Awesome deal is an understatement ;-)

This is a crazy price for one of the best TVs you can get today. Great find, great OzBargain!

Besides James Cameron, who would even notice?

          • +3

@Wizard: Trust me bro the majority wouldn't.

@Gorby: Goose. I can tell the difference like night and day but you don't have common sense to read and understand where I was coming from.

We all know you watch tv by yourself, and not by Choice 🤣

    • +1

I'm tempted. But i want the 65 inch and it's above my budget

      • +2

        Bought a 55’ C2 and returned it within a month before opening for a 65’ .
So glad I did , So worth it , just awesome .
        And better power rating …
C3 I expect would be a similar experience I expect or better .

  • wow

  • +1

No more 42 inch OLED TVs?

    • +3

Shame the 42" C3 isn't included in the deal.

      • +4

Yes I remember the C2 42" was close to $1k…

        • +1

Disappointed I missed out on that one :( This one is tempting, but I'm just going to be patient for another 42+ inch OLED closer to $1k

          • +1

@weensome: I'd say a lot of us are in the same boat, if the 42" C3's make it to a similar price as the C2's they'll get a wave of sales. I was proud of myself for holding out and not getting a 42" C2 I didn't really need, then I was rewarded a few weeks later by the LEDs detaching themselves from my Philips 43" monitor. That's reverse karma for you I guess?

    • +2

The fact that the 42" is more expensive right now shows how poorly they are pricing that model.

    • +1

They know 42 is the most popular usually on sale later

what is happening, this is the quickest and biggest discounts on the years big tv's i can recall…. are they lying and people arent still splashing cash everywhere? are we about to crash?!?!

Consumer spending is declining, big time!

  • This or the samsung QN90B or QN90C as

    a. my living room is really bright (large side door panels by the side).
    b. I do occasionally watch during the day but would like to leave some sort of light streaming in.

Anyone with experience with LG OLED vs samsung QLED in a bright room?

    • Unless you're going with a G3 or QD-OLED the QN90C will suffice and perform well but the new OLEDS using MLA or QD rival the brighest mini led TV's.

    • +1

      To answer your question:

      a. Get QN90B, QLED performs much better in bright room.

      b. QN90B

Also QN90B > 90C so you may want to find lát year model

    • +2

I have the Samsung QN90B, purchased at a much lower price from Samsung store (sub $1350 for the 55").

      Cons:
      * The included TV remote is below average, form over function, and does little to differentiate between the buttons. I use the older Samsung remote which is still compatible.
      * The software is a step backward from previous Samsung TVs in some ways i.e. unable to play some movies off USB that were previously compatible with older TVs (check Samsung website for codec compatibility). If you like to playback USB media may require a Nvidia Shield Pro 4K or similar streaming device/setup.
      * Bloatware.

      Pros:
      * The bright screen and superb colours. Able to counter brightly lit rooms.
      * Compatibility with current gen consoles

Overall I am very happy with it. At the time, there was little in the way of a bright displays to counter sunlit rooms for this price bracket and the C2, though one of the best TVs for the price during it's run, was too dark for the sunny room the TV was to be placed in and much more expensive. The C3 and G3 are subtly brighter and I think really hit the sweet spot.

    • +1

I have a G1, QN90B , and G3. I first put the G1 in the bright room and it work well at all, so i had to replace it with QN90B which has been fantastic for the bright area. I then got the G3 and that is equally bright at the QN90B

  • What discounts codes or coupons can we get on top of this?

    • There is 5% gift card cashback on shopback app up to $1500 ( that brings it down to $1425) , and you can probably get the $446 with 3% discount from Macquarie marketplace giftcard ( that brings it down to $432.62)

So the total cost will be $1857.62, which is a killer price.

    • Previously Coles had 15% off and 15% bonus loading on gift cards that had JB Hi-Fi included. However those offers are expired. If anyone has any of those, then it's a no brainer.

  • +1

Anyone know how this compares to the C1 or the C2 for gaming?

For retro games the C1 was killer but they did some things in the C2 that messed that up. Link below for those that are interested.

    • +1

Basically C2 is better apart from the fact they took out 120hz BFI, which is godly if you game at 120hz.

