11 months ago the dev said not going to happen https://www.gamebyte.com/the-callisto-protocol-wont-be-comin… because it won't rack up many hours compared to open world and multiplayer games, and I guess they get paid by proportion of use. But it is a year on and it's being heavily discounted so maybe Gamepass will math.

I'm going to guess it's linear and nothing special in terms of gameplay, which is exactly why I've waited to buy it at this price - some temporary fun that doesn't challenge the mind.
Fun game and worth $28 imo. Some complained the combat was janky (personally found it enjoyable). Lack of enemy variety (agree on this). Boss fight I felt was lacking as well.

It had severe performance issues, boring combat, a boss you fight 4 times within an hour and a 2nd, almost identical boss you fight twice in a 45 minute timespan, way too many boring attempts at jumpscares, scripting issues where music stingers would play before a monster was even on screen, subpar writing and the final 45 minutes of the game was sold to customers as DLC. The game was absolutely deserving in its criticism
for that price, love the title - could be cool to add to the stack but survival horror, no thanks :(

does this have jump scares? I want to play it but i hate games with jump scares…
pretty much all it has really and none of them good or really made me jump. The game itself isn't at all scary, it just has sci fi horror setting going for it that's all.
Have you played until dawn? I couldn't finish that game because the jump scares would freak me out lol!

Terrible story (seriously, so generic and the audio logs are even more generic "oh no what's the noise - AHHHHzzzz" - they're dead, with literally nothing resembling interesting lore or background to the plot), characters are tossed as fast as they are introduced, and average but serviceable survival-horror gameplay. A better package at under 20 bucks for a weekend experience.

It's not a great game, as someone who has finished it, it's not really worth $28 imo. Play something else that's more worthy of your time. The game has nice graphics, story starts strong and then it falls off a cliff from there.

You could just buy Plus Extra for that money and have a whole library of games which includes Returnal and other exclusive games. But good luck, Returnal is so so hard and unforgiving.. I love the game but I gave up after almost beating the 1st boss like 50 times, thats with the save glitch. It's rage inducing but the gameplay loop is awesome!
