the piezo igniter gave up. It was really disappointing given the high price.

While I did have it I did find that it was fairly hard to use and would burn everything very easy. Plus it has a single focus, so you can't cook vertically higher things.

In the end I returned it and got a gozney dome. It costs about 2-3 as much but is easily 10 times as good. Not as portable though obviously.

    • Is the Gozney Dome even available in Australia? Every time I look it is sold out. Still it is 3k plus most people will need the stand which is an extra $400. If you want to cook anything outside pizza/bread you'll also want the door which is another ~$150. I haven't even got to the accessories that are included in this pack. Starts getting exxy.

      But still, I want one!

    • +1

The bigger the oven the easier to cook pizza with less chance to burn the crust. So in order Dome > Koda 16> RB >Koda 12. Having said that by the time you have Dome + Stand + Door, etc it is getting closer to $4000 and can only cook 1 pizza at the time. Also takes much longer to preheat but keeps heat in as stone is double the thickness, so it would work well for multiple pizza at one time, but not economical to make 1 or 2 pizza.
I also seen many reports about cracked stone in the Dome specially when using wood. I reckon it is design flaw as the stone has sharp edged angles (reflex L)

  • Just for balance. I have the Ooni koda 12, will upgrade at some point to the 16. It’s incredibly easy to get amazing pizza out of the oven. Amazed anyone would say it was hard.

The Gozney dome does look amazing but the report on the pizza stone cracking and poor after sales support gives me pause to invest on that one (see their Facebook page)

    Ooni after sales is solid.

    • The stone cracking I have seen a lot of user error there. You have to season it, not just whack it in at full temp. Poor after sales is probably a thing, but then the reason replacements might be so slow is that they are always sold out.

  • I have an Ooni Karu 16. Really amazing

    • Is the Karu physically bigger than the koda16?
I really want something that can bake non flat breads.

      • I believe the cooking stone is same size, but oven itself is much deeper to take into account the room for rear wood hoper and rear separate stone, but I understand the Karu internal ceiling height might be higher than Koda. If you buy Karu, you would need to also buy gas burner at $200.

  • I have the wood pellet burning one, makes a great pizza. Bit of an art to it, particularly keeping a constant temperature, but recommend it to pizza lovers.

  • Not a scam from kegland.

Koda 16 is the perfect model compared to others especially using wood or pellets, cooking a pizza takes under 2 minutes so don't waste your time maintaining a fire etc.

Can also get a turntable, aka ooni hack.

    • Scam was referred to the other dodgy site for $698, OP has since removed the link.

Thanks OP - I have been waiting for an offer on the Fyra, but after seeing this offer and then doing some research I feel this is the way to go so I have ordered (with the 5% referral discount that popped up - thanks Ozbargain!).

Also added a few Type 00 bags of flour into the order and some San Marzano tomatoes. Anyone know where these are readily available otherwise?

I'm based in WA so shipping was a hefty $59, but the 5% basically covered that :)

  • +2

    Thank you OP.

Been waiting for a deal like this for a while.

The 5% referral bonus covered shipping and a little bit extra.

Great deal if you’re after this set up.

  • Anyone familiar with Diastatic Malt Powder to be used with pizza dough and bread bakery? I came across Extra Light Dried Malt Extract at Kegland and other stores on ebay, but not sure if it is same product? LDME
I called Kegland but they not sure.

    • I'm guessing malt powders primary purpose would be for the coloring of the final product. For these Ooni /Gozney type products, the high heat of these pizza ovens give you that awesome coloring + spotting anyway.

As far as taste goes, with these high heat pizza ovens, in my experience, the dough prefermentation process is much more important for a richer/stronger flavour.

      • If you follow eg 100% biga recipe on Ooni or Gozney site they call for ~1% malt. I bought Saunders Malt Extract 1kg from Woollies but it's in liquid form like syrup, so don't think its the same and awkward to measure few gm as very thick syrup.

I came across Diastatic malt powder and states:
Diastatic malt powder is the “secret ingredient” artisan bread bakers use to promote a strong rise, great texture, and lovely brown crust.
The active enzymes in diastatic malt help yeast grow fully and efficiently throughout the fermentation period, yielding a good, strong rise and great oven-spring.
Diastatic Malt is a completely natural product made from sprouted Barley or Wheat which is then dried and ground – ours is Barley Malt, proudly grown and milled in Australia

I know I can buy it from them but wanted to buy from ebay as it has free delivery and can use my monthly $5 voucher.

  • +1

Just ordered one myself. Happy with the 5% discount from referral. Thanks OzB (and OP) :p