I ended up with a G1 over a G2 purely due to this

    • +1

get a CRT for retro games ;)

  • So many thanks to op, grabbed one. What a ridiculous bargain, I have no words…

    • A ridiculous bargain would be a lot less than 2 grand on a RRP $2500 TV (RRP is always inflated, who buys RRP TVs any more?)

      • The inflated RRP of this model is >$3000. Usual discounted price has been >$2000.

Given above, I definitely endorse that at $1996 (and of course some gift card tricks) it is a ridiculous bargain.

  • Anyone could recommend another cheaper 55'' TV please, for bedroom use. Wont use during the daytime. Thank you.

    • +1

maybe this one, with Ebay plus $1799 XR55A80K 55" A80K BRAVIA XR OLED 4K

      Full comparison here

      • Is the PUA the same as the PSA? So the OLED55C3PUA vs the OLED55C3PSA ?

        • What I have checked yeah it's the same basically those last letters are to identify the different retail channels, different stands, different countries, etc, so no related with a feature or spec.

  • Can anyone help I don't know how to use ultimate GC for this.

I have ultimate GC 10x $100. I want use all of them and pay the rest with a debit card. Is this way available only in store?? Can't I use all 10 GC for this single transaction online?

    • I believe you can't redeem all those gift cards online. But you can redeem them in store. If you do decide to go in store, it's recommended to have all gift cards scratched and ready to go.

      • Thanks. Do you know about how apple pay work in this case?

If I add all 10 cards in my Apple wallet, should I still tab 10 times for each GC and another one for the rest?

        OR

I can pay with only 2 tabs like one for 10 GCs and one for debit card?

      • Even if I need to tap 11 times, is it still better to load into my apple wallet? maybe? for easier for JBHIFI staff?

Sorry I never have done this before… have no idea at all

    • +1

You can use the Ultimate gc on JB website, but you’ve to convert all of them first to JB digital gc unless your order is below the amount that’s on the Ultimate gc

The only problem with that method is the JB fraud system may kick in

      @Scrooge McDeal FYI :)

      • can I convert 10 ultimate GC to JB digita gc and use all of them in one transaction?

        • Yes, there are no limits on how many JB gc you wanna use online
But the process of converting Ultimate gc to JB is a pain as you need to do them one by one

  • I have the Alienware 34" on my shopping list atm but if the 42" C3 joins the sale I might be tempted… it will be ridiculously large to use as a monitor but wth

    • Not for this round unfortunately as it only includes 55” and above

    • Yeah thought they'd be replacing things like the Aorus monitors but nope just discontinued? Feels like there'd be a huge market for a $1000 ~34" range oled monitor. But guess the profit margin isn't there.

    • +2

I bought the c3 42” a few dollars cheaper than this price a few weeks ago as my monitor for ps5/pc and while OLED delivers an incredible experience - it’s simply too large to use as a monitor unless you’re sitting way back or have a very deep desk

      • Yeah, I bet… I currently run a 27" WQHD but the my desk is an L-shaped behemoth so I have the real estate to get a bigger screen but despite liking the idea of the 42" TV/monitor I feel like even 38 would probably be a stretch

  • +2

For those curious (like I was) the differences between the C2 (2022) and C3 (2023) are
    - slightly better brightness
    - better sharpness processing for SD content which supposedly makes DVDs look a little better on the C3
    - support for DTS audio format meaning you can use eARC to pass through rather than plugging your media player directly into a soundbar/audio receiver

Minor, but potentially handy. Not worth an upgrade from the C2 perhaps, but YMMV

  • I so want this for my bedroom…..

It's gotta make watching pixelated Binge that much better….

  • Cheaper than the 42!

  • Just a BG’s tip: check LG VIP website and use your unique knock and win promo code (if you participated previously) which it’s a min >10% off ;)

    • +2

I mentioned this to jb hi fi, asked to price match. They did mine for $1,977, said that's the lowest he can go.

    • Yeah but it's Harvey norman..

  • Plenty of stock all around me. People just aren’t spending as much as they used to.

  • Went & got one, thanks OP.

Far Queue Gerry for dropping the price

  • Can anyone point me in the direction of settings to watch ball sports without jerky movement of the ball? Seeing the cricket ball smashed for four is a terrible experience. Watching through a chromecast, on a 55" LG OLED purchased 3 years back.

  • How can this be expired already?

  • +1

Thanks OP. Finally replaced my 10 year old Samsung UE55F8000.
